1.People Management

• Manage work allocation and workflow, future planning and support for Finance Team and Director of Central Services

6. Group and Branch Funding

• Oversee PCS work with Special Member Auditors to ensure the completion of union group and branch audit procedures in line with rules and Finance Committee requirements
• Provide assistance to group and branch treasurers, including training courses
• Provide reports as required for the Finance Committee
• Ensure expenses are paid in line with Service Level Agreement requirements

7. Finance Training and good practice

• Participate in the dissemination of financial knowledge across the union. Organise and participate in periodic financial training programmes for budget-holders, treasurers and members

8. Communication

• Draft complex communications including briefs, reports, business cases, for internal and external stakeholders
• Draft papers, policies and regulations in relation to financial management
• Communicate with members by producing circulars and briefings, and by addressing meetings and conferences etc
• Represent PCS where necessary and liaise with outside professional bodies such as auditors
• Provide financial information as required by other areas of the Union, in particular treasurers, or other bodies

We are seeking an ambitious, driven and visionary Head of Fundraising to lead our expanding team at a pivotal moment in our journey. With the backing of an engaged Board of Trustees and a passionate, committed team, you will provide strategic leadership across all income streams. You will guide and inspire our small but high-performing fundraising team to grow and diversify income — strengthening individual giving through innovative donor acquisition and impactful campaigns, while also supporting the development of our corporate partnerships, community fundraising and events programmes. Line Manager: Provisionally the Chairman of the board of trustees

Accountable to: Provisionally the Pepper Foundation board of trustees

Primary objectives: The Head of Fundraising manages a small, expanding team to deliver sustainable fundraising income. Hours: 30 – 37.5 hours per week with some flexibility on when hours are worked.

Salary: £46000-£50000 FTE Pro Rata (depending on experience).

Pension: We make a 5% contribution to your pension with a minimum of 3% from the employee based on salary paid. Specialisms: The Head of Fundraising will specialise in increasing income through donor development and legacy fundraising whilst having a good, general understanding of community, corporate, events and challenge fundraising.

Office location: Your primary place of work will be at home, but significant time will be spent out and about meeting supporters and colleagues. Pepper has access to meeting facilities and a small operational base in Berkhamsted.

Area of operation: Fundraising will take place in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. There will be occasional visits and meetings outside this area.

Professional development: The Head of Fundraising will be encouraged to undertake training and professional development activities in line with their duties and career aspirations.

Key requirements:

• Work with trustees and colleagues to develop organisational and fundraising strategies, business plans and budgets.

• Work closely with the charity’s communications, marketing and PR agency to manage the charity’s online presence including website and social media platforms and extend the charity’s audience reach to generate support for fundraising campaigns and events.

• Work with the fundraising team to deliver events and initiatives and build relationships to raise funds for the charity

• Build fundraising campaigns to gain support through direct marketing

• Deliver agreed fundraising strategies, business plans and budgets

• Drive, monitor and report on the progress of the fundraising strategy and budget

ROLE OVERVIEW

You will have a dynamic approach with the ability to combine business development, relationship management, stakeholder engagement and operational oversight to ensure that RLSS UK’s membership thrives and aligns with our purpose, mission and vision.

RLSS UK members include Lifesavers, Lifeguards, Licence to Operate Members, Lifesaving Academy members, Honorary Members and Staff.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Regular communications and support to branches and lifesaving clubs
• Engage with our members to understand their needs and future opportunities to support their roles in their communities and beyond
• Conduct research and horizon scan for new opportunities for our members
• Conduct research to identify and understand potential new members and opportunities to support growth and meet need
• Conduct research to identify and connect with relevant external stakeholders
• Drive new membership onboarding, ensuring a seamless and effective experience
• Ensure clubs achieve and maintain the appropriate accreditation in line with RLSS UK requirements, policies and processes
• Develop an annual plan of community engagement and roadshows with members and non-members to raise awareness of the work of RLSS UK and our members, to recruit new members and share water safety and drowning prevention education and campaigns
• Ensure clear and concise processes are in place to support membership experience, retention and growth
• Work collaboratively with all RLSS UK teams to raise awareness of our awards and qualifications offer. Collaborate to adapt offerings based on member feedback and emerging industry trends

• At least 10+ years’ experience in a Membership role

About you 

We’re looking for a Client Services Manager to lead our reception teams across two PDSA sites:

• Edmonton Green (N9 9AA) – 3 days per week
• Hendon (NW4 4JU) – 2 days per week 

This role involves regular travel between both locations, so flexibility and confidence working across multiple sites is essential.

You’ll manage a team of 10 receptionists who provide cover 7 days a week, ensuring high standards of customer service are delivered consistently, both in person and remotely.
