Mediator 

Location: Hatfield, with travel across Hertfordshire
Salary: £28,893 - £29,679 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract: Permanent 
Hours: 37 hours per week (including some evening work)

We're looking for an empathetic, proactive and skilled Mediator to join our team and support young people and their families to navigate conflict, strengthen communication and explore positive solutions together.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people aged 10-24 and their families across Hertfordshire. 

About the Role

As a Mediator, you will deliver high-quality mediation services to young people and families experiencing conflict. You'll work with family members to help them communicate effectively, rebuild relationships and identify realistic, sustainable solutions.

You'll provide both short and longer-term mediation interventions, working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to ensure young people receive holistic support tailored to their individual needs.

The role involves countywide travel and occasional evening work to meet the needs of young people and families. 

We're Looking For Someone Who:

• Has experience working with young people and/or families experiencing conflict
• Understands the principles and practice of mediation
• Can engage, motivate and build positive relationships with young people and families
• Is organised and able to manage a varied workload effectively
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrates a fair, objective and non-judgemental approach
• Works well independently and as part of a supportive team
• Has good IT and administrative skills
• Is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of their work

• Holds a full driving licence and has access to a vehicle for business use. 

A professional qualification in social work, counselling, nursing or a related field would be advantageous, as would knowledge of homelessness, children's legislation, mental health or substance misuse.
