Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service is looking for an inspirational and experienced Director of Care to provide strategic, clinical and operational leadership across our medical, clinical and holistic care services.

This is a pivotal role within our organisation. Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Board of Trustees and Senior Leadership Team, you will be responsible for ensuring that children, young people and their families receive the highest quality, safe and compassionate care.

The role

As Director of Care, you will have overall responsibility for the leadership, management, quality and performance of our care services.

You will:

• Provide strong, visible and inspirational clinical leadership across all care services.
• Lead the strategic development of our medical, clinical and holistic care provision.
• Ensure services are safe, effective, evidence-based, family-centred and responsive to the needs of the children and families we support.
• Act as Joint Registered Manager with the Care Quality Commission.

• Ensure we are prepared for CQC and other regulatory requirements and that learning from incidents, complaints, audits and research drives continuous improvement.
• Lead and support a highly skilled multidisciplinary Care Team, encouraging a culture of reflection, development, innovation and excellence.
• Work with the CEO and wider Senior Leadership Team to deliver the charity's strategic plan and manage resources effectively.
• Develop strong relationships with Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) and support the development and management of commissioned services.
• Represent Alexander Devine locally and nationally, contributing to the wider development of children's palliative care.
• Champion the voice of children, young people and their families, ensuring their experience informs the ongoing development of our services.

About you

We are looking for an exceptional clinical leader who combines strategic vision with strong operational management and a genuine passion for children's palliative care.

You will be a registered nurse with significant experience in paediatric palliative care and senior-level leadership experience. You will have a strong understanding of clinical governance, CQC requirements, PSIRF and safeguarding, together with experience of leading service development and change.

You will bring:

• NMC registration as a Children's or Adult Nurse.
• Significant experience of palliative paediatric nursing.
• Senior-level experience of management, strategic thinking and service development.
• Experience of CQC compliance, clinical governance, PSIRF and safeguarding.
• Strong financial and budgetary understanding.
• Excellent communication skills and the confidence to communicate complex and sensitive information to a wide range of audiences.

The role 

Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will lead a substantial portfolio of complex commissioned services and senior operational managers. 

You will lead nine services with nine direct reports, spanning criminal justice and housing/homelessness provision. You will have clear accountability for ensuring services are safe, effective and well-led, with strong contractual performance, financial sustainability and positive outcomes for the people and communities we support. 

You will provide operational grip and evidence-based assurance, strengthen safeguarding and management accountability, build effective relationships with commissioners and partners, and ensure risks and underperformance are identified, escalated and addressed early. 

You will also work collectively with fellow senior operational leaders to embed a One Cranstoun approach, strengthening common standards, sharing learning, developing leadership capability and improving quality and resilience across our services. 

What you will be accountable for 

As an Assistant Director, you will take senior operational accountability for: 

• Safe, effective and well-led services – ensuring strong safeguarding, quality, operational risk management and service user outcomes.  
• Contractual performance – ensuring services deliver against contractual requirements and KPIs, with strong commissioner relationships and timely action to address underperformance.  
• Financial sustainability – maintaining strong financial oversight, effective workforce management and oversight of the sustainability of individual contracts.  
• Evidence-based assurance – using reliable performance, quality, workforce and financial information to identify risks and drive improvement.  
• Collective organisational leadership – working beyond individual portfolio boundaries to build consistent standards, stronger leadership and shared ways of working across Cranstoun.  

You will lead and develop senior operational managers, set clear expectations and create a culture in which support and accountability operate together. 

You will also lead and contribute to service mobilisation, transformation, workforce planning and continuous improvement. 

Who we are looking for 

We are looking for established senior operational leaders with substantial experience leading complex commissioned services and geographically dispersed teams. 

You will bring a strong track record of: 

• leading safe, high-quality services for people with complex needs;  
• safeguarding, quality and operational risk management;  
• contract and performance management;  
• managing significant service budgets and improving financial performance;  
• building effective relationships with commissioners, regulators and strategic partners;  
• leading service improvement, mobilisation and organisational change;  
• developing senior operational managers and addressing underperformance; and  
• using performance, quality, workforce and financial information to provide assurance and drive improvement.  

You will need to combine strategic leadership with operational pragmatism, understanding the detail when necessary while maintaining oversight of performance, risk, quality and sustainability across a complex portfolio. 

Above all, we are looking for collaborative, credible and values-led leaders who can support and challenge in equal measure, build leadership capability and bring people together around common standards and organisational priorities. 

Specialist experience 

For this role, you will need significant leadership experience across both Criminal Justice and Housing/Homelessness services, including housing or accommodation-based provision. 

You will understand the complexity of working across criminal justice, housing, local government and other statutory systems and be experienced in building effective relationships with commissioners and partners while maintaining strong operational and contractual oversight. 

This is a 12-month fixed-term appointment at an important stage in Cranstoun’s transformation, offering the opportunity to lead a significant portfolio, strengthen operational performance and help shape the future development of our operating model.

Gray’s Inn Road is a 16 bed short stay service in Camden, giving people the stability, support and breathing space they need to begin rebuilding their lives and move towards a home they can sustain.

As Service Manager, you’ll lead the team that makes that possible. You’ll create a service where people are treated with dignity, listened to and supported as individuals, while giving your team the leadership, challenge and encouragement they need to do their best work. Overall purpose

As the Finance and Operations Officer, you will play a key role in making sure the charity’s expenditure is well managed, accurately recorded, properly authorised and fully auditable. The post holder will have day-to-day ownership of purchase ledger processing, supplier payments, staff and client expenses, payment runs and expenditure controls. They will ensure that all expenditure is coded correctly, supported by appropriate documentation, treated correctly for VAT and recorded in line with internal policies, accounting requirements and funder restrictions.

The postholder will work closely with the Head of Finance and colleagues across the organisation to make expenditure processes clear, efficient and well controlled. This includes supporting staff to understand purchasing, expenses, authorisation and supplier processes, and helping teams to manage spending in line with budgets, funding restrictions and organisational procedures. The role also includes practical operational support, helping to make sure colleagues have the equipment, technology set-up, office resources, basic systems access and clear guidance they need to do their jobs effectively and safely. This will include creating and maintaining guidance that helps the organisation run smoothly, such as office guidance, health and safety information and equipment policies.

You will also be expected to contribute to and uphold our outstanding culture by living and demonstrating our values of being mission-led, welcoming, entrepreneurial and collaborative.

Key responsibilities 

Finance responsibilities — expenditure focus (65%)

· Process purchase invoices, staff expenses and client payments accurately and promptly, ensuring all expenditure has the correct approval, coding, VAT treatment and supporting documentation.

· Maintain day-to-day ownership of the purchase ledger, ensuring supplier accounts are accurate, up to date and reconciled where needed.

· Ensure staff and client expenses are captured and recorded accurately, comply with the relevant expense policy and are paid in a timely manner.

· Prepare supplier, staff and client payment runs ready for approval and payment by the finance team.

· Verify supplier details and changes to bank details in line with finance controls, escalating any concerns or unusual activity.

· Support checks on expenditure completeness, including identifying missing invoices, outstanding approvals, unprocessed expenses and unmatched payments.

· Support month-end expenditure processes, including reviewing expenditure coding, posting accruals and prepayments, and helping to ensure the monthly income and expenditure position is accurate by agreed deadlines.

· Allocate shared costs across cost centres and projects, ensuring expenditure is coded accurately and consistently

· Reconcile expenditure-related control accounts and third-party platforms where relevant, ensuring differences are investigated and resolved promptly.

· Ensure fundraising platform fees are recorded properly alongside income from those platforms.

· Work with budget holders to resolve expenditure queries and improve the quality of coding, descriptions and supporting information.

· Work with the Head of Finance to help colleagues understand purchasing, expenses, authorisation, supplier set-up and other expenditure processes.

· Undertake expenditure control activities, including checking supplier set-up, verifying supplier detail changes, reviewing payment evidence and supporting compliance with delegated authorities.

· Provide support for income processing where needed, particularly where this links to restricted fund expenditure, funder evidence or month-end processes.

· Support year-end audit by preparing expenditure evidence, responding to sample requests and ensuring finance records are complete and easy to trace.

· Support ad hoc finance projects, including improvements to expenditure processes, system changes and policy or procedure updates.

· Maintain and regularly update the organisation’s asset register, mobile phone inventory and user allocation records.

· Identify and implement improvements to finance and operational processes to strengthen controls, improve efficiency and enhance user experience.

· Work collaboratively with operational teams to review outstanding financial items, resolve queries and improve compliance with finance procedures.

Operational responsibilities (35%)

· Act as the secondary administrator for Vodafone services, maintaining user records, managing SIM allocations, coordinating account changes, resolving supplier queries, and reviewing monthly charges.

· Coordinate the procurement, allocation and recovery of company equipment, including laptops, headphones, mobile phones, monitors and other IT assets, ensuring records and costs are accurate.

· Monitor contracts, usage and costs linked to operational platforms, telecommunications and office services, highlighting issues or opportunities for savings.

· Support onboarding and offboarding by ensuring equipment, access requirements and related records are in place, returned or updated promptly.

· Ensure operational records, policies and procedures linked to expenditure, assets and procurement remain accurate and up to date.

· Create and maintain practical guidance, policies and procedures that help the organisation run smoothly, including office guidance, health and safety information and equipment policies.

Lauderdale House is looking for an experienced fundraiser who is ready for a role with more responsibility and the opportunity to help shape how fundraising develops across the organisation.

This is our first dedicated fundraising role, but you won't be starting from scratch. We have successful previous trust fundraising, established education and community programmes, previous individual donors and a large community of people with a long-standing connection to Lauderdale House.

Working closely with the Director, you'll help develop fundraising into a consistent and sustainable income stream, with a particular focus on Trusts & Foundations andIndividual & Legacy Giving.

You'll develop and manage a pipeline of trust and foundation applications, write compelling applications and reports, build relationships with funders and develop approaches to encourage longer-term support.

You'll also help establish our individual and legacy giving programme, researching and cultivating prospective donors, making fundraising approaches, developing donor stewardship and putting appropriate systems in place for donor data and Gift Aid.

Alongside this, you'll contribute to fundraising strategy, impact and evaluation, cases for support, fundraising communications, reporting and compliance.

About you

We're looking for someone with solid practical fundraising experience and a track record of securing income who is ready to take the next step in their career and possesses all or most of the following:

• a successful track record in fundraising relevant to this role, preferably in arts, heritage and/or community organisations;
• experience managing your own fundraising workload or portfolio with a good degree of independence;
• the confidence to use your judgement, make recommendations and move work forward without extensive day-to-day supervision;
• experience taking responsibility for fundraising targets or income goals;
• a strong understanding of fundraising trends, especially within the arts, heritage and community sectors;
• an understanding of the role of fundraising in organisational growth;
• knowledge of fundraising regulations, data protection, ethical standards and best practice;

You don't need to have previously been a Head of Fundraising or run an entire fundraising function. You might currently be a Fundraising Officer, Senior Fundraising Officer, Development Officer or similar and be ready for a role with more responsibility and scope to use your own judgement.

Above all, we're looking for someone who combines fundraising knowledge and real experience with initiative. You won't be expected to arrive knowing everything about Lauderdale House, but you should have enough fundraising experience to recognise opportunities, recommend a course of action and confidently take responsibility for delivering it.

Lauderdale House is a Grade II* historic house in Waterlow Park, Highgate, brought to life as a busy arts, heritage, education and community centre. Around 80,000 people visit us each year, and in 2028 we will celebrate 50 years as an arts and education centre.

About the Role

This is a role where you’ll really see the difference you make.

As Educational Partnerships Manager, you’ll work across Hull, East Riding, North Lincolnshire, and North East Lincolnshire, building partnerships with schools, colleges, youth organisations and community groups-particularly in areas where opportunities are hardest to come by.

You’ll be right in the mix: planning events, delivering programmes, supporting volunteers and connecting with school staff to make sure young people have access to our inspiring enterprise and financial education experiences.

You’ll be a key driver of our Inspiring Futures programme-helping young people break down barriers and imagine bigger futures.

It’s a varied, people-focused role with loads of room for creativity, independence and collaboration. Whether you’re visiting a school, chatting with a funder, or supporting a trade fair, you’ll be helping young people build skills that will last a lifetime.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and grow relationships with schools, colleges, youth clubs and local communities.
• Focus on expanding our reach in areas of multiple deprivation and underrepresentation.
• Deliver and support the rollout of YE programmes in schools and other settings.
• Recruit, train and support volunteers-making sure they feel valued and inspired.
• Work with your regional team to meet shared goals and celebrate local impact.
• Help secure local funding by supporting fundraising efforts and managing project deliverables.
• Support the planning of events, trade fairs and celebrations for young people.
• Keep accurate records, track impact, and make sure safeguarding is front and centre.

A few practical things:

• This is a hands-on role-you’ll sometimes be lifting resources, setting up venues and travelling regularly (a car and full driving licence are essential).
• You’ll need to be happy occasionally working evenings or weekends during peak delivery times.
• Expect to be on your feet during some events or sessions-it’s all part of the fun!

Community Volunteers Enabling You (COVEY) has been a lifeline for children, young people and families across Lanarkshire since 1992. We provide one-to-one and group-based befriending, mentoring and family support services tailored to those who need it most. Our mission is to help children, young people and families become more resilient, safe and better equipped to reach their full potential.

As Fundraising Manager, you will lead the development of community fundraising, corporate fundraising and fundraising events (either held by us or undertaken by members of the public such as the Kiltwalk), helping COVEY grow sustainable unrestricted income and build long-term relationships with supporters.

This is a brand new role with real scope to build on COVEY’s trusted place in the local community, developing new fundraising opportunities and partnerships, as well as building on our existing relationships with volunteers, staff, trustees, supporters, funders, schools, employers, community partners and local networks.

You will also help shape fundraising activity linked to COVEY’s 35th anniversary in 2027, using this milestone to celebrate the children, young people and families we have supported over this time (and the volunteers and staff that made it happen), in turn raising our profile and build long-term supporter relationships beyond the anniversary year.

This role would suit someone who is confident, proactive and relationship-focused, with the ability to engage people, spot opportunities, make compelling asks, build partnerships and turn interest into meaningful support for COVEY.

What we’re looking for:

• A successful track record of generating income, developing partnerships, identifying new leads and converting opportunities into active support
• Previous experience of fundraising, which could include community fundraising, corporate fundraising, supporter stewardship, sponsorship, challenge events, employee fundraising, Charity of the Year partnerships, etc
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, including confidence in networking, presenting and making fundraising asks
• Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage fundraising activity, events, budgets, supporter communications and CRM records
• A collaborative, supporter-focused approach and a strong commitment to COVEY’s mission, values and outcomes
