Purpose of the Role
This exciting new role is about creating connections, building ecosystems and developing and strengthening relationships that power social justice movements. As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will work closely with the CEO to lead our partnerships and community engagement work — creating the enabling conditions and networks that help youth-led movements grow, sustain, and make lasting change.
You will take lead on:
- Partnering with other funders to resource youth-led change, including co-designed and co-held programmes with other foundations.
- Developing community partnerships based on the needs and priorities of the young people we are here to serve - including charities, local businesses, and local authorities.
- Understanding the landscape of youth-led change and social justice work, identifying gaps in support and guiding our investment to help fill them, both at the national and local level.

In 2024, a staggering 4.1 million UK women experienced economic abuse at the hands of their current or former partner. The rising cost of living has only exacerbated the devastated impact of this form of domestic abuse.
Surviving Economic Abuse (SEA) is the only UK charity dedicated to raising awareness of economic abuse and transforming responses to it.
Since our founding in 2017, we’ve proudly campaigned successfully for the recognition of economic abuse in UK law and influenced wide-ranging systemic change to transform responses to it. We're now entering an ambitious new phase, and we’re seeking a dynamic, strategic and values-led Head of Income as part of the Senior Leadership Teamto help drive it forward.
This is a critical time for SEA. With a bold three-year strategy now in place, we’re looking for an experienced income-generation leader to oversee and diversify our income streams — across high-net-worth giving, corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations, and earned income through consultancy and training. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Income will play a vital role in shaping the future of the organisation and enabling us to scale our impact.
The Head of Income will lead a talented team, including our Senior Fundraising Manager (trusts and foundations) and Corporate Development Manager (strategic multi-stakeholder partnerships), and collaborate closely with our CEO, Trustees and earned income delivery teams (consultancy and training) whilst also being hands on in relationship development. Your approach will be collaborative, survivor-centred and driven by SEA’s values. We are looking for a passionate and ambitious Head of Fundraising to lead and grow our voluntary income. Your focus will span the full range of fundraising activities, from statutory and trust funding to developing and increasing income across major donor giving, legacies, corporate partnerships, and individual giving.

As Head of Fundraising, you will work closely with the CEO and senior leadership team to increase philanthropic support and voluntary income. This role will give you the opportunity and responsibility to build on our successful fundraising and extend our appeal to new donors as well as maintain our existing supporters. You will need demonstrable fundraising experience and the ability to work confidently as a strategic thinker as well as a practical fundraiser. This is an exciting opportunity to take a senior role in FILE’s high-performing fundraising team and secure support from some of the world’s leading foundations working in climate.
FILE is seeking an ambitious and experienced Philanthropic Partnerships Lead to lead relationships with significant funders and play a critical role in shaping and advancing FILE’s ambitious fundraising strategy. The Philanthropic Partnerships Lead will take the lead across a portfolio of existing donors and seek new funding opportunities from major philanthropic foundations.
The Philanthropic Partnerships Lead will work closely with the Head of Philanthropic Partnerships and FILE leadership to shape fundraising and donor stewardship strategies and drive fundraising success. They will be comfortable operating at the most senior level externally to devise and deliver excellent donor experiences, and adept at navigating complex internal environments.

Key Responsibilities will include:
Donor relationship management and stewardship
The Philanthropic Partnerships Lead will lead on several significant funder relationships, co-ordinating internally with FILE Leadership, the Head of Philanthropic Parnterships and strategic experts to devise and deliver excellent stewardship and donor experiences.
This will include:
- Setting donor strategy and creating and managing bespoke donor stewardship plans and communications
- Leading externally in face-to-face and virtual meetings, events and engagements and managing complex donor relationships across multiple stakeholders and workstreams
- Leading on key relationship touchpoints including performance and strategy reviews
- Liaising across internal cross-functional teams to plan and co-ordinate donor engagement at multiple levels
- Leading on proposals, donor impact reports, budgets and other key outputs
Cultivating new funder relationships
Securing new support is a critical organisational priority and the candidate will have the opportunity to forge new relationships with major funders.
Alongside FILE leadership and the Head of Philanthropic Partnerships, they will be responsible for identifying and progressing new pipeline opportunities and become the fundraising lead for specific thematic areas and initiatives.
This will include:
- Devising and delivering bespoke cultivation strategies for key donor prospects
- Devising new funding propositions and strategies for high-priority areas and new strategic initiatives
- Working with FILE leadership and strategy leads to delivering engaging cultivation, including through meetings, calls and written materials
- Actively progressing opportunities through the fundraising pipeline and leading on proposal development for target opportunities
Providing strategic support to the Head of Philanthropic Partnerships and leading cross-organisational projects and initiatives
The Philanthropic Partnerships Lead will provide strategic counsel to the Head of Philanthropic Partnerships to develop and implement the wider fundraising strategy and take the lead on strategic initiatives such as:
- Designing and implementing an approach to communications planning and delivery, including through the creation and management of key communications content
- Designing, scoping and initiating new donor engagement products and experiences for most senior stakeholders
- Shaping donor engagement priorities and communications for FILE leadership
