About the Service

Are you passionate about supporting women to achieve economic independence and rebuild their lives following experiences of abuse and trauma?

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Employment & Economic Independence Advisor to join our team. This is an exciting new opportunity to play a key role in empowering women to access employment, education, training, volunteering, and career development opportunities that support their long-term safety, wellbeing, and independence.

Working within a Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) field, you will provide tailored, strengths-based support that recognises the impact of trauma while helping women identify and achieve their employment aspirations.

About the Role

This is a new project, and the Employment & Economic Independence Advisor will work using a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and person-centred approach to support lone mothers overcome barriers and progress towards meaningful and sustainable employment.

Drawing on the principles of Individual Placement and Support (IPS), you will adapt evidence-based employment support models to meet the unique needs of women who have experienced abuse, coercion, trauma, and disadvantage.

You will work closely with women to understand their goals, identify opportunities, develop confidence, and navigate practical and emotional barriers to employment, education, training, and volunteering.

The role will also involve building strong relationships with employers, education providers, training organisations, and community partners to create pathways into opportunities that meet women's aspirations and circumstances.

About You

We are looking for someone with experience supporting women into employment, education, training, or volunteering, together with a strong understanding of employment support, careers guidance, welfare-to-work, vocational training, or related services. You will be able to build trusting relationships, motivate individuals to achieve their goals and manage a varied caseload with confidence and organisation.

You will understand how trauma, domestic abuse, gender-based violence and multiple disadvantage can affect women’s lives, and will be committed to trauma-informed, strengths-based practice. With excellent communication, advocacy, and partnership-building skills, you will develop networks and pathways that encourage flexible, family friendly and inclusive employment, while sharing our commitment to empowering women and advancing equality, inclusion, and social justice.

Additional Information

This is a hybrid role, with a minimum of three days per week working between our Lambeth Village co-location, occasional community outreach, as well as spending time at our space at Lambeth Refuge. The remaining days may be worked remotely.

The salary for this post is £24,537 (based on a FTE salary of £30,671) per annum.

This is a fixed term contract ending December 2027.

This is a part time post at 30 hours per week.
