We are looking for a talented fundraiser, with a background in the cultural sector to join the Gardens, Libraries & Museums (GLAM) Team within the Development and Alumni Engagement team of the University of Oxford.
You will be working with such iconic institutions as the Pitt Rivers Museum, the Oxford Botanic Gardens, the History of Science Museum and the Oxford University Museum of Natural History. In this role in any given week you might see a dodo, extraordinary thousand-year old Chinese ceramics, insects collected by Darwin, the first scientifically described dinosaur and drawings by John Ruskin, as well as work on projects involving saving the largest flower in the world or supporting world-leading restitution work.
The collections are important and renowned on their own accounts, but also play a key role in the University’s research. In addition, they are the open doors to the University of Oxford, encouraging a diverse range of communities to engage our academics and curators.
Your role will include fundraising for major gifts to support the museums and gardens, and leading a team of fundraisers who will work to support a wide range of activities across the institutions. You will also work closely with the Directors and other curators to raise funds from a range of donors and supporters. You will work with the Associate Director of Development – GLAM to develop strategies and manage relationships with the Directors and be part of the wider fundraising team for GLAM.

Key responsibilities

Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategies and new initiatives to drive growth and innovation in the range of charity services (paid and un-paid) we currently provide, drawing on sectoral insights and taking a user-led approach as much as possible.

Programme Oversight & Line Management: Manage the delivery to a very high standard of all our charity capacity-building and training programmes, including being a highly effective line manager for our team of dedicated charity services programme managers.

Grant Writing and Income Generation: Develop funding proposals and grant applications to secure new and repeat funding support for Media Trust's charity programmes and activities and lead the development team in meeting income targets through paid for training for clients including charities and funders.

Partnership Development: Forge effective partnerships with relevant stakeholders including other charities, infrastructure bodies like NCVO, ACEVO and The Heritage Alliance, as well as delivery partners including Equally Ours and Climate Outreach, government bodies, and trusts and foundations.

What we are looking for in you

Senior Leadership Experience: Proven track record of senior leadership in the charity sector, ideally at an infrastructure or membership organisation, including line management experience and responsibility for managing budgets.

Training & Capacity Building Programme Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in designing, delivering and measuring the impact of training and other capacity-building programmes for charities and under-represented communities, ideally by strengthening their media, communications and/or digital skills.

Grant Writing Experience: Strong grant writing skills with a successful history of securing funding from diverse sources including government grants, trusts and foundations, and corporates.

Role Overview:
The Head of Marketing & Sales plays a pivotal role in driving the organisation’s growth. You will develop and execute multi-channel strategies delivered across the funnel from enhancing brand visibility and generating leads, nurturing leads to conversion, right the way through to supporting customer retention and advocacy. This varied role offers the opportunity to expand market reach with our current services, as well as helping launch new products into existing and untapped markets, while delivering a strong RoI.

Unlocked Graduates exists to break cycles of reoffending. Currently, prison isn’t a place which successfully does this – the average prisoner has 16 previous convictions, and 55% of those released from short-term sentences reoffend within one year. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, business-driven, and forward-thinking CRM professional to join the Leadership team at Starlight as Head of Data & Business Insight. Used to managing the big picture of data, insight and IT in an organisation where evidence-based decision making is key, you’ll think creatively, find pragmatic solutions and be used to juggling multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment. With a real focus on Fundraising Data and Insight, though working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you’ll be skilled in being both supportive coach and critical friend, able to encourage and to challenge the thinking of those around you. To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrable experience in using data to drive evidence-based decision making to grow fundraising income in a small or medium sized organisation. You will have solid experience of driving business results and of building business thinking in colleagues, influencing, and challenging as needed, together with substantial experience of working with and generating insight from high-volume databases within a fundraising environment. You should have strong experience in organisation wide efficient and effective data management, as well as experience in managing change projects, working alongside, and influencing key stakeholders to achieve the best outcome for the organisation. You will need to have a commitment to personal growth through self-awareness and self-management, together with good working knowledge and understanding of cyber security. You will need to enjoy being part of a small team where individuals thrive on working outside of their designated roles from time to time to get things done. Although not essential, experience of using Power BI / Power Query / DAX for data analytics would be advantageous.

About the Role:
Reporting to the Deputy Director of Development (Alumni and Support Engagement), you will be at the forefront of driving their insight program to achieve DAE's ambitious objectives. You will provide strategic input and leadership to the Department and the University on how alumni and supporter information can be used most effectively. This is to maximise engagement and fundraising income for the University of Warwick. This role will lead the Prospect Research and Information Systems teams in creating the culture, infrastructure, and programs necessary to enable insight-driven decision-making at both strategic and operational levels across DAE.
About you:
As Head of Systems and Insight, ideally you will have an understanding and knowledge of fundraising and alumni engagement systems, including Blackbaud, CRM, Raiser's Edge, and other fundraising platforms. In addition, you will:
- Be a strategic leader with experience in data and insight, with a strong understanding of data governance principles, data management, and data quality concepts.
- Working knowledge of UK, charity sector regulations and guidance, for example Fundraising Regulator's Code of Fundraising Practice
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
- A proven track record of successfully leading and managing a team, including performance management.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and strategically with individuals and teams at all levels and across functions.

We are looking for someone to work with a clear strategy and then develop, grow and successfully manage our Youth Advisory (YAG) and Alumni groups, as well as lead the engagement of families / support networks. Tommy's are a mid-sized charity and lead the way in their field. Established in 1992, their mission is to work towards making the UK the safest place in the world to give birth. They do this through research the causes of baby loss, providing information to make pregnancy safer, supporting families after baby loss and working to improve maternity care.

As the person flying the Data flag in the world of Tommy's, you will take accountability for maintaining, upgrading, and developing their fundraising database so that they can improve their donors' experience and communicate effectively with them. You will lead a team of two Database Officers and coach them to becoming a highly effective team.
As part of the role, you will develop strong relationships within the Fundraising team, helping to understand their needs. You will also develop and establish organisational ways of working with the database, including leading on training staff and developing a user manual to highlight good practice. As the data champion, you will be the main point of contact for data, reporting and analysis queries internally, delegating to the Database Officer as appropriate.

From developing our digital marketing across social media and a new website, to implementing a new visual identity, to underpinning our fundraising activities with creative and compelling communications, the breadth of this role provides a unique opportunity for someone to make a significant contribution to our ongoing success.
The Candidate
We’re looking for an outstanding marketing and communications leader who is strategically minded and delivery focused. They will be able to lead and develop an existing team and be adept at building and maintaining productive working relationships. They will seek out new opportunities to add value to existing activity and develop new ventures in collaboration with colleagues from a diverse range of different disciplines across the organisation. The ideal candidate will bring experience from a charity background and be used to supporting a broad portfolio of income generating activities.
