OVERALL PURPOSE

The primary purpose of the Night and Weekend Supervisor role is to oversee the provision of high-quality services. This includes supervising night care staff, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and providing direct support to clients to promote their well-being and independence.

GENUINE OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT

In accordance with the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1, it is a genuine occupational requirement (GOR) that the post holder is female. This requirement is essential for the role due to the following reasons:

1. Privacy and Dignity: The role involves working closely with female residents during sensitive hours (evenings, nights, and weekends) where privacy and dignity are paramount. Female residents may feel uncomfortable or distressed receiving support from a male/male presenting worker during these times, especially in situations involving personal care or emotional vulnerability.

2. Safety and Trust: Many of the residents may have experienced trauma, including domestic violence or abuse, often perpetrated by males. The presence of a female manager helps create a safe and supportive environment where these individuals can feel secure and trust the support being provided.

3. Legitimate Aim: The requirement ensures that the MPMT can maintain its commitment to providing gender-sensitive services tailored to the needs of vulnerable females. This aligns with the legitimate aim of protecting residents’ well-being and mental health.

4. Proportionality: The occupational requirement is a proportionate means of achieving the legitimate aim, as it directly addresses the needs of residents in a way that cannot be achieved through alternative measures, such as reallocating duties or employing male/male presenting staff for this role.

This GOR has been carefully considered to ensure compliance with legal standards under the Equality Act 2010 and is applied only where it is essential for fulfilling the primary responsibilities of this specific role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Supervision:

• Oversee the working practices of night staff to ensure high standards are maintained.
• Conduct regular meetings with direct reports for supervision and support, handling disciplinary or performance issues as needed.
• Carry out the induction and training of new staff and volunteers, and participate in team appraisals.

· Provide guidance, training, and support to night care staff

Resident Support:

• Participate in annual safeguarding training for children and adults and act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (Level 3).
• Provide emotional and practical support to distressed residents, fostering development and independence.
• Ensure the resident’s records are accurately maintained and updated.
• Foster a respectful and supportive environment for both residents and staff,

Compliance and Safety:

· Ensure adherence to all health and safety and safeguarding policies.

· Report any incidents or concerns to the Night and Weekend Manager promptly.

Administrative Duties:

· Assist in updating internal management information systems (e.g., INFORM) with relevant data.

· Support basic rent account management tasks as needed.

· Help coordinate staff schedules and cover arrangements for night shifts.

· Monitor and report on stock levels of essential supplies used during night shifts.

· Participate in occasional meetings or training sessions outside regular hours to stay informed about organisational updates.

· Ensure all administrative practices comply with MPMT’s policies and procedures.

We are looking for 2 organised and dedicated Project Workers who have a strong empathy with single homeless people, to coordinate our intensive housing management services across our South London boroughs.

You will be joining a small , friendly registered charity and registered provider with a supportive team.

Job purpose

The Project Worker will be responsible for the delivery of a responsive intensive housing management service to clients allocated by the Team Leader.

The central aim of the role is to support homeless clients temporarily living in CLHT placements to become as independent as possible and to facilitate timely move-on into independent living settings.

This will be achieved through regular client-led keywork sessions and in close collaboration with external partners. 

The Project Worker will coordinate the day-to-day smooth running of each house they are responsible for.

Duties and responsibilities specific to the role

Intensive Housing Management

1. Responsible for a broad range of housing management activities, including signing up new residents, issuing licensing agreements, delivering new client inductions, occupancy management and eviction / abandonment.
2. Evictions are a last resort and CLHT works within the Homeless Link guidance on preventing evictions and abandonment.
3. Work collaboratively with the Finance team to coordinate rent/ service charge collections
4. Carry out regular occupancy checks.
5. Maintain accurate and timely records related to housing management activities, within the requirements of GDPR.
6. Maintain a healthy and safe environment and encourage clients to take individual responsibility for their living environment and for positive relationships with fellow residents.
7. Ensure the accommodation where clients live is clean and maintained to a high standard, in line with CLHT property standards.
8. Ensure the accommodation meets all legal and statutory health and fire safety requirements
9. Work in close collaboration with the Maintenance team to ensure all repairs and maintenance issues are correctly reported and resolved.
10. To promote and encourage client participation in the Intensive Housing Management process and to act as advocate for clients when necessary.
11. This includes leading regular house meetings and encouraging clients to become ‘resident representatives’.
12. To document each visit to projects, detailing tasks undertaken, any changes that have occurred and other relevant information.
13. Manage antisocial behaviour and clients complaints in line with our Anti-Social Behaviour and Complaints procedures.
14. Liaise with senior managers to ensure complaints are addressed in a timely manner.

Health and Safety

1. Adhere to best practice in meeting the requirements of health and safety legislation in all aspects of the organisation’s work.
2. Ensure you undertake required health and safety training.
3. Comply with Health and Safety requirements and conduct all activities in a manner which is safe for yourself and others.
4. Ensure you follow the Lone Working Policies and Procedures - making full use of the IT Lone Working tools made available by CLHT
5. To report and record any accident or incident which may occur- no matter how minor - whether to clients or staff, follow RIDDOR reporting procedures, report to the police where applicable in line with policies at all times.

Keyworking, Support planning, risk assessment

1. Ensure all clients have a robust risk assessment, needs assessment and support plan which identifies and meets their needs as far as possible within the remit of the service.
2. Use the SMART process to ensure all actions from keyworking are followed up.
3. Develop client engagement techniques, being creative in your approach to encourage client participation in the keyworking, support planning and risk assessment process.
4. Always ensure that clients are provided with the full range of information required to make informed decisions which encourages freedom and empowerment.
5. Signpost and refer to external statutory and voluntary sector partners where necessary
6. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all key partners, escalating any concerns about partner agency engagement to your line manager.
7. Maintain up-to-date, GDPR-compliant records on CLHT IT systems, including clients signed copies of all keyworking, support planning and risk assessment documents.
8. Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of Adult Safeguarding

About The Role

The post holder will be supporting the Project Coordinator to deliver the My Health Matters project in Salford. You will facilitate the delivery of the Homeless Health Peer Advocacy by coordinating a team of lived experience peer advocates to deliver 1-2-1 advocacy style support to those experiencing homelessness in Salford. You will help to recruit and train volunteers and support them with their progression goals. The role includes case management of My Health Matters clients including managing referrals, quality assuring support work and coordinating the project’s drop-in network. The post will be based in our office at Swan St but will require travel across Greater Manchester with special focus in and around the Salford area. In addition, occasional travel to other cities including possible overnights may be required.

My Health Matters is a peer-led health inclusion project that works towards an inclusive health system where everyone has access to the health care they need, supporting people experiencing homelessness to address physical and mental health issues through the delivery of a Homeless Health Peer Advocacy service. We work to improve people’s confidence in using health services and increase their ability to access healthcare independently. The project brings together frontline health and social care services with those with lived experience supporting the co-production of solutions to health inequalities in Manchester.

The Digital Inclusion Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting the Black Country’s vision - of creating a region where people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds can be active, move more, and enjoy sport - through maximising the use of digital connectivity to realise health, wellbeing and community benefits.

This role aims to increase a range of opportunities for local people to be active & move more, through implementing the Physical Activity Digital Inclusion strategy to address user needs, develop digital literacy and confidence through training and support, and collaborate with other sectors to create inclusive digital services and opportunities.

Main Duties

1.As the Digital Inclusion Manager, you will develop and manage an implementation plan which reflects the desired outcomes of Active Black Country’s Physical Activity Digital Strategy.

2.    Work with the place partners across the 4 Black Country local authority areas and Active Black Country to develop a comprehensive understanding of the digital landscape across the Black Country.

3. Develop effective working relationships with a breadth of partners and organisations to support integration across digital platforms and systems to connect, maximise resources and influence across the Black Country.

4. Be the lead advocate for the Black Country Moving digital platform as a resource for stakeholders and community organisations to promote opportunities for people to be active and access high quality CPD & training.

5. Work closely with Active Black Country’s Active Communities Strategic Lead to oversee the work of the Community Engagement Officers and work closely with partners to build capacity across community organisations to become confident and capable in using digital tools that make it easier for residents to access physical activity opportunities.

Department/Service:

The finance department is responsible for the overall financial management and administration of the 4million turnover at GSU. The department plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, including HMRC, Charities Commission, Companies House, and pensions. This includes supporting our annual external financial audit.

The finance team act as Business Partners to the rest of the organisation ensuring they understand financial processes to aid effective working. The team also work alongside our external payroll provider and our external digital system provider to ensure smooth and effective working.

Job Purpose:

Provide a professional, accurate, and timely accounting service in respect to all management and statutory reporting. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external support services to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the Finance department, ensuring excellence in service delivery.

Reports to:

• Currently reporting to the CEO whilst the senior management role in the Finance Department is under review. The senior management post is currently vacant.

Responsible for:

• Supporting, managing, supervising, and developing one Finance Coordinator and one Finance Assistant.
• Temporary Interns and/or student staff supporting the Finance team as required

Duties and Key Responsibilities

1. Management and Statutory Reporting:

• Prepare accurate management accounts on a timely basis each month.
• Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly, including accruals and prepayments.
• Prepare and submit statutory reports, including VAT Returns, Companies House, and Charities Commission Annual Returns.
• Support the preparation of the annual accounts for the external financial audit and play an instrumental role during the audit process.
• Reconcile GSU bank accounts including PayPal online accounts weekly and monthly.
• Reconcile Commercial Income to Bank Accounts producing weekly sales and analysis reports.

2. Budgeting, Forecasting, and Cashflow Statements:

• Support in the preparation of the annual budget and reforecasts.
• Create forecast reports and statements as and when required.
• Produce monthly and annual cashflow and liquidity statements.

3. Business Partnering and Collaboration:

• Act as a business partner to all GSU staff members, providing financial insights and support to meet organisational goals.
• Work alongside external support services (e.g., payroll providers and digital finance systems) to ensure smooth operations and excellence in the Finance department.
• Collaborate with external auditors and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and effective financial management.

4. Managing and Supervisory Duties:

• Supervise and support the professional development of two GSU finance staff members.
• Foster a team culture that promotes accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
• Oversee the responsibilities of Finance Coordinator and Finance Administrator and ensure their tasks align with departmental goals.
• Supervise and support interns and student staff as appropriate.

5. Digital Systems and Processes:

• Maintain efficient digital finance systems and processes to streamline financial operations (Twinfield, Ezora & Basecone for example).
• Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of digital records and reporting systems.
• Evaluate and improve digital tools and workflows to enhance departmental efficiency.

6. General Finance Department Duties:

• Oversee and assist with sales ledger, purchase ledger, and payroll functions as needed.
• Support the Finance Coordinator and Finance Assistant to issue and maintain records of purchase orders and associated invoices.
• Support the Finance Coordinator and Finance Assistant to maintain and post all petty cash transactions.
• Prepare ad hoc financial reports and information for the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), Trustee Board, and other stakeholders as required.
• Respond proactively to financial queries from GSU staff.
• Support the ongoing review and development of Finance department systems and procedures.
• Maintain customer-facing systems and ensure smooth operations for Finance department stakeholders.

7. External Audit and Compliance:

• Prepare schedules and reconciliations for the annual audit.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including HMRC and Charities Commission guidelines.

Edward Gibbons House is seeking an enthusiastic Senior Substance Misuse Worker to support our amazing residents.

Providence Row Housing Association has been helping homeless people in East London since 1860. We provide social housing along with excellent services that aim to support homeless people with complex needs and enable their recovery. We remain committed to our East London roots and currently serve the communities in Tower Hamlets, Hackney and the City of London.

Our Senior Substance Misuse Worker works alongside members of the support team to create a safe and welcoming environment within a psychologically informed environment. You will contribute to the development of the recovery hub, by providing expertise in alcohol and drug misuse. Taking a lead role in delivering training/ advising staff on substance misuse issues, liaison with substance misuse agencies, facilitating multidisciplinary case conferences and negotiating access to detox and treatment services. Carrying out assessments of drug and alcohol usage with key clients, delivering brief and extended interventions, outlining risks, advice on harm minimisation and refer to specialist agencies.

You will also conduct surveys of residents view and opinions, assist with audits and reporting on the service, help to ensure compliance with regulation and best practice, and work with a Support Team which promotes person centred coproduced approaches.

You need to have experience of working with homeless people with complex needs, have a good understanding of strengths, needs, and risks they experience. Finance Manager Job Description

Brent Mencap has been passionate about a healthier and fairer Brent since 1979. We’ve developed and run successful housing, employment, health, advice, wellbeing and self-advocacy services. During austerity and Covid we diversified, successfully taking on NHS work with people with long-term health conditions. We provide social prescribing support and health and wellbeing coaching to patients for Brent GPs. In 2024-25 we helped over 18000 people. We’re a leading partner on the Brent Health Educators Programme.

Our income has substantially  increased from £382k in 19/20 to £1.71 million in 23-24. We’ve had to adapt quickly, developing and retaining a much larger staff group, using our data better and improving our marketing.

Brent Mencap offers fantastic free creative and wellbeing activities for people with a learning disability, autism and long-term health conditions. These have flourished since Covid. People love yoga, poetry, singing, gardening, Breathe and Move, self-advocacy, campaigning, awareness raising, CREATE art activities for young people, external trips and parties. Small grants, donations and our reserves fund this while we get longer term funding. Our self-advocates want us to focus on paid employment, youth services and making Brent Council use accessible information properly.

Our current finance manager has been pivotal to Brent Mencap’s recent growth, adapting to paying more people, dealing with complicated invoices, making sure we get paid promptly, being as diligent about a project budget worth 5k as our overall budget and supportive with staff  wage queries. While there is lots of data input, reconciling, processing purchase orders, the role involves real involvement in project development, monitoring with other managers and face-to-face involvement with users and staff. As Finance Manager for Brent Mencap, you will have a key leadership position.
