Chatterbox Befrienders offer one-to-one telephone support and will call a client once a week offering companionship and a listening ear for an individual who might otherwise go unheard. Chatterbox volunteers befriend a variety of people including carers, socially isolated individuals who are struggling with loneliness, people with ill health and those that 
have been bereaved.

- Respecting service standards, appropriate boundaries and recognising the range of policies and procedures that impact on befriending vulnerable adults

About the role 

As a Regional Fundraising Volunteer, you will support Rethink Mental Illness in generating income, raising awareness, and building community engagement through local fundraising initiatives. Now that Schools have reopened, we will be continuing these sessions to ensure that learners do not fall behind as Schools focus on catching up on lost learning. The aim is to support children who may be falling behind with their studies and mitigating as far as possible the widening attainment gap.

Care4Calais is a volunteer-based charity providing essential aid and support for refugees in France and the UK.

In northern France we operate year-round from Calais, providing warm clothing, bedding, food and assistance to refugees who live in appalling and dangerous conditions. 

Across the UK we collect and distribute clothes, shoes, mobile phones and other essential items, as well as offering social support and interaction, including language lessons, sport and music workshops. We also help with vital access to legal, medical and educational services.

Our Legal Access Department is an access to justice project that exists to arrange critical legal representation for people seeking asylum and, more than this, to support people through the hostility and difficulty of claiming asylum. The department, made up mostly of volunteers, works tirelessly to ensure that people feel informed, empowered, and far less isolated and alone.

About the team:

The Public Law team operates within our Legal Access Department, which works to support clients navigating the complex and often traumatic asylum system in the UK. The Public Law team's main focus is on challenging issues relating to Home Office-provided accommodation. We support hundreds of clients accommodated at former MoD site RAF Wethersfield and in Home Office-run hotels across the UK. We provide one-to-one casework for individuals in unsuitable accommodation, gathering information to support a transfer request to more suitable accommodation, and gathering data and evidence for wider legal challenges and advocacy work. We believe that people seeking asylum have a right to feel safe in their accommodation.

What we're building

We're developing an MVP platform that combines:

• Predictive analytics for early detection of workplace wellbeing issues
• Real-time monitoring and personalised intervention recommendations
• Time-series tracking of individual and team wellness metrics

• A lightweight, intuitive interface that seamlessly integrates into daily workflows

This isn't just another wellness platform - it's a proactive system that shifts organisations from reactive surveys to meaningful, data-driven support.

What we need

We're seeking a volunteer Full Stack Developer with experience in:

Backend/Data Infrastructure

• Building RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
• Working with time-series databases and handling complex data pipelines
• Implementing machine learning model integration (experience with model serving/deployment)
• Database design for high-dimensional, structured datasets
• Authentication & security best practices for sensitive HR/wellness data

Frontend development

• Creating responsive, accessible dashboards with data visualisation
• Building real-time scoring interfaces that display risk metrics
• Experience with progressive web apps or mobile-first design
• Implementing notification systems for alerts and interventions
• UI/UX sensibility for healthcare/wellness applications

Bonus skills (not mandatory)

• Experience with Python ML frameworks (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch)
• Knowledge of GDPR/data privacy compliance for employee data
• Background in healthcare tech, HR tech, or mental health platforms
• DevOps experience (Docker, CI/CD, cloud deployment)

Exciting opportunity as Chair of trustees of a small and dynamic arts and crafts re-use charity in SW London looking to take the charity forward and grow and diversify its income streams.The Chair will join an established and small board of trustees and must be experienced in leading a board in terms of strategy, risk and planning, financial governance, building positive relationships, one-to-one reviews with trustees to bring out the best in them, building the board and growing the charity's impact. 

The Chair will have a wide-ranging impact, shaping the charity's strategic direction and helping it achieve the charity's mission to promote artful re-use of waste materials diverted from landfiil and incineration for use with a wide range of beneficiaries for artistic, educational, recreational or therapeutic benefit throughout south-west London. Your leadership will ensure that the charity provides and extends its range of support and services to existing and future beneficiaries and maintains its role as an active participant in the circular economy. 

Make a difference by providing company and conversation to an older person in Croydon. Our Befriending service supports older adults by alleviating loneliness and isolation, supporting independence, and increasing self-confidence, by making weekly or fortnightly visits to a client living in the borough of Croydon.

Befriender - In Person

Duties:
• Providing companionship to clients in their home, sharing a cup of tea
• Other activities mutually agreed by both the volunteer and client, such as reading together, or helping with post, and within the Befriending Programme’s guidelines
• Maintaining records of client visits and sending those to the Befriending Coordinator on a regular basis
• Accompanying client out for a walk or to the shop if they are sufficiently able
• Accompanying client to weekly activities or social clubs to support client’s
independence
• Escorting clients to GP/hospital appointments as needed
• Adherence to Age UK Croydon’s policies and procedures, including Confidentiality and Safeguarding
Skills Required:
• Good listening and communication skills
• An open-minded and non-judgemental attitude
• An understanding and awareness of issues faced by older adults
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries

Befriender - Telephone

Duties:
• Providing companionship to clients by telephone for a chat

About the role

As a Trustee, you’ll have the chance to shape YMCA Essex’s strategy and support its senior leadership team as they grow services, strengthen governance, and champion their mission in the community.

You might draw on your experience of:

• Leading teams or organisations, and offering strategic insight.
• Supporting and constructively challenging senior colleagues.
• Bringing sound judgement around governance, finance, or risk.
• Acting as an advocate or ambassador in your community or professional networks.

You will:

• Join quarterly Board meetings and sit on either the Finance or Governance Committee.
• Contribute around 4 hours a month, including occasional events.
• Support the CEO and leadership team as a trusted adviser and sounding board.
• Champion and celebrate the staff and volunteers who bring their mission to life.

As a Trustee, you will help YMCA Essex deliver on their mission, ensuring their services make the greatest possible difference.
