About the Job
The Head of Finance will provide strategic leadership and oversight of HelpAge International's financial operations. This role is essential in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of HelpAge and will supervise over six Finance Business Partners dispersed in different countries globally. The position holder will be expected to have a good understanding of, and working experience with UK financial laws and policies as well managing various donors rules and regulations.
As Head of Finance, you will –
• Manage the Global Finance function (2 Senior Finance Business Partners, Senior Finance Officer, Systems & Management Accountant), to ensure a professional finance service that delivers on organisational strategy.
• Lead in the preparation of the annual income and expenditure budget, UK statutory accounts, proper accounting for VAT, annual audit. Provide advice and guidance on donor financial reporting
• Lead on the preparation of financial management information, ensure the financial accounting system is developed and maintained to meet organisational accounting needs.
• Produce monthly management accounts for Directors
• Ensure adequate financial support to the localisation of countries , including overseeing the relevant financial processes and reporting.
Skills and experience required
You will be someone with:
• A fully qualified and recognised accountancy qualification e.g., ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
• Strong hands-on accountancy experience with relevant experience working in a complex international NGO
• Experience of the production and interpretation of management accounts.
• Ability to design and implement new financial procedures.
• Proven ability to lead a diverse team of finance professionals and ability to work with senior managers on financial issues and with non finance staff.
• Knowledge and experience of the production donor reports including EC, UN, ECHO, USAID, DEC, GFFO and understanding of their compliance requirements.

Secondary breast cancer, also known as metastatic, advanced or stage IV breast cancer, is a cancer that has spread beyond the breast to other parts of the body. Parts of the body affected are usually the bones, liver, lungs, brain or the skin. Secondary breast cancer can be treated but it cannot be cured. Treatments aim to control and slow down the disease to enable patients to have the best possible quality of life for as long as possible.
About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Marketing and Communications Officer with experience of working on effective, creative and inspiring marketing and communications plans, from inception to conclusion.
To succeed in this you must have significant knowledge of developing, using and managing a range of communication channels and platforms, brand development and marketing, and a sound understanding of stakeholder development. You must also have specific experience managing complex projects or directing a communication project with different stakeholders while taking an audience-first approach. The purpose of the role is to provide the strategic, financial, and operational leadership for SEA working closely with the Board of Trustees and Senior Leadership Team (SLT), whilst ensuring the charity has a diverse team and is survivor centred in all it does.
Strategic leadership
- Work with the Board of Trustees to develop an ambitious survivor-centred strategy for SEA in accordance with the vision, mission, strategic priorities, and values of the charity.

LOCATION OF THE POST HOLDER
You will be remote working and will be provided with the equipment and tools required to deliver this work. You will need a secure environment and access to a stable internet connection. You may be occasionally required to travel to the NUM head office at Unit 209, 46-50 Oldham St, Manchester, M4 1LE but all your costs will be covered by NUM. On Occasion, you will be required to travel anywhere within the United Kingdom but shall not be required to work outside the United Kingdom for any continuous period of more than one month.
About NUM:
National Ugly Mugs (NUM) is an award-winning charity with a mission to ‘end all forms of violence against sex workers.’ NUM provides a mechanism for sex industry workers to report crimes and harm they experience and share this information within their communities to warn others of potentially dangerous individuals and situations.
We have a dedicated casework team of industry experts who support sex workers to further access criminal justice remedies and other services as determined by victims/survivors to cope and recover from crimes they experience in the ways they choose. We also host a range of other projects in racial justice, mental health, drop-in support (Scotland), and vocational exploration.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The casework team is at the heart of NUM. We provide vital support from assistance through the criminal justice journey to essential emergency financial support. We are looking for a coordinator to lead our casework team. If you are driven, have a keen eye for detail, can effectively motivate others in a demanding and emotive area of work with the ability to support people in an empathetic and trauma informed way then this could be the role for you.
This role will specifically focus on the day-to-day running of the casework team alongside carrying your own caseload. The work involves utilising and monitoring our digital platform and CMS maintaining and monitoring the documentation of cases and coordinating responses to ensure sex workers received the high standard of support they deserve, to prevent and recover from violence as well as seek justice and recourse. The Victim Support Casework Coordinator is responsible for maintaining high standards for all digital, individualised and in-person support provided by the case work team. All responsibilities can be grouped under five umbrella categories. The successful candidate will evidence suitability for the role based on the strength areas below:
1) Management: Manage the operations and administration associated with victim and vocational support case work.
2) Leadership: Lead and motivate the team of national case workers towards service excellence. The best leaders can also be led. The successful candidate will value the lived and learned experiences on the case work team and ensure that everyone works to their strengths, and strives for the best outcomes for sex workers.
3) High Standards: Support good performance and quality outcomes for sex workers.
4) Creative and Innovative: ability to strategise and problem-solve. Sex workers experience forms of violence before and after accessing support. At NUM, our principle of 'Sex Workers First' means that we work with them to achieve the outcomes that they desire. Sex workers are in control of their healing and recovery, and it will be the successful candidate's job to ensure that lives are improved as a result of contact with NUM.
5) Well-being Focused: Provide care for the health, safety and welfare of the case work team and the sex workers we serve.
Day-to-day team tasks include, but are not limited to the following.

Managing your own caseload, providing individualised support to sex workers alongside your leadership role ensuring that sex workers are put at the forefront of all services offered. Maintaining our high standard of support.

Continued monitoring and development of the NUM platform backend functions to find efficiencies and boost productivity. Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on new policies and service priorities, new platforms/ procedures, and new innovations or services.

Problem-solving to ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the casework team eg, Managing resource and rota’s including leave and absences, Delegation of task where appropriate to the casework team

Audit overview and quarterly reporting to Manager of support services with responsibility for data management and the production of case studies.

External communications with practitioners to ensure best practice of utilising NUM service, promoting NUM membership where possible and attending external meetings as a NUM representative where required.

Host or contribute to the ongoing meetings of the National ISVA/SWISVA forum and continue to foster useful and productive spaces for SWISVAs (specialist sex work ISVA’s) throughout the UK to share experiences, insights towards delivering quality support services to sex workers with maintaining high service standards and prioritising self-care.

Essential Skills and Experience

Demonstrable casework skills, with experience in delivering advice, information, emotional and practical support and advocacy in partnership with health, wellbeing and criminal justice outcomes for individuals who may have experienced traumatic events.

To provide high level, quality administrative support to The Harmony Project Schools Team to ensure the smooth delivery of the second field trial in support of the idea of a Nature Premium, funded by the Aurora Trust.
Key Tasks:
Project Set Up
- To coordinate applications and recruitment of schools to the field trial, maintaining the SharePoint and Daylite systems.
- To coordinate agreements and grant distribution to successful schools using DocuSign software.
- To work with Schools & Curriculum Resources Coordinator to ensure that the proposed projects incorporate progression towards integration of a Harmony approach to the curriculum
- To support all schools in accessing the initial training films on the Harmony approach and principles
- To coordinate introductory live webinar for all schools
Monitoring and Evaluation
- To monitor the weekly evaluation reports, and ensure schools complete them
- To gather data from participating schools i.e. numbers and demongraphics
- To analyse evaluation data into raw findings to feed into the project evaluation report
- To support the writing of the project evaluation report
- To coordinate team members’ zoom meetings with and visits to participating schools
- To arrange photography, permissions and indexing of photos gathered during the projects

- To run a weekly, internal project management meeting, and where appropriate issue agendas, minutes, actions and zoom link creation

- To attend the weekly Monday morning Schools on-line team meeting
- Welcome and invited to attend the weekly Thursday morning wider, in-person Resources team meeting in Walton-on-Thames.

- To coordinate celebration event or events at the end of the project. These may be on line or in real life.

About the role
This is a new role within the Philanthropy and Strategic Partnerships team responsible for developing and leading our major donor programme. Myeloma UK is embarking on an ambitious five-year income generation strategy, which aims to increase income from £5m to £10m by 2028. This position will play a critical role, working alongside the Head of Philanthropy and Strategic Partnerships to double the income we raise from major donors and family trusts by securing 5-6 figure grants for a range of innovative and life changing programmes – including patient and family support, research and advocacy. The Philanthropy Manager is also responsible for managing and supporting the Philanthropy Officer in securing mid to high level donations from individuals.
The major donor programme at Myeloma UK is established - we have a strong community of existing high-level supporters and have identified significant potential donors within our community - but these opportunities have not been fully leveraged in the past. Building on this foundation, and a major fundraising Gala planned for Spring 2024, there is a significant opportunity to transform this area of fundraising and this role will be instrumental in delivering a step change in our approach. The role requires outstanding relationship building skills, and the ability to work with high-net-worth individuals, to build credibility and trust and inspire them to support Myeloma UK.
About you
You will be an experienced major donor fundraiser with the ability to secure 5-6 figure gifts and lead others to do the same. You will be a strategic thinker, who is ready to lead and implement our major donor strategy alongside the Head of Philanthropy and Strategic Partnerships.
We need someone with exceptional relationship management skills with the ability to nurture high value relationships and also work closely with senior colleagues, Trustees and other volunteers to build deep and long-lasting donor relationships. It will be crucial to work closely with colleagues across the charity to identify fundraising priorities, develop fundraising propositions and involve them in the cultivation and stewardship of key relationships.
You will be a skilled communicator and negotiator with the ability to communicate complex scientific information in an engaging way. We need someone who can build relationships from scratch, uncover donor motivations and convey the importance of Myeloma UK’s work to inspire support.

The Role
As a Business Development Lead, you will work under the direction of the Head of Business Development to:
- Increase the number, range and value of contracts and services secured, in line with our strategic objectives
- Build and maintain a range of relevant partnerships to support the winning of new business
- Maintain up-to-date market and academic research available to the team on the CRM or other systems
- Develop and conduct effective business pitches to key decision makers and ensure that they are kept relevant by regular reviews and updates
- Lead on the preparation and writing of tender responses
Working Hours
This is a full-time, permanent role, working 35 hours per week.
What you’ll need
To be considered as a Business Development Lead, you will need:
- Demonstratable relationship and/or stakeholder management experience
- Sales conversations and sales conversion experience
- Financial modelling experience
- Experience of leading on business development opportunities across a charity
- A strong understanding of the Health & Social Care sector with the ability to identify business opportunities
- The ability to conduct PESTLE Analysis, research, and identification of opportunities for development
- Proven experience in preparing and writing successful tender responses
- To be educated to degree level or have experience gained within the voluntary sector or similar industry

A bit about the role
Reporting into the Senior High Values Operations Manager, your remit will be to lead the Prospect Research Function to engage with fundraising teams to drive forward activity in four key areas of prospect research: identification, prospect management, due diligence and data management, leading to the development of robust supporter pipelines in key areas of growth, and opportunities to maximise supporter lifetime value to the organisation.
How you'll help to create brighter futures
- Produce top line and in-depth biographical and professional research on individuals, trusts, and companies for high value fundraising teams, as well as the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams (ELT and SLT).
- Line management responsibility to deliver prospecting and pipeline activities
- Work with Fundraising Heads and Leads to develop prospecting strategies for the identification of new high value prospects.
- Undertake strategic network-mapping, in line with Fundraising teams' activity plans, to understand the best opportunities for engaging with current and future high value prospects.
- Lead prospect portfolio reviews for the Philanthropy team to assess the health of the pipeline.
- Devise and deliver training to the Philanthropy and Events Teams.
- Work with the ELT and the SLT to manage the process involved with the Charity's Donation Acceptance and Refusal Policy from end to end.
Let's talk about you
- Experience of prospect research including identifying and prioritising prospects, network mapping, ethical screening and developing gift capacity ratings.
- Experience of creating processes to capture activity in relationship management.
- Experience of using and interrogating relational databases, ideally Raiser's Edge and Salesforce.
- An established awareness of the current major gift, corporate, trust and foundation and statutory landscape in the UK and wider economic trends.
- An enquiring mind, with the confidence and persona to build excellent relationship with colleagues at all levels.
- Ability to deal with confidential matters and act with discretion.
- Capable of remaining calm under pressure while maintaining highest levels of accuracy.
- Flexible approach to work and to apply initiative, creatively and laterally.
- Ability to line manage staff.
