Turning Tides provides a range of homelessness services to around 1000 people a year in West Sussex and has a turnover of £8m. This includes community hubs, outreach services and supported housing.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Finance Director to join our senior management team and shape the charity’s strategic future and ensure it is financially secure and well managed. This comes at an exciting time as we are in the process of registering as a Housing Association.

• Reporting to the Chief Executive, and additional responsibilities to the Finance and Audit Committee, and Board of Trustees.
• Overall responsibility and accountability for Turning Tides’ finances, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and risk management that is compliant with all relevant accounting standards.
• Key SMT member, working collaboratively to ensure accurate forecasting and value for money is achieved, and provide review and challenge on expenditure, efficiency and effectiveness.
• Leadership of a well established finance team to include management of payroll, procurement, and companywide insurances.
• Ensuring that Turning Tides is compliant with financial aspects of the Regulatory Code for Social Housing providers and Housing SORP
• Continual process improvement and change management to create a cost-effective finance function to support the Charity.
• Oversee IT and risk management

About You

• Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or CIPFA)
• Have a breadth of finance experience, including good working knowledge of creating strategic financial strategy and business plans
• Have a proven track record of effective leadership, including experience of managing small finance teams with turnover of around £8m
• Have experience of influencing and building strong relationships with senior stakeholders to include working with Board and Finance and Audit Committee
• Possess excellent IT skills and utilisation of Microsoft 365 applications, including Advanced Excel
• Strong analytical skills with proven experience of using data to support decisions, identify trends and challenge

The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, but ambitious grassroots charity run by and for women seeking asylum. WAST has a proud track record of providing a safe space for women to come together in solidarity and campaign for justice in an increasingly hostile environment.

We are looking for a Project Coordinator to play a key role in developing and delivering WAST’s women-led programmes. You will work closely with the staff team, management group (elected by members to define WAST’s priorities and organise activities), and our wider membership to ensure that projects reflect the needs and aspirations of the women who use WAST. About WAST

Women Asylum Seekers Together (WAST) is a grassroots Manchester-based charity led by and for women who are seeking asylum and currently has around 170 members. WAST was founded in 2005 by one of WAST’s current board members, whilst fighting her own anti-deportation campaign, and became a constituted charity in 2014.

We provide a safe, supportive space where women can come together to build community, gain confidence, access peer support, and advocate for their rights. Women are at the sharp end of the ‘hostile environment’ with punitive government immigration policies and practice. WAST enables a process of empowerment through which women gain the confidence and strength to voice their experience and campaign for justice.

WAST is a place of hope and belonging with its core values of compassion, respect, inclusion and empowerment and its continuous development of its trauma informed peer support approach. WAST is proud of its pioneering work giving a voice to women seeking asylum and inspiring other women around the country to set up similar groups. WAST has been at the forefront of national campaigning against detention, has published three books and created two plays, giving voice to women’s experiences.

WAST runs weekly skill-building and wellbeing activities, a weekly drop-in session where women can access signposting and referrals to services, and a variety of external events throughout the year. Activities are identified and led by the WAST Management Group, elected by the membership and supported by WAST staff. WAST’s current priorities, as identified by the management group, include developing asylum information workshops, a range of wellbeing trauma informed activities, and advancing the campaign group.

Job Title: Recovery Worker

Location: Churchfield West Ealing -  Unfortunately there is no step free access available on this site.

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week on a rolling rota between Monday to Sunday from 08:00 - 20:30 including a mix of longer shifts 3 - 4 days a week. You may be required to work outside these hours as per service requirements such as bank holidays and evenings. 

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Recovery Worker to join our team based in West Ealing. We support adults experiencing homelessness, isolation, mental health challenges and addiction. We provide support and appropriate interventions that will enable successful resettlements, and deliver to achieve safer, integrated communities for our stakeholders. The service has two 24/7 multi-bed premises which provide supported housing for individuals facing addiction and homelessness. 

In this role, you will work closely with our residents to provide tailored person-centred support to enable our residents to feel empowered to overcome personal challenges, and achieve their desired goals. You will support them with re-integrating into the community through tailored support plans, interventions, and working closely with our stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities include: 

• Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of residents and participants at all times

About the role
We are recruiting for a Campaigns and Mobilisation Officer to join on a full-time, permanent contract, working 35 hours per week.

Campaigning is at the heart of our mission to end the devastation caused by dementia, and this position is key to Alzheimer’s Society’s ambition to drive meaningful policy change across England, Northern Ireland, and Wales.

As Campaign and Mobilisation Officer you will be focussed on delivering impact focussed campaigns; including the mobilisation of audiences, to change policy at both a local and national level across England, Northern Ireland and Wales; making the case for dementia to be the priority it needs to be and ensuring policy objectives are implemented to improve the lives of people living with dementia.

You will help deliver our campaigning strategy, by deploying a range of online and offline tactics and ensuring that all campaigning action is mobilised to affect change in dementia at all levels. You will support and deliver campaigns that are collaborative and impact focused, working closely with other teams across the organisation, including, but not limited to, colleagues in External Relations, Marketing and Brand and Fundraising.

This role is home based, with some travel expected for team and directorate away days.

Interviews for this role have been provisionally scheduled to take place via MS Teams on Friday 21st and Monday 24th November.

About you
Joining us, you’ll be able to combine skills across communications and influencing disciplines, along with technical ability related to the management of campaigning platforms and data handling. Your good attention to detail will enable you to ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies.

Crucially, you’ll have experience building relationships and working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders. You’ll know how and when to communicate with campaigners, how to turn campaign actions into meaningful change and you’ll be able to build and run effective campaign actions (both online and offline).

- The day-to-day implementation of our campaigning plans.
- Drafting effective copy, for a wide variety of offline & online sources, designed to engage supporters and influence policy.

- Building campaign pages, and emails (or other communications) automations and running reports on Engaging Networks (or similar technology).
- Working closely with data teams and managing campaigner data held on campaign systems, ensuring it is maintained in line with both legal requirements and internal policies.
- Working with the Campaigns and Mobilisation Manager, to develop and oversee the execution of a high quality, innovative and impactful campaigns, in line with our policy and influencing objectives and agreed organisational priorities.
- Ensuring that the voices of people with lived experience informs our work and support the inclusion of people with lived experience in our work where appropriate.

We are looking for someone with:  

• A Community Development qualification and/or transferable Community Development skills and experience.

• A basic understanding of the Asset-Based Community Development approach (ABCD) is required however full support and development of this practice and our internal ways of working will be provided.    

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships that drive action.  

• A track record of successful collaboration with internal and external partners and stakeholders.  

• Effective and efficient organisational and IT skills. 

PLEASE NOTE:  

• The successful candidate will need to be based within a 30-minute commute of their allocated locality and there is a requirement to travel regularly across the wider area (travel expenses covered).  The successful candidate must possess a valid full UK driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle with business insurance for work purposes.  

• There will also be a requirement for occasional travel to other UK locations for meetings and events depending on the charity’s needs such as our annual all colleagues in person event.   

• The successful candidate will work 35 hours per week over 5 days, Monday - Sunday. Core working days will be Monday to Friday; however, flexibility is essential, as regular evening and weekend work will also be required to meet the needs of the role.
