Our new Head of Programmes will oversee our existing and future connectivity projects, including the deployment of 5,000 Get Boxes in the UK to address the digital divide and our growing number of Big Box projects worldwide that connect essential education, health, and community resilience hubs.

Jangala is a humanitarian technology charity dedicated to designing and deploying connectivity technology that serves the world's most digitally-excluded people in education, health and emergency response settings. 

To date we have connected 100,000 people using our self-developed and open source Big Box and Get Box systems. As we graduate from pilot programmes and prototype products, our goal is to connect millions more by 2029 through reliable and secure connectivity solutions for our partners. Details of the role

As the Head of Programmes, you will play a central role in Jangala’s evolution at this important juncture, leading Jangala’s efforts to provide critical internet access to those who need it most. You will build and lead the partnerships with a wide range of delivery partners, from UK councils to the UN and major aid agencies, that will facilitate Jangala’s growing impact around the world, as well as lead a team dedicated to building efficient and insight-driven programmes. Your leadership will ensure the successful implementation of our connectivity initiatives, and help achieve Jangala’s ambitious impact targets providing meaningful connectivity worldwide.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Lead Jangala’s overall programme delivery, building partnerships across the UN, NGO and public sectors to deliver internet connectivity to millions of people by 2028 

• Ensuring that our programmes are high-quality and impactful, delivering meaningful connectivity by implementing our M&E frameworks and conducting first level impact assessment

• Working closely with our Strategy, Insights & Advocacy Lead to develop and implement our M&E frameworks, ensuring we are accurately measuring our impact

• Work closely with our Project Delivery Lead, assuring the robustness of our programmes, and due diligence process - including in high-risk environments subject to special regulations and sanctions

• Working to make our programmes accessible and scalable, so that they can serve both major organisations and grassroots partners in line with Jangala’s principles of universal accessibility 

• Act as Jangala’s Safeguarding Lead, managing overall responsibility for Jangala’s safeguarding responsibilities to the people we support

• Building and leading a high-performing programmes team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.

• Representing Jangala at key events, conferences, and meetings to enhance our visibility and opportunity for impact.

Important details

Jangala’s office is based in London and operates a remote-first working policy. Travel to our London office will be required for collaborative work at least once a week.

This is a newly created administrative role to increase capacity in Londonwide LMCs, the membership organisation representing approximately 7,000 NHS General Practitioners in over 1,100 practice teams in London, providing pan-London leadership and shared committee services for its members. In this role, you will report to the Head of Workforce-Training and Innovation and work within the WTI team, playing an integral part in linking our work across the directorates at Londonwide LMCs and externally with our practices and constituents.

Job Description  

This is a great time to join PCR’s Events & Community team as we expand the team off the back of raising over £1.3m (against a target of £800k) in 2023-24. We’ve had a really successful year with good results across our portfolio, so we’re excited to be recruiting a brand-new role to focus on PCR’s bespoke events and finding the successful events of the future! 

We are therefore looking for a proactive team player to join us and lead the innovation and delivery of our programme of PCR-owned fundraising events. This will include our flagship challenge Snowdonia for Science, as well as leading product development of new challenge, community fundraising and special event propositions. The Bespoke Events Manager will also work with colleagues across the organisation to support other strategic and stewardship events.

The position reports to the Head of Events & Community, and will line manage one Events & Community Officer. Collaboration will be a big part of the role, especially with the Virtual & Challenge Events Manager (VCM) who leads our virtual fundraising and third-party challenge events. 

Key Responsibilities 

As Bespoke Events Manager, we would be very keen to work with you to develop and shape this into an exciting and meaningful role for you. We prioritise our team member's development, and there will be a percentage of time available to work on other areas of the portfolio for development and interest. However, your main focus would be;

Project Management 

• Project manage PCR's flagship challenge, Snowdonia For Science. An amazing community event now enering its 16th year and forcast to raise £100k in 2024. This event is well-established but with plenty of room for you to make your mark, grow and improve the event. 
• Project manage new events and community products as they are developed and tested, including end-to-end planning and delivery
• Design and deliver ambitious fundraising budgets for your projects which contribute net income towards PCR's lifesaving mission. 
• Create good relationships with suppliers, venues, agencies and consultants to ensure great value.
• Lead the stewardship of fundraisers taking part in your events, boosting income and using feedback to continually develop positive journeys, experiences and opportunities for supporters 
• Alongside the Head of Events & Community and others, support the development and delivery of other events, including high value fundraising and stewardship events, and plans for a conference style event in collaboration with PCR's Research & Comms and Patient Projects teams. 

Product development and innovation 

• As a key part of the role, you’ll spend a good proportion of your time developing and testing new fundraising propositions, taking a test & learn approach. For this, there are realistic budgets and an understanding of the investment needed to try new ideas. 
• Product development will include special event product testing and at least one new community fundraising product in 2024-25. 
• Maintain a good level of understanding of PCR’s existing (and target) supporters in order to create and implement products and stewardship that motivate and inspire them. 
• Alongside the Head of E&C and the VCM, embed a culture of innovation and supporter insight in the team. 
• Proactively collaborate internally, working with other teams to identify opportunities for new events, activities and stewardship journeys that meet Prostate Cancer Research’s objectives. 

Team leadership 

• Line manage one Events & Community Officer, overseeing their work, guiding them to improve & innovate in their role, and supporting their professional development.
• Work closely with the Head of E&C and the VCM on team strategy, capacity planning and ways of working.
• Alongside the VCM, take a lead role on developing processes and infrastructure across the team including for stewardship, content, data and compliance. 
• Attend and contribute to meetings, sharing new ideas and learnings that might be useful for the wider team.
• Work with the Head of E&C and the VCM to embed and model PCR’s organisational values in the Events. Our values include: innovation, collaboration, accountability and championing the patient voice. 

As with everyone in the Public Fundraising team, the Bespoke Events Manager may also get in involved with other projects and tasks as appropriate to support all our activities. 

Skills and Competencies 

Our ideal candidate would have:

• Confident event and project management skills, including end-to-end planning, budgeting & results tracking.

In this role, you’ll have three direct line reports and alongside the Head of the team be responsible for the budgeting and planning for various work streams.

Working with the team you’ll be securing significant gifts to help us deliver services to people living with MS. We work hand-in-hand with our Research team to raise funds for our pioneering research programme.

You’ll also have your own portfolio, identifying, engaging and stewarding a mix of cold and warm philanthropists, senior volunteers and prospects. We’re looking for a dynamic and confident major donor fundraiser to maximise income growth from HNWIs.

Managers across Philanthropy and Partnerships work together very closely support the overarching approach to high value fundraising.

Now is an exciting time to join us at the MS Society. Our investment in research is to double over a decade and we have developed a research-focused national appeal, the Stop MS Appeal.

Our Stop MS appeal is well underway, with over £80 million of our £100 million target achieved, and is a major focus of our work. This will allow us to invest millions in ground breaking research, all with the goal of stopping MS as we know it.

As an Employment Coach with our Employcare Project you will be supporting unpaid carers living in Manchester; providing support and coaching in order for them to re-enter paid employment or voluntary roles.  The successful candidates will manage a small caseload of carers and provide them with 1:1 support, helping them overcome barriers to employment and training.  You will be responsible for supporting them through every stage of their journey, enabling participants to address their barriers and realise their aspirations.

This role is subject to a Basic DBS check.
