Role Summary

An exciting opportunity has become available for a talented and enthusiastic Trusts and Statutory Fundraiser to join a high performing and friendly fundraising team.

As a key member of the Trusts and Grants Team, the Trusts and Statutory Fundraiser will work closely with the Head of Trusts and Grants to raise funds from a portfolio of charitable trusts in accordance with Child Bereavement UK’s budgets and targets.

We are looking for someone with proven experience of generating income from trusts and foundations.

You will have:

• Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to write researched, powerful and compelling copy
• Excellent research skills to identify prospective funders
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Experience working with commissions is desirable but not essential

This role comes at a particularly important time for CBUK when the charity is looking to evolve and grow services, diversify into new areas, and raise significant funds for ongoing work. The Trusts & Grants Team are a vital part of the charity’s expansion into new areas, and the post-holder will have the opportunity to work with frontline staff to develop new projects and bids.

Context and purpose of the role

You will join a small, high-performing team responsible for generating £5 million per year from individual giving, legacies, grants and corporate partners, all to deliver the Ramblers ambition for a future where everyone can enjoy the benefits of walking in nature.

Working closely with the Product & Innovation Manager, you will play a key role in delivering the fundraising strategy, leading on the delivery of our individual giving and legacy marketing campaigns across a range of channels. You will create high-quality, compelling campaign materials and ensure an excellent donor experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Income generation

• Play a key role in the implementation and delivery of the individual giving and legacy marketing strategy
• Support the growth of individual giving income in line with annual targets
• Develop and deliver regular cash and legacy marketing appeals to a high level, including:
  • Developing propositions and cases for support
  • Create compelling direct marketing materials, including writing persuasive copy and developing strong creative content
  • Project management to ensure delivery on schedule and within budget
  • Managing relationships with agencies and suppliers including design and print
• Manage a portfolio of affiliate fundraising campaigns

Donor stewardship

• Ensure the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system is used effectively to facilitate accurate supporter stewardship and reporting
• Effectively manage communications with supporters, including ensuring that donations are thanked appropriately, managing fundraising inboxes, and responding to queries
• Working with the Production & Innovation Manager, identify a pipeline of potential mid- and high-value donors for stewardship and conversion

Data and reporting

• Produce campaign and programme level reporting and analysis
• Work closely with the data team to ensure selections are accurate, timely and relevant to our various audiences, and use income data to make recommendations for future campaigns
• Maintain accurate, up to date and compliant records of individual giving campaigns and appeals
• Provide regular financial reports and reforecasts to the Product & Innovation Manager and Head of Fundraising

Relationships

• Build strong working relationships with staff within various functions of the Ramblers
• Work with other members of the Fundraising, Communications and Supporter Care teams to ensure that all supporter communications are part of an integrated supporter journey

The Person

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

• Experience working within a target-driven fundraising or direct marketing team, ideally within an individual giving context
• Experience of managing fundraising or marketing projects across a range of channels, such as direct mail, social media and email
• Experience of data-driven marketing campaigns, including segmentation and campaign analysis to meet objectives
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor communications to a wide range of audiences
• Excellent creative skills, including the ability to write compelling, accurate and persuasive copy across a range of channels
• Competent in the use of IT tools including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Experience of working with CRM systems

Desirable:

• Experience of working with the Salesforce CRM
• Experience of legacy marketing, or an understanding of charity legacy giving

About the Role

In this new role, you will contribute to enhancing the finance function within a growing and dynamic international charitable foundation. The role will enable you to work and continue your professional development across many aspects of the finance function.

Roles and Responsibilities

Accounting (40%)

• Oversee day-to-day transactions, including accounts payable and receivable, for both the UK charity and the newly created US charity
• Ensure that accurate and comprehensive records of accounting evidence for all transactions are maintained
• Monitor cashflow
• Support the HoFO in the month-end process
• Oversee and control monthly payroll with external payroll provider
• Oversee and control VAT returns with external accountants
• Check monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations
• Develop the purchase order system

Financial Planning & Analysis (35%)

• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards, including charity-specific requirements

Operations (15%)

• Responsible for the financial management of grant payments, in coordination with Grant Managers and Grant Budget Holders
• Drive good practice in procurement and manage the relationship with suppliers
• Support the wider Ops team in ad hoc projects and activities

Skills and experience

Essential

• Newly qualified or part qualified, working towards a chartered accountant qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
• Able to be hands-on in a small finance team

• Fluent in using spreadsheets for financial information
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly explain complex financial data and concepts to non-finance staff and stakeholders to support decision-making

About this key role
The main focus for our successful candidate will be to oversee the effective development and delivery of all aspects of the service, including coordinating rescues, developing and maintaining processes around rescue and other referrals, monitoring, rota systems, producing reports and providing daily support to the team.  As well as providing effective line management of the team, we will rely on you to provide advice, guidance and support to staff on safeguarding matters as well as ensuring robust risk assessments and strengths-based needs assessments are completed with safeguarding as the priority.

Developing and maintaining relationships with VESS partners and other internal and external stakeholders and further expanding the service through continued promotion of the service to partners and external services is a key element of this role, as is supporting the team to effectively manage caseloads and completing comprehensive risk and needs assessments for young people accessing the service.

What we are looking for

• Extensive experience of addressing safeguarding issues and managing risk with children, young people and adults who are experiencing of violence or exploitation and supporting teams to do the same
• Substantial experience in working in a leadership role as part of a multi-agency team to deliver a service and achieve positive outcomes for young people
•  A thorough understanding of the physical, social, emotional and developmental needs of children and young people
• Sound knowledge of the issues faced by young people such as exploitation, victimisation, offending, school exclusion, unemployment, trauma
• Relevant qualification in youth work, social work, social sciences, education or another relevant field or demonstrable equivalent experience
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal

The Role
As part of our ongoing strategy for growth and national impact, SCAA is seeking a motivated, strategic and creative individual to take ownership of our marketing and communications function — helping raise the profile of the service, strengthen brand visibility, and support our ambitious income goals. The Marketing and Communications Manager will be responsible for the strategic oversight and development of SCAA’s brand, marketing and communications function. They will lead and manage a small in-house team as well as external consultants and contractors, as required  — ensuring that all content, campaigns and communications align with our brand, engage our audiences effectively, and support organisational goals across fundraising, awareness and supporter engagement. With a strong focus on brand management, digital growth, and content oversight, this role will ensure that SCAA’s voice is consistent, compelling and clearly connected to our ambition that no one in Scotland should die because help cannot get there in time.

This role will be based either in Perth, at Scone Airport, or at our Aberdeen base at Aberdeen Airport, where our emergency response helicopters and operational crew are located.  The usual hours and days of work will be Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, however this role may involve occasional evening or weekend work, as well as the occasional requirement to provide media on-call cover. • Previous experience in a marketing and communications management role.

We are looking for a new Office Manager to organise and coordinate administration duties and office procedures in the charity. We work within a coordinated partnership response to violence against women and girls as part of the Angelou Partnership. Within the partnership ADVANCE provides independent domestic abuse advocacy and support for women, children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse.

The IDVA will work within a dynamic, fast paced, crisis intervention, advocacy, and support service to ensure the voice of survivors informs every stage of the process specialising in working with clients at high risk. They will work within the team to make proactive contact and provide high quality advocacy and support based upon a client led needs and risk assessment to women from aged 13, focusing on working with those aged 18 and over who access the domestic abuse service. They will advise women on criminal justice and civil remedies and related matters, support women to attend court where necessary, and coordinate the provision of multi-agency support. Part of the role will to be to establish positive, proactive, and innovative working relationships with services providing services to clients and partner agencies within the Angelou Partnership. As a Core IDVA will work across the boroughs mentioned above, under the guidance of the team leaders and project manager.

To be successful as the Core IDVA you will need the below experience and skills:

To be successful as a Core IDVA, you’ll need to have an excellent understanding of domestic abuse and its effects on women and children and of best practice within the domestic abuse sector. As an experienced domestic abuse advocate who has worked with complex and multiple needs, you will be skilled in risk management and safety planning, remaining calm in a crisis and in handling sensitive information on a daily basis. Experience of direct work with female survivors of domestic abuse, of supporting women involved in mental health services, and of working within safeguarding procedures is essential for this post, as is the need to adopt and promote a strong partnership approach to service provision.
