Job description

chit-chat is a new and disruptive national non-profit organisation born during a global pandemic. We want to welcome YOU into (one of) the most energetic, forward-thinking and innovative social enterprises in the UK.

69% of adults in Britain said they felt happier and more relieved after having a conversation with somebody. (YouGov)

We provide a casual, inclusive and non-judgmental space for anyone to communicate about anything. At chit-chat, there’s a conversation for everyone. Labels don’t define you. Regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, background or interests, we’re here to have a proper chit-chat. We aim to keep the nation connected, emphasising the importance of community and belonging.

Our chit-chat LINE, open 9am until 9pm daily, is an anonymous phone line for anyone who fancies a casual chat with one of our amazing volunteers. Whatever the topic, there’s a conversation for everyone.

We are the go-to place for a chat and are proactive in tackling loneliness, isolation and promoting positive psychological, emotional and digital wellbeing.

Mission = To connect the nation through conversation.

Vision = To create a world where everyone has someone to chat to.

We are ambitious. We are for everyone. We are chit-chat.

Impact so far.

What a journey chit-chat has had so far! In our first 10 weeks:

  • 110,000 people reached through our social media
  • 315+ unique calls
  • 35 phone volunteers recruited and trained
  • Created a Youth Advisory Board with 14 young people
  • Launched a virtual internship programme for university students and recent graduates, providing over 40 opportunities

We’re already forming strategic partnerships with funders, such as the National Lottery and Community Foundation, in addition to more localised grant providers. chit-chat is organically growing its base of corporate partners too in a variety of industries - with its bespoke and innovative partnership model.

Position summary.

The Head of Partnerships and Grants is the first paid post at chit-chat and will take a lead on ensuring the vision of a UK-wide conversation open to everyone remains sustainable and relevant. This is a pioneering role, taking on responsibility for the future of an exciting non-profit that has already gathered a great deal of momentum, since its launch in late March 2020.

The Head of Partnerships and Grants will work closely with the CEO and Board to implement chit-chat’s strategy and devise plans to build sustainable, long-term relationships with a variety of funders: corporates, high net-worth individuals, trusts, foundations, local authorities and universities - and lead on their delivery.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a new start-up non-profit organisation and join our mission. You’ll be helping shape our future, as we build chit-chat from the ground-up. We are a real feel-good project, with excellent incentives available as we grow.

You will be well-supported by the Board and team of volunteer chit-chatters in your work. We are looking for a proven relationship-builder, who uses their own initiative to generate ideas as well as leads and has the entrepreneurial flair tomake an immediate impact.

Please download the job pack for more details about our Head of Partnerships and Grants role and apply with a CV.

We will be assessing applications as they come in and may close earlier. Please note that due to the high number of applicants, we are only able to respond to candidates who we wish to interview.
