Role Purpose
The Head of Research and Delivery will lead the delivery of programmes, client-facing projects and research initiatives for GDI Hub CIC, working across the key themes of Disability Inclusion, Inclusive Design and Cities, Climate Change, Gender, Financial Inclusion and Assistive Technology. It is expected that the role holder will have considerable experience across at least two of these themes and an appetite for both broadening and deepening their knowledge across the others. They will also collaborate with research leads and teams based across GDI Hub including the Academic Research Centre (ARC) at UCL.
This is a senior, strategic, role responsible for team management and leading key projects, leading client, donor and government relationships, and providing strategic subject matter expertise. It would suit someone with a proven-track record in the sector and requires a strong aptitude for strategic thinking, delivery management and the creation of tenable and evidence-based recommendations. They will be creative and collaborative with a drive to make the world a fairer place, inspiring others to do the same.
They will be responsible for delivery on projects and research under their remit and contribute to the development of new projects and research, working closely with partners and clients. Current funders, partners and clients include the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, Asian Development Bank, Climate Investment Funds, UNICEF, Carbon Trust and Expo City Dubai. This will involve leading a permanent team of six, which is expected to grow to eight by Q4 2024-25, and any external consultants brought online as required to deliver across a portfolio of work.
Role Responsibilities
Project and Research Delivery and Management
- Lead a growing portfolio of projects under the Research and Delivery team including a current portfolio of circa 10 active projects.
- Leadership of Global Thematic Goods sub-programme under the AT2030 programme, with direct project leadership of 2 workstreams (inclusive infrastructure and inclusive climate resilience).
- Lead the intellectual and strategic management of project delivery, ensuring that projects deliver clear messages aligned to programme targets, client needs and project scope and deliver impact.
- Take overall responsibility for the quality and timeliness of project delivery and deliverables, ensuring project management processes and procedures are being implemented correctly and outputs are to the highest standard in line with GDI Hub style.

Blue Ventures is a marine conservation organization that puts people first. We support coastal fishers in remote and rural communities to rebuild fisheries, restore ocean life and build lasting pathways to prosperity. Our work began two decades ago in Madagascar’s remote coastal communities and is growing globally.
Across a dozen countries, we’re partnering with traditional fishers and community organizations to design, scale, strengthen and sustain fisheries management and conservation at the community level. We bring partners together in networks to advocate for reform, and share tools and best practices to support fishing communities across the globe.
Summary job description
Our Technical Knowledge team oversees Blue Ventures’ technical pillars (Secure Rights, Community-Based Fisheries Management, Food Security and Financial Inclusion) and supports the use of data for decision making, providing tools, training, and guidance to partners and Blue Ventures’ staff around the world. This team integrates expertise and deep practical experience with pragmatism and a desire to enable others to deliver lasting change, by distilling global best practices and knowledge into usable tools, appropriate training, and responsive guidance and support. The team is also responsible for delivering peer learning exchanges and knowledge sharing events both online and face to face across the organisation in addition to overseeing technical publications.
We are currently recruiting for an exceptional individual to be part of this global team, leading a critical pillar of the strategy on Food Security. This individual will oversee the Food Security function, including the development, refinement, and roll out of tools and training to support partners around the world as they establish initiatives targeting fish production, availability and affordability, to promote nutrition, food security and financial returns of fishers through assessments of the nutritional value of key fisheries, sustainable fisheries management, waste reduction initiatives, and interventions that increase the economic and nutritional value, as well as durability, of fish catch. As such our technical team plays a key role in identifying, collating, sharing, and transferring key insights and successful approaches, updating information, training, tools, and guidance around the world, and building a community of practice around each of the pillar themes.
At the heart of Blue Ventures’ 2030 strategy is an unwavering commitment to empowering communities through participatory collection, feedback, and use of fisheries and ecological data for adaptive management, and playing a leadership role in our sector to make this the norm. The Global Head - Food Security will have a strong understanding and technical experience of food security and nutrition programmes in coastal fishing communities and initiatives to reduce losses in catch value (both nutritional and financial), with proven skills in coaching and team building skills and effective management capacity in leading a multi-disciplinary team and working cross-functionally.

The Direct Marketing Manager, Retention, is a newly developed role at the DEC, responsible for shaping and delivering new and existing supporter journeys for DEC individual, community and legacy donors, and leading a programme of improvement across all major contact points between the DEC and the public.
The Direct Marketing Manager, Retention will:
- Contribute to and develop DEC direct marketing strategies, including the refreshing, implementation and analysis of the DEC’s segmentation, to maximise future income and continually improve the retention of individual supporters for future emergency appeals,
- Lead on the production of retention and reporting back materials for individual and community supporters,
- Manage the development and maintenance of specific supporter journeys,
- Develop and oversee the materials and supporter positioning for a light touch and mainly reactive legacy marketing programme for the DEC.
Key responsibilities include:
Strategy and Planning
- Develop and implement the direct marketing retention strategy, ensuring that past learnings are built upon, and new ideas are tested.
- Develop and implement specific audience journeys for segments across both the life cycle of a DEC appeal and between appeals.
- Ensure timely and relevant communications to all direct marketing, community, and legacy audiences on the impact of their donations.
- Build an improved supporter journey strategy for new, repeat, and lapsed donors.

Fundraising
- Develop the DEC’s donor journeys for individuals and community supporters, monitoring the development of segments and the engagement of repeat donors.

- Support the stewardship of community fundraisers and groups in conjunction with the Supporter Services team.
Networking and building relationships
- Develop excellent working relationships with the DEC’s suppliers including creative agencies, media agencies, SMS and email suppliers, and the print/mailing house.
- Work with permanent and temporary staff at the DEC during appeals to maximise the success of the appeal.

About the Role
This role will provide senior marketing leadership to the Acquisition Squad. Working closely with the Head of Acquisition, you will lead the planning and delivery of our effective acquisition programme, to deliver growth in our Individual Giving supporter base and income.
You'll lead the development of multi-channel marketing campaigns. Working collaboratively with our partner agencies, you'll have accountability for delivery across the full range of Individual Giving channels (e.g., DRTV, PPC, Paid Social, Display, Offline, Telemarketing).
Working within a multi-disciplinary team, you'll build strong relationships to collaboratively achieve targets, in a fast-moving and dynamic environment. Leveraging agile principles, you'll adapt plans as needed – learning rapidly and responding to change, while keeping our supporters at the heart of everything you do.
In this role, you will:
- Lead marketing planning and delivery as part of a multi-disciplinary team to acquire new supporters – using insight and data to understand our audiences needs and motivations to build long term relationships
- Work with the Head of Acquisition to ensure the Regular Giving and Single Giving income targets are achieved
- Lead on the development of multi-channel marketing plans, with a focus on audience, to drive ambitious targets across supporter acquisition and lead generation campaigns
- Be accountable for the delivery of acquisition marketing across DRTV, PPC, paid social, display, offline channels and telemarketing
- Lead the team's relationship with the media buying agency to buy and optimise media
- Cultivate collaborative relationships with a range of key partners, including telemarketing, production companies and fulfilment agencies, and motivate and inspire these partners to deliver their best for Save the Children
- Work with Head of Acquisition to develop and manage Squad budgets. This includes planning, reporting, and re-forecasting.

- With Analyst squad members, analyse marketing effectiveness and ensure supporter insight and data analysis play a pivotal role in our marketing. Drive a test and learn approach to improve all of our outputs and ensuring learnings are effectively shared across the department, and recommendations implemented
- Develop a cohesive supporter experience ensuring alignment across all supporter touchpoints, to deepen engagement and drive long term value
To be successful, it is important that you have:
- Significant experience in marketing including developing complex and integrated multi-channel marketing plans
- Extensive experience in Individual Giving acquisition programmes, including developing audience led marketing campaigns to acquire new regular giving donors
- Outstanding project management skills and experience with a proven ability to plan and manage activity that delivers complex projects on time and to budget
- Experience of effectively managing external partners, including knowledge and experience of working with media agencies to plan, buy and optimise paid media, creative agencies, telemarketing and fulfilment agencies
- Experience of developing fundraising and / or marketing assets to drive engagement and action
- Experience of developing engaging supporter journeys across channels to deepen engagement with supporters and drive further action

The Head of Development will line manage a small team of two in collaboration with the Communications Manager – the Development & Communications Coordinator, and the Marketing & Communications Coordinator.
The team are small and friendly, comprising of passionate and dedicated people who share the organisation’s vision of just and equitable access to music education for all. As Head of Development you will:
- Work alongside the Chief Executive to develop and implement the fundraising strategy and develop marketing and communications efforts, ensuring cohesive and impactful messaging to effectively engage donors and stakeholders
- Lead on optimising income from trusts & foundations, individuals, corporates and legacies
- Personally manage a diverse portfolio of trusts, foundations and statutory sources with focus on securing 5- and 6-figure gifts
- Deliver a high standard of supporter care tailored to the level of giving, including nurturing their successful new Legacy Club
- Manage an annual series of fundraising events, from relaxed open days to formal receptions
- Create a persuasive Case for Support and equip trustees and staff to advocate effectively for our work
Ideal skills and experience include:
- Experience of securing 5- and 6-figure grants from a range of trust, statutory and/or individual sources
- Tailoring applications to appeal to a diverse range of funders/donors, which may include drawing together distinct areas of activity to create bespoke packages
- An outgoing, approachable and professional manner in dealing with donors, prospects and other stakeholders
- Enthusiasm for working with young artists and musicians and broadening access to participatory arts for all young people
