Age UK East London are recruiting a Community Engagement Officer to join our growing Community Outreach team. We support hundreds of people a year to maintain their health and wellbeing, combat social isolation and digital inclusion through the varied activities and by signposting to relative local support services. 

We support some of the most deprived communities in the UK, tackling poverty and health inequality while promoting independence and well-being. 

Working in well networked and integrated systems you will make a key contribution to improving the lives of adults, their carers and the wider community. 

Job description 

Job Purpose 

• To provide a high-quality outreach support service that enables older adults with low level support needs to live independently within the community. 

• To a promote network services across the Boroughs to maximise their take-up. 

• To work closely with statutory and voluntary sector agencies to ensure appropriate services are accessed. 

• To ensure that service users have maximum choice and control over the planning and management of the service they receive, including initiating individual support plans and connecting them with culturally appropriate services. 

Key Tasks 

• To signpost people to appropriate services as required through outreach sessions in the Hub, Satellite centres, GP practices and pharmacies. 

• To develop shared working practices across the service network. 

• To work closely with providers of similar services 

• To work to agreed individual, team, and organisational objectives. 

• To work with existing activity groups at the hub and satellite centres and support the setting up of activities where appropriate. 

• To ensure all contacts with service users are recorded appropriately and to maintain an adequate filing system. 

• To use word-processing software to produce own correspondence and reports in accordance with relevant policy on confidentiality and data protection. 

• To collect monitoring information to enable the service to be evaluated. 

• To provide support to services outside of normal working hours and occasionally attend sessions when required. 

Administration  

• To ensure all relevant administration is organised and efficiently completed. 

• To assist co-ordinating service user client surveys/questionnaires as appropriate, collate feedback and evaluate the service provided. 

• To assist with the collection of data necessary to provide specific information needed for KPI’s and external requirements and outcomes. 

• To ensure all data is collected through AUKEL organisational customer relationship management data base systems. 

Quality 

• To be familiar with and to implement Age UK East London’s policies and procedures. 

• Ensure that confidential data is managed within AGE UK’s policies and procedures.

 General 

• To meet regularly with line manager for support, supervision, and appraisal. 

• To attend team and staff meetings, (and other meetings) as required. 

• To undertake any other duties within the competence of the post holder as may be required from time to time for the continued smooth running of Age UK East London.

The Thalidomide Trust is seeking a collaborative, inspiring and empathetic leader to join as our next Director of Health & Wellbeing, providing leadership to a committed and expert team as we work to deliver the best possible support to thalidomide survivors as they enter older age.

The Thalidomide Trust was established as a registered charity in 1973 to support individuals living with disabilities caused by their mothers taking thalidomide during pregnancy. Today, our support encompasses financial grants and guidance, together with comprehensive health and wellbeing support (including emotional support). We also undertake research to better understand the needs of our beneficiaries and provide vital information resources for professionals working with them. Secure funding means we can focus entirely on how to improve the lives of our beneficiaries.

We assist 430 beneficiaries, most of whom the Trust has worked with since they were children. We are often the first port of call for any issues they face. As our beneficiaries are now in their 60s, we must continue to evolve to meet their changing needs. The Trust is approaching a crucial transition point - effectively becoming an older person’s charity over the next 10-20 years, as the group’s needs become ever more complex and diverse. We must ensure we are ready to provide much-needed support to our beneficiaries as they face the typical challenges of aging that impact them more as thalidomide survivors, as well as the unique impacts and accelerated aging caused by thalidomide damage.

Our current Director of Health & Wellbeing is taking on the Joint Chief Executive role with our existing Executive Director. This means we need a new Director of Health & Wellbeing to join in October this year to lead our fantastic, 12-strong team of health & wellbeing professionals though this transition period. They will ensure they have the resources and skills to support our beneficiaries into this next phase of life, maintain and build on our award-winning culture, contribute to the development of the Trust’s next Five-Year Strategic Plan, and lead the implementation of the health and wellbeing objectives and deliverables within the plan.

Voluntary Action Harrow Co-operative work with the local community providing information, training and guidance.

Based in Harrow, we are a not-for-profit co-operative owned by our workers. We have in-depth knowledge of the local area and of who’s doing what. Our members collectively have over 35 years’ experience in the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector, specialising in capacity building in a variety of different organisational development areas.

For over 40 years, Being There, a medium sized charity, has provided practical, emotional and social support to those affected by life limiting illnesses across much of Greater Manchester. Job Title: Partnership Development Manager

Salary: £34,500.

Contract Type: Contract for 18 months; there is a strong possibility that currently anticipated growth in the team may see this role become permanent during the contract term. The latest research suggesting that the number of children and young people at risk of hunger has rocketed to three million means that one in five children don't have enough to eat.   

When a child is too hungry to learn, when they’re aching for something to eat, they can’t concentrate. They can’t absorb information. Big feelings and worries can be impossible to control. They fall behind in their studies.  

Magic Breakfast provide a nutritious and filling breakfast to over 200,000 children and young people every school day. We work with schools in areas of high disadvantage, helping staff target the children most in need without barrier or stigma.   

Magic Breakfast are ambitious to grow our impact in order to remove hunger as a barrier to learning for all children and young people in the UK. To do this, we need to continue to grow our fundraised income, of which new corporate income is a significant element.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Building a pipeline that reflects Magic Breakfast’s restricted and unrestricted funding needs, including Gift in Kind requirements, working with the Partnership Research Executive to research and identify prospects with potential.  
• Making use of multiple tactics to secure meetings with prospects including, for example, cold calling, emailing, running events, event networking and social selling on platforms like LinkedIn.
• Ensuring that risk-screening and due diligence processes have been completed in line with Magic Breakfast’s Ethical Fundraising and Due Diligence policies. 
• Understanding each prospect’s strategic interests through meetings, discussions and research and defining the mutual advantage in partnership. 
• Developing and delivering engaging, relevant and impactful pitches and written proposals to prospective partners.

Prospectus are excited to be working exclusively with Action Syria to help them recruit for their first Head of Development. Action Syria (formerly Hands Up Foundation) is a small and innovative charity that funds health and education programmes in Syria and neighbouring countries. Hands Up Foundation was founded in 2012 and has raised millions for humanitarian aid in Syria and surrounding countries. To mark their commitment to helping Syrian people affected by conflict, displacement, and natural disaster, they changed their name from Hands Up Foundation to Action Syria in 2024.

This role is offered on a flexible permanent contract basis paying a salary between £40,000 to £50,000 per annum with flexible hybrid working arrangements at their Office in Shoreditch.

This newly created role will be part of the senior leadership team and lead the fundraising function at Action Syria. The post holder will work with the CEO and team to deliver their ambitious fundraising goals over the next three years with an aim to increase annual income to £1 million. They will also aim to expand and diversify their supporter base with emphasis on attracting new audiences and networks; gaining more multi-year grants from Trusts, Foundations and major donors; building regular giving; joint fundraising partnerships (e.g. commercial partnerships); and building on current relationships with peer organizations which have a particular interest in Syria.

They are looking for someone with demonstrable experience of developing fundraising strategies, networking, and delivering to large income targets. They are looking for a candidate with a demonstrable track record of securing six figure funds from multiple sources and confident of working at a senior level externally. The ideal candidate will have an Interest in the Middle East and Action Syria’s cause.

Gwent Wildlife Trust is now looking for an inspirational leader to take the Trust into the next chapter of its important work where everyone can experience and enjoy wildlife. Reporting to the Chair and Board of Trustees, the CEO will have a passion for wildlife and provide overall strategic direction and operational responsibility to a well-established and highly motivated team, all acting as a strong force for wildlife conservation across a highly distinctive and beautiful part of Wales.

Main Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Development:

• Providing strong and visible strategic leadership for the Trust as a whole, both internally and externally
• Directing, inspiring and motivating staff and volunteers
• Supporting and working with the Senior Management Team on the development and implementation of the Trust’s long-term strategy, through development and delivery of annual business plans and associated budgets and KPIs
• Providing strong financial and budgetary management oversight and focus the development of diverse and sustainable income sources
• Ensuring that management policies and decisions support the agreed vision, mission, values and strategy of the Trust
• Role modelling the values and behaviours of Gwent Wildlife Trust to continue developing a positive high-performance culture

External Relations and People Contacts:

• Be a persuasive and influential advocate, raising the profile of Gwent Wildlife Trust, The Wildlife Trusts, and the importance of nature in solving society’s challenges
• Develop and enhance relationships with key stakeholders and strategic partners
• Support the Senior Management Team to develop contacts with key stakeholders and develop strategic partnerships
• Engage with key decision-makers including SMs, MPs, Local Authorities, local councillors, corporate leaders, and community champions, to position the Trust and promote its objectives
• Support the Senior Management Team with major fundraising initiatives
• Co-operate and collaborate with the The Wildlife Trust central team, other Wildlife Trusts in Wales and across the UK

Organisational and Operational Management to include:

• Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with the Chairman, Honorary Officers and Trustees to ensure lawful and effective governance
• Lead the Trust’s Senior Management Team including holding monthly one to one meeting and annual appraisals
• Oversee financial management systems, ensuring the timely preparation and effective achievement of annual budgets
• Co-develop and deliver an annual Business Plan which aligns with the 2030 Strategy
• Oversee compliance with all statutory requirements (including Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities, Employment Law, GDPR, etc.)
• Ensure effective communication with staff, trustees and volunteers
• Work with the trustees to implement appropriate risk management systems
• Deepen the Trusts commitment to the Welsh language

The Meridian One Community Garden serves as a space where we focus on cultivating fruit, salad, and vegetable produce. We involve the local community by hosting weekly volunteer gardening sessions, welcoming school visits, and organising various community events.

TCV is seeking a Senior Project Officer with expertise in community engagement, event coordination, and managing community facilities. The garden, which was established one year ago, encompasses facilities such as an office, a community meeting/education room, toilets, and a spacious polytunnel.

The Senior Project Officer will oversee a range of tasks including planning and executing community events, maintaining site Health & Safety, leading volunteers in practical projects like building wooden planters, tending to garden plants, and ensuring timely completion of administrative duties such as procurement, risk assessments, social media updates, and task reporting. They will also lead activities for the under 5’s Nature Explorers group, school visits, themed evening events, and family weekends. Additionally, they'll organise corporate volunteering sessions and cover holiday shifts for the Green Gym gardening program. Previous events have included 'Pampering and Enrichment,' 'Repurpose, Recycle, Reinvent' workshops, and a Black Women in Conservation and Horticulture photo exhibition, as well as our weekend family events featuring free food, music, and arts and crafts activities.

This role involves being friendly and open to various people who visit, from the toddlers attending the Nature Explorers club, to our volunteer gardeners, to senior staff from the local authority. There are two other people working part-time at the garden, and TCV provides thorough training and support from a helpful local team.

Ideally, we’re looking for someone with experience of gardening and/or nature conservation. However, what’s equally important is that the Senior Project Officer has initiative, is welcoming, and comfortable working with a wide range people. We’d therefore welcome applications from candidates who can display those personable qualities, with perhaps experience of working in a community centre setting.

In Spring 2024, TCV will be taking on the management of an additional nearby meanwhile space. The new Senior Project Officer will join us at an exciting time when we begin to turn that space into a new community tree nursery. Working with local people to gather seeds from significant trees in the surrounding area, we aim to grow saplings which will go on to be distributed for planting around London.

Working hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Given the nature of the role the Senior Project Officer will need to work from the garden during these times. Occasionally, to avoid lone working in the absence of another colleague, there will be the opportunity to work from home. Weekend family events take place on Saturdays, four times a year and there are approximately six evening events which take place between April to September. This post holder would be expected to attend those evening and weekend events.
