This exciting role will suit an experienced fundraising leader who can deliver strategically and influence at a senior level both internally and externally. Refugee Action is looking for a Head of Fundraising, Brand & Insight to lead a critical area of our work.

Salary: £53,460 starting salary (salary range will increase to max £61,429 via the length of service) plus £4,324 Inner London Weighting if based in London per annum.

Hours: Full-Time 35 hours per week (excluding lunch breaks)

Location: Any Refugee Action Office (London, Manchester or Bradford). We will consider UK-based hybrid working options.

About the role

You will lead Refugee Action's Fundraising, Brand and Insight department, building and delivering a sustainable programme that raises significant income from major partnerships and public fundraising.

The organisation has been through a period of change, and this role is central to leading the department through the transition by creating clarity, stability and shared purpose – restoring confidence, establishing clear ways of working, developing a compelling case for support and embedding a culture of proactive new business development.

You will take ownership of rebuilding the department’s foundations – setting direction, defining processes, and creating the conditions for high performance. The role will develop and promote a collaborative and inclusive team culture that builds resilience and celebrates success, with a focus on learning and well-being.

The role can be based in any of our offices: Manchester, London or Bradford, with extensive options for WFH.

About you

You are a self-starter and a builder – someone who takes pride in leaving teams stronger than you found them. You'll be energised rather than daunted by stepping into a department, with an organisational income profile of £4.5m - £5m per year.  You’ll be leading a department that needs direction and renewed momentum, following a recent organisational restructure and change, as we move into delivering a new strategy.

You will bring significant leadership experience across a range of relevant areas of public fundraising and major partnerships, and you'll be comfortable influencing senior stakeholders internally and externally.

Whether you have experience of income generation for the refugee and migration cause or not, you will have a strong drive towards social justice, recognising how fundraising can be a tool for challenging oppression and injustice. You will have strong anti-racist values and a commitment to centring and empowering people with lived experience, rather than approaches that are extractive or dehumanising. 

To succeed in the role, you will need to demonstrate:

• Understanding of how the UK’s hostile refugee protection and asylum system impacts those affected by it
• Commitment to anti-racism and to working to remove the barriers to power facing people with lived experience
• Commitment to the principles of confidentiality, impartiality and equality and equity of opportunity.
• Strong track record in developing significant income growth strategies and delivering results
• Strong understanding of the fundraising and digital landscape
• Knowledge and understanding of building programmes to acquire, retain, and upgrade donors through a range of channels and techniques
• Proven ability to build, support and motivate high-performing teams to achieve results, including though times of organisational change
• Experience of working collaboratively with a leadership team on strategic direction, risk management and governance
•  Knowledge and experience in identifying and cultivating high-value fundraising prospects.
• Understanding of brand development, with the ability to manage the effective and consistent use of an organisation’s visual and verbal identity.
• Experience in leading managing and developing staff, with strong people coaching, development and management skills.

This organisation was established in 2012 by Emily Reuben and Alex Johnson after both of their sons were diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. As the Head of Relationship Fundraising, you will have a key role in a new phase of fundraising development. Focusing on building sustainable income, this role will look to strengthen supporter engagement, develop long-term relationships across the Duchenne community, and grow philanthropic giving. This role will specifically look to build long-term relationships with supporters who have been personally affected by Duchenne - whether they are parents, carers, or friends and family members who want to fundraise in someone's honour or memory. 

The successful candidate will balance ambitious income generation with exceptional supporter care and sensitivity. They will also have proven fundraising experience across relationship fundraising, community, events, legacy, and philanthropy. This person will need to combine strategic thinking, emotional intelligence, and entrepreneurial energy to help grow a relationship fundraising programme rooted in compassion, trust, and measurable impact.

This is an exciting and pivotal moment for high value fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK.  Through our £100 million Raise the Game appeal, we are accelerating our progress over the next 5 years, to transform how men and their families navigate prostate cancer.  We are now seeking a new Head of Philanthropy to lead the strategic direction and performance of the philanthropy team, ensuring that we deliver ambitious, long-term and sustainable income growth in line with our priorities.  You will also cultivate your own major donor portfolio, and work with other senior leaders across the Philanthropy, Appeals and Partnerships team, to ensure a coordinated approach in driving a culture of excellence, accountability, and donor focus across all fundraising activity. 

About you
You are an experienced, collaborative fundraiser and people leader, who thrives in ambitious organisations and the major gifts arena. You’ll bring a strong track record of securing six-figure gifts and above, alongside the experience of designing and activating robust strategies and overseeing operational excellence that turns ambition into impact. A skilled and compelling communicator, you build trusted relationships easily and confidently with donors, colleagues and partners alike. You’re comfortable navigating the new and uncertain, bringing flexibility, curiosity and adaptability to a changing environment.

These qualities will be key to building credibility and strong relationships across the organisation and beyond. Experience in health or medical fundraising would be valuable, but it’s not essential. What is essential is your ability to interpret complex, specialist information into compelling funding propositions.  Underlying this all is your passion for driving positive change and belief in the power of philanthropy to make it happen.
