As an Enhanced Support Worker you will support vulnerable people living in a variety of different tenures to manage their tenancies/ licences and move towards greater independence within the community, by providing flexible and individually tailored support.

The working pattern involves a set five-week rolling rota covering early, late, and weekend shifts. Shift times: Early: 8am-4pm. Late: 2:30pm-10:30pm. The service operates 24 hours 7 days a week.

Undertake initial and continuous assessment of needs and potential risks and agree levels of support actions and capture outcomes in Support and Risk Management files.
Create support/action plans for providing appropriate services based on the assessment and reflecting the services and resources available.

Robes is a small but mighty charity tackling homelessness across Southwark and Lambeth. Working with over 600 volunteers, churches and community partners, we deliver life-changing services to vulnerable people on the streets.

In winter, we run emergency night shelters. Year-round, our Wednesday Club offers hot meals, showers and support. We provide up to six months of floating support to help guests secure sustainable accommodation and find employment or training.

About You

The Role

You'll lead fundraising strategy across multiple income streams, focusing on trusts, foundations, corporate partnerships and major donors. You'll manage the full fundraising cycle from research and relationship-building through stewardship.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you’ll execute our new fundraising strategy, support our growth plans, research funding opportunities, write strong grant applications, manage a pipeline of major donor prospects, plan our 20th anniversary campaign, and provide quarterly progress reports.

With three days a week focused on foundation and corporate partnerships work, a full-time role would typically include one day on legacy work and one day on community events.

You bring at least three years' fundraising experience, ideally in a charity setting. You're skilled at grant writing, relationship management and strategic planning. You have excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. You're proactive, flexible and genuinely motivated by mission.

Support Workers will devise person centred support plans with customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet their needs and goals. This will include sign posting them to the local drug and alcohol services to address substance misuse issues. They will work with customers to promote social inclusion and alongside other members of the team to promote independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices.

Staff are expected to work 8 hours daily on a shift rota basis. This will include weekend working. Shifts are 7.30am to 3.30pm and 2.00pm to 10pm.

For homeless people, or those at risk of homelessness, finding employment and housing opportunities can feel like an uphill battle, even more so if they’re affected by physical, mental health or substance misuse issues. Providence Row works with those affected by homelessness and those vulnerably housed in London, offering an integrated service of crisis support, advice and progression programmes. We ensure that people often excluded from mainstream services gain the support and opportunities they need to create a safe, healthy and sustainable life away from the streets.

Through our Reset Outreach & Referral Service (RORS), we support people in Tower Hamlets affected by drugs and alcohol. Our team takes a harm-reduction approach: meeting people where they are, reducing stigma, and helping them access treatment, health services, and wider community support.

This role is an opportunity to make a real difference—whether you bring experience from substance use services or transferable skills and a passion for supporting people.

The ideal candidate

To be considered for this role, you should be able to:

• Provide outreach and in-reach support to people affected by substance use across Tower Hamlets, including those who may have a history of rough sleeping, be vulnerably housed, or otherwise disconnected from mainstream services.

• Carry out person-centred assessments and work collaboratively with service users to develop support and recovery plans.

• Make timely and appropriate referrals to specialist services (e.g. treatment, health, housing, and social care) to ensure holistic support.

• Develop strong working relationships with partner agencies to coordinate joint support and reduce barriers to engagement.

Run over three properties, Hammersmith & Fulham's South Cluster provides two of which for individuals with low-medium mental health requirements and the third for service users with greater needs. The services all support adults (18+) with enduring mental health needs, who require additional housing and other support.​

This service is for users who have a recognised need for a level of supported accommodation who may be leaving hospital, registered cared or at risk of homelessness. The service is used as a ‘step-up' or ‘step down' from other supported accommodation, where appropriate. The South Cluster aims to equip service users with the skills to move on and live independently in the future.​

What do I need to bring with me?

You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. Here's what the team will be looking for

To succeed in this role, you will bring a solid understanding of Health and Safety within an accommodation-based setting, along with the ability to monitor and maintain the safety and security of the service while reporting any maintenance needs appropriately. You will have experience supporting people with mental health needs and a basic knowledge of housing management, including maintenance and repairs. Strong literacy, numeracy and IT skills are essential, enabling you to produce clear written communication and maintain accurate records. You will also have a sound understanding of safeguarding and the confidence to address concerns appropriately to ensure the wellbeing of those you support.

When will I be working?

You will be working Monday to Sunday 5 days a week on a rota starting as early as 08:00 until 23:00 latest no more then 39 hours a week

As a Support Worker you will be expected to undertake duties and work as part of the staff team to support customers with daily support to achieve personal goals by using person centred approach.

What you'll do:
* Work proactively with the team to handle the service caseload and support an effective team approach to meeting each customer's identified needs.
* Contribute to a positive service environment, ensuring the service is supportive and a place of safety and stability for customers. This includes working flexibly and being proactively in delivering, reviewing and arranging effective support for emerging needs and risks in order to prevent escalating concerns.
* Ensure Look Ahead Health and Safety policies and local protocols are always adhered to, to ensure the safety of the customers, colleagues, visitors, contractors and premises including responding to maintenance, fire and health and safety issues.
* The ability to follow Infection Control guidelines and use initiatives to manage it. For example, following a thorough cleaning rota and completing all relevant checks such as living standards checks.
* Deliver all aspects of support to enable customers to develop independent living skills as appropriate to the individual needs of the customer. This may include practical tasks, delivering personal care (if required), including but not limited to prompting and or supporting with personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication management and personal finances support as required.

Our Young People’s Supported Housing Service is funded by Southwark Council to provide supported accommodation to care experienced young people (with the status as looked after children or care leavers), and/or young people at risk of homelessness within the North of the Borough:

• A 24-7 staffed 16 bed Ofsted registered supported housing project for young women aged 16-21.
• 40 bedspaces of accommodation across 10 properties, for young people aged 18-21 with visiting support.

Our properties are places of safety, Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE), from which we work with children and young people using person-led, holistic, trauma-informed and solution-focused approaches. Look Ahead's Hammersmith & Fulham Mental Health Service is a Mental Health supported accommodation which is a pathway service for people to work towards their independence.

As a Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting our residents to help them to enhance life skills and increase independence and manage their health. This also includes tenancy management and other life skills.

Support Workers in the service work across all 3 projects in Hammersmith and Fulham; working with customers with varying levels of support needs. Many of the customers have complex needs including dual diagnosis and Support Workers are expected to liaise with other agencies within the borough to best support customers. Support Workers are expected to support customers on their journey to independence in a person-centred, non-judgemental way, whilst adhering to the Look Ahead core values.

The work schedule for this position follows a 5-week rotating pattern. It involves working on weekends and bank holidays. In this 5-week cycle, there are two weekends off and one full weekend of work.

You work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with the ability to support and induct new peer staff and volunteers. You are flexible and able to work early, late, weekend, and bank holiday shifts to meet 24-hour service needs.

You also bring strong IT, literacy, and numeracy skills, with the ability to produce clear written communication and use MS Word, Outlook, and online systems confidently.
