We are seeking an experienced interim senior leader to join an Executive Team at an innovative arts centre in the heart of Deptford.

Position: Executive Director (interim)

About the role:

As Executive Director you will be working for a thriving arts centre, which exists to inspire, develop and support creativity for the benefit of the community, encompassing the London Borough of Lewisham and beyond.  You will support a period of reshaping the business model and the transition from two outgoing senior posts to a team of three new department heads. You will bring new perspective and energy as well as solid understanding of the nuts and bolts of running a 21st arts organisation.

About you:

We are now looking for a confident leader to work alongside a team of experienced senior manager, you will need to bring with you the following skills and experience:

• Substantial recent experience in a relevant senior management role
• Experience of management in a venue licensed for public entertainment, including demonstrable understanding of health and safety and facilities
• Experience of managing and developing staff and relationships
• High level organisational, IT and administrative skills
• Experience of project and overall budget management
• Experience of contracting and confidence to deal with legal components for personnel, services, artist/production contracts
• Personal licence or willingness to obtain one

Although not essential, a Health & Safety qualification or extensive knowledge of H&S would be highly desirable for this role.

Cardiomyopathy UK is a growing Charity that supports people affected by heart muscle disease. As our Charity grows, we’re delivering more events and providing more resources than ever before. You can help us in our ambition to increase our reach and provide holistic services that help people to live well with cardiomyopathy.

In this new role within the Charity, you’ll be working within the Services department to expand the number of in-person conferences and events that we provide for both people affected by cardiomyopathy and the health and social care professionals that treat and support them. Main duties and responsibilities will include: 

Document control

• Maintaining document templates and standards

Events Coordination

This is a remote (work from home) role. Our head office is located in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. Our events are across the UK, with 2024 seeing educational events in Liverpool and London. Programme Manager role

We are now looking for an enthusiastic and committed Programme Manager(s) to join our existing Programme Team in September 2024 on a full or part-time basis (6-month fixed-term with potential to extend).  As a Programme Manager, you will be responsible for managing the Yes Futures programmes in-person, in our partner primary and secondary schools in North London, Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire & Buckinghamshire.

Main Responsibilities

You will be one of a small team of Programme Managers, dedicated to delivering excellent programmes which make a positive difference to the lives of students.  The main responsibilities of the Programme Manager role are:

Programme delivery

• Responsible for the care and wellbeing of all students in your schools on the programme;
• Communicating with parents where necessary during the programme, by email, letter and telephone;
• Planning and delivering whole-group workshops for students;
• Planning and delivering information and celebration events for students and parents;
• Facilitating the in-person and online volunteer coaching team to deliver student coaching sessions. As well as delivering coaching sessions to students, where required;
• Developing business and charity partnerships for day trips;
• Planning and delivering the day trips included in the programme;
• Supporting the planning and delivery of the Into the Wild and World of Work day trips;
• Implementing discipline procedures, including reporting serious discipline issues;
• Implementing all necessary Health and Safety and Child Protection procedures, including recording and reporting any incidents;
• Ongoing communication with the school and Yes Futures head office regarding student engagement and progress.

Organisation and administration

• School onboarding, including ensuring that dates are planned, students are recruited and parental agreements are returned;
• Planning and organising the logistical elements of the programme (timetables, activities, sessions plans etc) through liaising with Yes Futures head office, school staff, businesses, charitable organisations and the rest of the Coaching team;
• Creation of Risk Assessments, parent letters and programme-related documents for schools;
• Sourcing materials needed for programme sessions, including lunches for trips;
• Assisting with finance and petty cash where required.

Management of volunteer Yes Futures Coaches

• Managing and developing the skills of your Coaching teams (usually 2-6 adults per school);
• Ongoing communication with your Coaching teams, to foster their enthusiasm and commitment;
• Supporting Coach recruitment for future programmes;
• Supporting the planning and delivery of training for Coaches;
• Maintaining accurate and secure records of Coaches’ personal information, absences, sickness and other relevant information.

Evaluation and reporting

• Facilitating the pre-, mid- and end of programme evaluations;
• Oversight and input of key student monitoring data and impact data;
• Debriefing and ongoing feedback collection from schools and Coaches;
• Ensure all work is carried out in an effective and timely manner to support continued high standards of the Yes Futures programmes.

Programme Managers will also be given the opportunity to support with other Head Office functions, including but not limited to:

• Strengthening our strategy, programme design and theory of change;
• Supporting the marketing of Yes Futures to new schools and customers;
• Developing our fundraising strategy through bid writing and other fundraising tasks;
• Establishing relationships with key partner organisations;
• Planning our future Ambassador offer and other pilot programmes.

About the role 

This is an exciting new post in the Communications Team at Glass Door. Reporting to the Head of Communications, this role will support the delivery of a new paid & organic digital marketing strategy, working closely & collaboratively with both the Comms & Fundraising Teams, as well as co-lead on the delivery of a new website. 

Through this role, we will ensure that all our existing supporters are actively communicated with and that we are regularly engaging with a range of new supporters through a unique & tailored approach.

What you will do as part of our team 

Marketing:  

• Work with all internal stakeholders to develop digital marketing campaigns across paid, earned and owned channels delivering against KPI’s for income, campaigning and brand awareness. 

• Co-manage delivery of multiple/ congruent campaigns, appeals & events to attract & engage new supporters - often working alongside key members of other teams including fundraising, operations and advocacy teams. 

• Co-lead on the project management & delivery of a new website

• Work collaboratively with the Digital Comms Officer to ensure all content is optimised for multiple purpose/platforms and in line with our brand guidelines 

• Contribute creative ideas to generate content for campaigns, news stories, blogs and social media 

• Oversee development and delivery of quarterly e-newsletters. Assist colleagues with their email marketing to ensure on brand and in line with overall digital calendar 

• Work closely with the Individual Giving Officer to run email marketing campaigns - including audience specific segmented email journeys

• Work closely with the Community & Corporate fundraising colleagues to ensure content and digital journeys are meeting their needs through an integrated marketing approach

Monitor impact 

• Monitor the impact of paid & organic marketing campaigns to report on key KPI’s and metrics. Using tools within social media platforms and Google analytics. 

• Work closely & collaboratively with the Digital Comms Officer to ensure all conversions of paid promotion are tracked effectively & efficiently 

• Analyse marketing journeys for collaborative Fundraising deliverables – including campaigns & appeals and create monthly reports to share success of conversions 

• Lead on the moderation and tracking of website usage 

• Lead on the evaluation of social media and online reach, create monthly reports, and assist with evaluating the effectiveness of campaigns & appeals 

• Lead on the monitoring and track Google ads & analytics 

• Monitor and follow trends within digital and innovation to improve the organisation’s digital presence and activities 

Strategy 

• Support the creation & delivery of the digital audit of GD web & socials 

• Support the creation & delivery of the GD Communications Strategy – specifically the digital marketing strategy 

• Support the Fundraising Team’s strategic promotion objectives of campaigns, appeals & challenge events

Other

• Attend and participate in relevant team meetings, and other ad hoc meetings when necessary 

• Undertake other ad hoc tasks as directed, such as assistance on Glass Door events and fundraising & challenge events

The position:

You will manage our Volunteer team, requiring exceptional communication, a natural affinity for people management and organisation, and an ability to inspire people to get involved with our work. You will be responsible for the overarching strategy and success of the Volunteer Program.

Line managing two members of staff, you will ensure our Volunteer team sets and meets their strategic goals, contributing to our organisational priorities. Developing strategies which effectively mobilise our volunteers to drive campaigning work, you’ll ensure volunteers make the biggest possible impact for animals whilst remaining engaged and supported.

This role reports into the Head of Programs, while working closely with the rest of the THL UK team.

Hours:

This is a temporary 12 month maternity cover, full-time position over Monday to Friday.

From 1st July 2024 we are piloting a four day working week across the whole of the UK organisation. This pilot is planned to run for 12 months, at which point a decision will be made by our Board of Trustees as to whether this will become permanent. Success of the trial relies on the organisation being able to achieve the same or improved level of impact in four working days as five, with staff experiencing either the same or improved levels of wellbeing. 

During the four day week pilot, working hours for this position will be reduced to 30 hours per week, spanning Monday to Thursday, with no reduction in salary. This will be a temporary change to the contractual terms for the successful candidate. The appointed person must be prepared to increase their working hours to 37.5 hours per week if a return to a five-day working week is decided. In the event that THL UK considers before the end of the trial period that the trial is having an adverse operational impact, we reserve the right to bring the trial to end on one month’s notice.

Who you are:

Volunteers will be your passion. You’ll have a deep understanding of the importance of this kind of supporter and how to best steward their specific experience and manage their unique needs. You'll understand how to best manage and recruit volunteers, mobilising our UK wide network effectively both remotely and on the ground in order to create change. You’ll know how to best communicate and engage with them in order to make the most out of their time and efforts. You are someone who wouldn’t ask volunteers to do something you wouldn’t do yourself and you’ll ideally have some kind of experience of campaigning in a paid or voluntary capacity (e.g. attending protests).

Someone with previous line management experience is desirable, as you’ll need to be able to effectively manage and lead your team of direct reports.

As a member of the Leadership level of the organisation, you’re someone who can meaningfully contribute to organisation wide decision making, thinking holistically and strategically across teams.

As the manager and leader of your team, you’ll have demonstrable experience of organising several deliverables or projects, which involve multiple teams, at any one time.

You can forward think strategically and collaboratively, considering the volunteer program as well as the work of other teams, setting realistic timelines with this in mind and meeting deadlines reliably.

You’re adaptable, and can work nimbly, with desirable experience working specifically within a campaign environment in some way, where things can change quickly and unexpectedly.

You’re someone who can keep your cool in challenging situations, being able to problem solve and reprioritise with ease to lead your team to success, even when things change at the last minute. You are able to continually evaluate and identify areas of improvement for the volunteer program, recognising key opportunities to evolve and adapt for the best possible impact for animals.

Home based, you’ll have a strong ability to work independently, but you’re also someone who can work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Primary Duties:

Management

Manages the Lead Grassroots Campaigns Coordinator and the Volunteer Program Administrator

• Ensures staff receive the training, resources and support to do their jobs effectively, encouraging the professional development of individual team members

• Manages and leads the Volunteer team to achieve agreed goals

• Develops volunteering goals, in collaboration with the Programs department, and is responsible for timely reporting and tracking of these

• Sets/clarifies job expectations and provides regular feedback, guidance and support to your team

• Empowers staff in the ongoing delivery of their work, from development of strategies and techniques through to successful day to day outputs

• Manages time off requests and approval of expenses for the Volunteer team members

• Manages overarching budget for Volunteer team

Strategy

• Develop and manage all plans and overarching strategy for our Volunteer team, including volunteer stewardship, recruitment and grassroots activism on the ground, ensuring the day to day is delivered effectively by the team

• Work together with the Head of Programs to develop and guide THL UK Volunteer strategy and activities, identifying key priorities and strategies to further the program

• Be an active member of the Programs department Leadership team, working closely with other managers within programs and the Head of Programs to deliver department goals

• Be an active member of the wider Leadership team across the organisation, contributing to organisation level decisions and working to ensure effective strategic alignment, ensuring Volunteer work is communicated successfully and opportunities for collaboration maximised

• Analyse & report on the effectiveness of activities delivered by the team, including timely goal reporting, feeding into funding proposals and more

• Observe and work with other organisations to learn new approaches and share/coordinate strategies, making connections with other organisations as required

Volunteering

• Lead our volunteer program to ensure our volunteers take action with us and remain engaged

• Ensure the Volunteer team organise effective and engaging actions and opportunities for our volunteers which contribute to our campaigns, working particularly closely with the Campaigns team

• Determine overarching training strategy, recruitment and internal processes for the volunteer program as a whole, with supporter experience at the heart

• Oversee our volunteering policies and procedures and their successful implementation, including regular reviews

• Ensure volunteering remains at the heart of what we do, you identify a diverse range of opportunities for our volunteers to get involved with across the entire organisation which ultimately contribute to campaign success, and high satisfaction amongst the volunteers themselves

In addition:

• Attend conferences, events, protests and actions as required

• Participate in team meetings including leading, note-taking and facilitation.

• Attend in-person workshops several times a year.

ABOUT MIGRATEFUL

Migrateful runs cookery classes led by refugees, asylum seekers and migrants who are on the journey to integration and gaining access to employment. Our cookery classes provide ideal conditions not just for learning English and building confidence, but also for promoting contact and cultural exchange with the wider community.

Since its establishment in 2017, Migrateful has made a profound impact on the lives of 92 cookery class teachers. Together, they have conducted over 3500 classes, sharing the rich tapestry of their cultures and cuisines with over 40,000 participants.

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role, you will support the Head of Chef Development in the organisation, recruitment, and facilitation of our Cookery Teacher Training Programme. You will also be responsible for developing, writing, and amending class documents for our cookery class experiences, including recipes, class plans, and allergen matrices.

Over time you will forge the skills to monitor classes and provide nuanced, effective feedback to Cookery Class Teachers to maintain and improve the quality of their teaching.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking a warm, empathetic, and engaging individual with exceptional organisational and communication skills for the role of  Chef Training Coordinator at Migrateful. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for people and inclusion, along with strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

They should be proactive, flexible, and creative in their approach to problem-solving. Experience with recipe development, food safety certification, and working with refugees, migrants, or non-native English speakers is highly desirable,  and professional or personal cookery experience would be a plus. Chef Training

• Supporting the Head of Chef Development in the planning, organisation, recruitment and facilitation of the Migrateful Cookery Teacher Training Programme in London

Chef Feedback

• Working with Chef Development and Operations Team to manage and distribute class feedback, update any changes to class documents and feedback to chefs
• Offering general support where needed to the Operations and Chef Development Team

• Establish good working relationships with Cookery Class Teachers and facilitators

Just Like Us is the LGBT+ young people’s charity and works with thousands of schools and young people across the UK through its programmes.

Our Education Programmes are focused on engaging primary schools, secondary schools and sixth form colleges across the UK to take part in our programmes and ensure LGBT+ young people can thrive. Just Like Us has already worked with thousands of schools and gained recognition for our Growing up LGBT+ report (2020) and our Positive Futures report (2023). Programme delivery:

• Support the Programmes Team to deliver our programmes, including Pride Groups, School Talks and School Diversity Week

Main Responsibilities:

Authorisation Work

To be considered for the role you will have the following, skills, knowledge, and experience:

You should have solid experience in applying decision-making frameworks and analysing information to make decisions against defined criteria. Demonstrable experience in effectively prioritising work in high-pressure environments with minimal supervision, along with a strong awareness of risk, is essential.

Proficiency with databases, a good understanding of regulation and supervision, and confident use of standard technology such as Outlook, Word, and Excel are required. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to understand, apply, and explain rules and regulations, and a flexible, adaptable approach to changing circumstances are crucial.

Additionally, you should have equivalent work experience from a regulatory body, membership organisation, or another institution where you have handled authorisation work.

Desirable experience for this role includes:

Having a law degree or a Graduate Diploma in Law, and familiarity with undertaking risk-based audits and applying standard project management principles. Experience in supporting committees, from agenda preparation to minute-taking, and managing projects is highly valued. Additionally, knowledge of the legal profession and an understanding of higher education in the UK are advantageous.
