A fantastic opportunity has arisen with a health membership charity for a Head of Finance, on a full-time, permanent basis. You will lead the Finance Function of the charity and be responsible for managing and maintaining this function, including financial processes, internal controls and documentation, planning and reporting.
The role is predominantly home based with a requirement to meet up on a monthly basis in central London. Please note, to begin with you may be required to be on-site more than once a month.
As Head of Finance, you will:
- Provide accurate and timely monthly reporting and analysis to a range of audiences from the Trustees to individual budget holders, encompassing income and expenditure and balance sheet reporting, ensuring that reports are tailored to the relevant audience
- Prepare year-end statutory accounts for the charity and its subsidiary company and collate all required disclosure information to meet audit, Board, and statutory deadlines
- Lead the budget setting process, working across the whole organisation. Maintain formal budget delegations on behalf of the CEO and keep them under review
- Lead on preparation for the Audit Committee
- Review and improve current systems and processes
The successful applicant will:
- Have significant demonstrable experience in finance within the charity sector, in a similar role
- Be fully qualified (hold a Professional Chartered Accountancy Qualification)
- Have demonstrable experience of financial planning, reporting and preparation of year end accounts
- Have experience in developing and overseeing the operation of finance systems

Purpose of the role:
To support the Development and Fundraising function of the Trust, developing long term relationships and maximising income. The Head of Development will work alongside the Development Director and other staff to implement our Development Strategy, increasing income from Trusts and Foundations, Major Donors and Individual Givers and other sources.
Key responsibilities:
Relationship Development
· Nurture and develop relationships with existing donors, contributing to the collection of monitoring information ensuring continued support and engagement.
· To manage a portfolio of current and potential supporters to maintain, grow and/or revive their support for the Fellowship, implementing strategies for donor cultivation and stewardship.
Funding and partnership proposals
· To use research tools to identify and research Individual, Trust and Major Donor opportunities.
· To oversee the management of grant and trust income programme, ensuring production of effective, high quality proposals.
· To contribute to the achievement of the Fellowship’s target to raise both unrestricted and restricted funding.
· To maintain up-to-date information on the status of funding applications and grant management in Salesforce – our customer relationship management database.
Systems and processes
· To manage the development and implementation of systems and processes to record the development and engagement pipeline, ensuring that all key information is recorded consistently.
· Work with the finance team to ensure income regular income reconciliation and forecasting.
Other
· To line manage a Development Officer.
· To support the Churchill Fellowship’s internal due diligence approval processes.
· To provide cover to colleagues in their absence.
· To undertake any other reasonable duties as and when required.

The role
This is an important and exciting post for the organisation and as the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for leading best practice financial reporting and analysis for the charity. This is impactful and broad Head of Finance role, but to give an idea of focus, the core areas of delivery will include:

Hours:
This is a part time position of 28 hours per week over 5 days (or some of these days) with the working pattern to be agreed with the successful candidate.
From 1st July 2024 we are piloting a four day working week across the whole of the UK organisation. This pilot is planned to run for 12 months, at which point a decision will be made by our Board of Trustees as to whether this will become permanent. Success of the trial relies on the organisation being able to achieve the same or improved level of impact in four working days as five, with staff experiencing either the same or improved levels of wellbeing.
During the four day week pilot, working hours for this position will be reduced proportionately to 22.5 hours per week, spanning Monday to Thursday (or some of these days), with no reduction in salary. This will be a temporary change to the contractual terms with the successful candidate. The appointed person must be prepared to increase their working hours to 28 hours per week if a return to a five-day working week is decided.

The Head of South England & Wales is responsible for leading our vision to end the need for food banks in South England & Wales. We have had a community vet clinic on site at our historic Northwest London shelter since 1925. For nearly 100 years, our London clinic has delivered many tens of thousands of treatments to dogs and cats. Through our modern, well equipped veterinary clinic we provide a range of preventative veterinary treatments free of charge, and without judgment, to those who are unable to afford it. We also carry out a wide range of surgeries and treatments in order to prepare the Mayhew animals in our care for rehoming.

I am recruiting an interim Head of Finance for one of my very well known London based not for profit clients in the Arts sector.
They are looking for someone who can sit between the Director of Finance and the rest of the division, managing the finance team and overseeing day to day operations across the Finance function.
You will have 3 direct reports and a team of 15 under those 3 - whilst the successful candidate will be able to show a broad skill set across both management accounts and financial accounts, there is a very technically strong interim in place who is taking the lead on all financial accounting tasks.
