The Head of Safeguarding is a senior role responsible for the overall management, development, and strategic direction of the Safeguarding Department. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals within the Diocese. The Head of Safeguarding will lead a team, drive strategic initiatives, oversee policies and procedures, and collaborate with stakeholders to create a culture of safeguarding excellence. The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of safeguarding principles, and the ability to navigate complex organisational structures.
The package includes a competitive salary, flexi-time scheme, an 8% non-contributory pension with an additional 5% matched contributions, hybrid working (50%), and 30 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays and four customary days a year (between Christmas and New Year).

The Role
As our Head of Finance, you will actively lead on the management of all aspects of the finance function to include;
· The production of interim and annual financial statements that comply with the requirements of the Charities SORP (FRS 102).
· Preparing all information and supporting documentation for the annual audit, and liaising with the National Audit Office, and the NFC’s external auditors.
· Supporting the internal audit process.
· Fulfilling the accounting and reporting requirements to Defra.
· Working closely with the Director of Corporate Services and Senior Leadership Team to develop strategic financial initiatives that support financial forecasting, goal setting and financial planning.
You will directly line manage the Finance Manager, ensuring the smooth operations of the finance function.
Your role will also involve:
· Preparing the annual budget

· Contributing to the development and management of financial systems and procedures
About You
To be considered as our Head of Finance, you will need:
· To be a qualified accountant with at least five years’ relevant experience
· Senior experience in the charity sector, including producing charity SORP compliant group accounts and monthly management accounts.
· Experience of the financial management of complex restricted funded projects
· Knowledge of charity trading and gift aid arrangements
· Good written and oral communication skills

JOB PURPOSE
The Head of Finance will lead a small, established finance team and will need to drive a successful business partnership approach with teams across the organisation, achieving greater efficiency both in ways of working and in purchasing and in investigating how our systems and technology can best meet our operational needs. This role is pivotal in the charity, and a great opportunity for an exceptional finance professional to contribute to the continuous improvement of the charity, finance function and team. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a diverse role across the full spectrum of the finance function, with the post holder responsible for the timely provision of management information as well as leading the Finance Team in delivering a full financial accounting and statutory reporting service to ensure UK for UNHCR is compliant with all financial regulation. Central to the role is the critical review and the effective communication of financial information and its implications to all levels of management while also delivering a high quality, customer focused finance partnering service to senior managers and SMT.
Key accountabilities:
- Oversee the provision of clear, accurate, timely and user friendly (financial and non-financial) management information to Directors, senior managers and staff to support the decision-making process and to allow managers to proactively manage their budgets.
- Take full management responsibility for the Finance Manager and Finance and Administration Assistant, leading, motivating and developing them so that that they are clearly focused, competent, and work effectively and efficiently.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and prepare statutory accounts, corporation tax, Gift Aid, VAT, Charity Commission and other statutory financial returns for the charity and its trading subsidiary as appropriate.
- Manage the annual audit process, being the point of contact for external auditors on operational matters relating to the audit process and providing information and documentation supporting the annual report and accounts.
- Develop and maintain various business and financial planning processes in support of the strategic needs of the organisation. This includes:
- Annual budgeting process.
- Overseeing financial reforecasts at regular (currently quarterly) intervals.
- Playing an active role in the broader business planning process.
- Planning and managing cash flows to meet the short and long-term needs of the organisation, maximising interest receivable where opportunities allow.
- Drive financial ownership, accountability and understanding across the organisation by ensuring budget owners have the knowledge, skills and tools to manage their budgets effectively. Ensure effective financial business partnering is underpinned by effective processes and guidance.
- Provide support to all teams and in particular the fundraising teams in the completion of funding applications and, following successful bids, ensuring appropriate processes are in place to monitor and report progress of Restricted Funding projects.
- Recommend an appropriate reporting process and format for restricted projects to enable their effective management by budget holders and for inclusion in management accounts reporting.
- Ensure the internal financial control environment is adequate to safeguard the Charity’s assets and is properly documented, and liaise as needed with external professional advisors, such as auditors and our bankers.
- Ensure premises and facilities are managed appropriately on a day-to-day basis, line managing the Finance and Administration Assistant, and taking the lead in matters relating to property leases.
- Develop own knowledge base and keep abreast of changes in the regulatory and financial environment, as well as new initiatives and best practice in the sector to ensure the charity’s policies and processes are fit for purpose and adapt as UK for UNHCR evolves.
- Support the Senior Management Team in other work as may be required from time to time and, as time allows, engage in the broader work of the charity to ensure the post holder has a recognisable profile as the leader of a key team and has an understanding of the work we do.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE
Knowledge:
- A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) with significant post qualification finance experience at a senior level.
Skills:
- Track record of success at a senior level within an organisation of comparable size and complexity, including hands on experience in delivering a bespoke finance service.
- Proven ability to communicate successfully with different stakeholders, both written and verbal, and including the ability to influence and negotiate.
- Ability to critically review, analyse and interpret complex financial and management information and present it clearly and appropriately to different audiences.
- Comfortable in dealing with detail as required given the constraints of working in a small team.
- Confident with a range of IT software, including hands on experience in managing, using and configuring accounting packages.
- Experience of software implementation, and ideally of accounting systems.
- Strong leadership skills including the ability to motivate and develop staff members.
- Knowledge of the legislative, tax and regulatory framework of companies, ideally in the not-for-profit sector.
- Track record in successful project management.

- Relevant post-qualification experience, to include managing a finance team.

The Head of Business Development role
We are looking for an experienced, confident, and committed Head of Business Development to join our growing charity. This senior role is part of GMYN’s leadership team and would be responsible for coming up with new business opportunities to generate income, as well as produce proposals to various funders and trusts.

The charity is growing and extending our programmes and services across Greater Manchester, and we will be launching our new three year strategy in July. Personal Specification
You don't have to have worked in the voluntary youth sector previously. Our aim is to find a suitable candidate that can meet the selection criteria below. This can be from a past/current income generation/business development role, or a role with transferable skills.

Estates management Management of the operations information systems. E.g. Inventory, Health and Safety logging Ensure that we receive competitive quotes for all works carried out on our sites in compliance with our financial regulations Ensure that all contractors are communicated with in a timely and professional manner on all works to be carried out Project management. Prepare business cases and feasibility studies; tender, award and manage projects Manage all compliance maintenance and work closely with the site team to ensure these are completed Scheduling of maintenance across all sites, maintaining a 3 – 5 year maintenance cycle that informs budget setting Work with Heads of Service to source and prepare appropriate buildings/spaces in order to expand services Manage and maintain an Asset Register for BeyondAutism On request, provide data for SMT, governors, trustees and Heads of Services Liaise with services’ administrative staff to ensure required data is captured and scheduling of site works are smooth Manage the schools’ personnel check -n (inventory) and access control systems Management of the cleaning and consumable supply contracts Health and safety management Ensure that the site team and the Senior Management Team are supported in ensuring our sites comply with Health and Safety legislation Support the Director of Finance with the organisation and completion of Health and Safety Audits Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety, relating to fire, water, and asbestos Chair organisational Health and Safety and maintenance meetings and attend site specific meetings Reporting and recording Ensure that all site documentation is held in a central file. Including checking and holding site-based certification, arranging annual reviews, arranging testing and monitoring at each site in particular related to Health and Safety legislation to include, though not limited to, electrical testing, gas testing, legionella testing, fire assessment Ensure that accurate registers are kept of asbestos, and hazardous substances across all sites Ensure minutes are taken at any operational meeting in particular, estates and Health and Safety meetings Provide monthly reports to SMT Attend monthly Services SMT, providing reports as required by the COO Management responsibilities To manage and provide strategic leadership to the Site and Cleaning teams To provide monthly supervision and ensure structures are in place for effective appraisal, personal development and performance management of the Site and Cleaning Teams To take all possible precautions to safeguard the welfare and safety of staff, pupils, students, visitors and the public, by implementing all policies related to safeguarding, health, safety and risk To manage the Maintenance and facilities budget in conjunction with SMT and the annual service development plans Adhere to the Premises Policy, working with SMT to ensure that new premises acquisition is managed appropriately, and disposal is managed in a timely and effective manner General Adhere to BeyondAutism’s Safeguarding Policies Work within the organisational Diversity Policy to promote equality of opportunity for all students and staff, both current and prospective Maintain high professional standards of attendance, punctuality, appearance, conduct and positive, courteous relations with students, parents and colleagues Adhere to policies as set out in the staff handbook Comply with the Data Protection Act/GDPR Undertake other reasonable duties related to the job purpose required from time to time Navigate our Carbon Neutral ambitions by formulating and driving the charity sustainability targets This is not an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities, and the post holder may be required to undertake other duties which fall within the grade of the job, as reasonably directed by the COO.
