Job description

Job Purpose

To provide expert HR advice, guidance and support, championing an engaging, motivating and values-based culture which has older people at its heart.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the People & OD Lead in designing, developing and delivering HR interventions aligned with the People Plan
  • Provide high quality HR advice and guidance, coaching and supporting managers to enable them to progress solutions to achieve their business plans, working in collaboration with the Learning & Development Manager where required
  • Maintain HR operational excellence, ensuring that all HR transactional activity is undertaken effectively and efficiently and that processes are monitored and reviewed including recruitment, on-boarding, payroll and benefits administration
  • Manage complex HR issues and casework
  • Demonstrate collegiate, empowering and inspirational leadership;
  • Providing effective performance management of any reports with agreed objectives and development plans in place to enable them to perform their roles effectively;
  • Effectively managing any budgetary or financial responsibility, embedding a culture of financial awareness and scrutiny;
  • Maintaining compliance and adherence with all processes to ensure good governance
  • Oversee recruitment and selection, advising on job descriptions and recruitment strategies, developing managers capability in selection techniques, and ensuring safe recruitment practices and procedures for relevant roles
  • Regularly review policies, procedures, and managers guidance notes to ensure legal compliance and best practice
  • Support with induction and training delivery
  • Develop and utilise HR metrics to support decision making

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • CIPD qualified or equivalent
  • Excellent knowledge of employment law and best practice and of undertaking complex casework
  • Demonstrable experience of undertaking and managing HR operations / HR transactional activity
  • Demonstrable experience of coaching and supporting managers
  • Demonstrable experience of implementing process improvements
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work at pace and manage competing priorities
  • Customer focused, with excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • A demonstrable passion for, and affinity with, our cause.
