Senior Finance Manager (Part-Time)

We are looking for an experienced Public Affairs professional to manage and oversee RNIB's work in Parliament and build powerful relationships with the right politicians to drive change for blind and partially sighted people.

With your creativity and attention to detail, you'll make sure that RNIB is top of mind for sight loss in Parliament, that accessibility is well understood by politicians, and that our internal expertise is showcased to politicians to drive change in line with our strategy.

In this new role, you'll drive excellence in public affairs activity, with a forensic attention to detail, a flair for people, and lots of creativity in communications.

You'll build relationships with the right people to open doors for us, and use them effectively in targeted initiatives to make policy effective for blind and partially sighted people.

You'll make sure that the views and experiences of blind or partially sighted people underpin our public affairs strategy and are championed in how we tell our stories.

You'll manage and support staff in the public affairs team, which is made up of an officer and an assistant. The role will evaluate and guiding performance, and providing mentoring and coaching as necessary.

You'll ensure our public affairs activity aligns with our team planning, and delivers strategic outcomes, in line with organisational strategy, and establishing productive relationships with a range of internal stakeholders in other parts of RNIB.

You'll have strong knowledge of the workings of Parliament, and experience of building exceptional ongoing relationships with MPs, Peers and party decision-makers. You'll be confident in leading meetings with decision-makers, and overseeing both tailored one-to-one briefings and largescale email correspondence.

You'll have superb attention to detail, making sure our briefings, evidence and correspondence are impactful, accurate, expertly tailored to what MPs need, and make best use of our internal expertise. You'll also be meticulous about record keeping so we can track and monitor our engagements on diverse topics such as eye health, disability benefits, accessible voting and travel.

You'll be comfortable working at pace, overseeing other staff, and collaborating closely with other roles in Policy and Campaigns to develop effective strategies to succeed in our influencing goals.

You'll understand how to win the attention of Ministers and Parliamentarians using creative and engaging communications as well as events and lobbies, and you'll be confident providing updates and briefings to senior RNIB stakeholders such as our Chief Executive and Chair of Trustees.

Role summary

As Senior Manager for Humberside Women’s Centres you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing our centres and contract delivery in Humberside. Working closely with the Director of Services and supported by a senior key worker your focus will be on providing high quality, trauma-responsive support to women with experience of, or at risk of entering the criminal justice system.

You will lead on managing and delivering our contracts across Humberside to ensure our operational and strategic objectives are met. You will also focus on building excellent relationships with funders and key partners and identifying new partnership and advocacy opportunities.

Supported by a Senior Key Worker, your responsibilities will encompass the day-to-day management of our Women's Centres and contract delivery partners across various locations, including our Hull Women’s Centre, our Hubs in Goole, Beverley, and Bridlington, as well as partnerships in Grimsby and Scunthorpe. 

Managing a team of Key Workers, you will be responsible for ensuring women and girls receive an exceptional service from within a safe, trauma-responsive, women-only spaces. Working alongside our statutory and non-statutory partners in Criminal Justice and Health and Social Care, you will ensure the continued strategic development of the Women’s Centre and represent Together Women at local and regional level.

Your responsibilities will also include identifying and pursuing new funding opportunities, and ensuring the continuity of existing services through effective contract management. As a forward-thinking individual, you will contribute to the wider strategic direction of the organisation as part of the senior management team, which will entail submitting high-quality monitoring reports to funders, line and team management, and contributing to the ongoing development of the vision, mission and values of Together Women.

Key accountabilities

 

Humberside service delivery

 

· Provide strategic and operational management for Together Women’s services across Humberside, including our Hull Centre and our Goole, Beverley and Bridlington Hubs.

· Lead on the planning, implementation, and evaluation of our work across Humberside, and embed Together Women’s values across everything we do.

· Ensure all TW policies and procedures, including safeguarding are implemented, overseeing appropriate staff training and support.

 

People management

 

· Effectively manage a dispersed team, promoting collaboration, cohesion and consistency in delivery and approach, and promote a great workplace culture.

· Line manage direct reports, ensuring all staff receive regular support, supervision and performance review, case management support, and training and development.

· Effectively manage staff resourcing, ensuring we have a fully staffed team with the skills and competencies to provide high quality, trauma-informed services.

· Develop great working relationships across the organisation and build an open, inclusive and collaborative senior management culture.

 

Contracts and partnerships

 

· Lead and manage our statutory and non-statutory contract delivery partners.

· Oversee effective performance management of services; identifying risks, monitoring targets, assessing delivery standards, and ensuring requirements and quality standards are met.

· Lead, manage and develop effective service governance, quality assurance and auditing systems.

· Establish, build and maintain strong relationships with external partners including commissioners, funders, delivery partners and wider stakeholders

· Oversee systems and processes for obtaining feedback from stakeholders, including service users, in order to inform and improve service delivery

Financials and reporting

 

· Manage the operational budget, ensuring services operate within budgets and any variations are identified and reviewed

· Prepare and present accurate, timely reports to internal and external stakeholders as required.

· Identify relevant funding opportunities and prepare funding applications in collaboration with the leadership team, to support long-term sustainability of our services.

· Lead on development, implementation and management of our monitoring and evaluation systems and processes, to evidence the need, reach and impact of our work.

The Door of Hope Project provides support to women who sell sex in Tower Hamlets.  This includes journeying alongside women, whilst providing advocacy, information, emotional and practical support.  The project also has a strong team of around 15 volunteers, who deliver street outreach to women in Tower Hamlets on a Thursday morning and Friday night. 

About the Role

Beyond the Streets is a UK charity with over 20 years’ experience of partnering with women in the sex industry, to see them safe from coercion, violence and abuse. We deliver trauma-informed, person-centred support, provide training, and create resources and reports informed by research, lived experience, and practitioner experience.

Our ‘Direct Work’ is central to the organisation, and we are looking to recruit a new Women’s Support Worker.

Taking a woman-centred approach, your role is to provide holistic support for women with complex needs who want support, or to exit the sex industry. We are looking for someone with energy, motivation and experience of working with vulnerable adults; someone who a highly developed sense of self-awareness who can work in a gender and trauma informed way.

This role will be part of a small team of support workers, and a service manager, who deliver an in-person support service, with women who sell sex on-street in East London. You will have frontline experience of working with individuals who experience multiple disadvantage. This might be in the VAWG sector, domestic abuse, substance misuse, mental health or counselling or direct experience of women in the sex industry. You will have a good understanding of working with vulnerable people and be aware of the need for Safeguarding.

You will be a champion of the cause, have a passion for supporting women who face multiple disadvantages and be familiar with the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) sector.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and be able to support women in a trauma-informed and non-judgemental way.  We are looking for someone with energy, resilience, who can increase our reach and positive impact on women.

You’ll need…

• Experience of working withing a front-line delivery team

Our London, South-East & East Region has a new opportunity for an Executive Officer. You will be responsible for supporting effective grant-making across the region, helping us to distribute over £130m to good causes throughout the region.

As an Executive Officer, you’ll be part of a driven and passionate team, led by a Senior Head of Regional Funding. Within the team there are 2 Senior Grant Making Managers, 10 Funding Managers, 40 Funding Officers as well as 1 other Executive Officer. You will report into a Funding Manager and work both remotely and be based for some of the time in the London Office (located near King’s Cross Station). There will be some occasional travel to other locations across the region throughout the year. 

Organising will be at the heart of your role and you will be in regular contact with the team across the region. The key duties of the role include:

· Supporting the Senior Head of Regional Funding, managers and their teams.

· Administration of our grant making database using Salesforce.

· Diary management for Senior Head of Regional Funding and Senior Managers.

· Organising, supporting and minuting a range of regular online and meetings face to face.

· Responding to customer enquiries made to the region.

· Supporting teams with stakeholder engagement.

· General administrative and facilities support.

 The role is London based and there will be an expectation that Executive Officers will be based in the office around 2 days a week.
