Work Location/Hybrid Working Pattern

The role ensures effective financial functions across the organisation, manages compliance with UK and overseas regulatory requirements, and works closely and hands on with other teams to oversee the preparation of proposals and budgets for prospective grants.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a passionate, talented senior finance professional with at least 5 years post qualified experience. You will have experience working in a similar senior-level finance role in the not-for-profit sector, international/intergovernmental organisation or social enterprise. You will have qualified and hold membership in a recognised professional accountancy body.  Your qualification and experience will ensure you hold an advanced understanding of the principles underpinning financial management and planning, with significant all-round accounting, financial management, full grants cycle management, compliance, risk and financial sustainability experience.  You will be experienced in year-end reporting and proficient in engaging with statutory and other auditors.  Ideally you will bring experience gained in a similar international charity, working in a multi-currency environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Leadership

· Lead on strategic financial planning and financial management at Girls Not Brides to advance the organisation’s business model, financial sustainability, and growth through long-range financial projection and planning, maximisation of income, and strong financial reporting.

· Ensure that financial planning feeds into the organisation’s work planning process and supports the strategic objectives of the organisation.

· Support all Directors/Heads of teams to ensure ownership of financial planning, annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, cost management, priorities and activities, as best serves the mission of the organisation.

· Lead on financial risk management including the implementation of appropriate risk management strategies such as financial controls, fraud prevention and processes to ensure value for money, and conduct regular reviews of Girls Not Brides’ financial policies and processes.

· Provide critical financial information, analysis, advice and support on financial issues and emerging opportunities.

· Assume responsibility for managing, planning and monitoring the Finance department’s budget.

· Manages timely, accurate and impactful quarterly management accounts to enable business planning and monitoring of organisational performance.

Audit and Tax Compliance

· Manage compliance with UK and overseas legal, statutory accounting and regulatory requirements, including signing off on all statutory filings as required by the Charity Commission, Companies House, HMRC and the Pension Regulator.

· Manage the production of the annual report and financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, SORP and accounting standards.

· Manage the external audit process and implementation of the audit findings.

· Oversee the project audits required by donors.

Grant Accounting and Compliance

· Work with the Development & Outreach Team, the Senior Finance & Grants Officer and the Senior Coordinator for Grants to oversee preparation of proposals and budgets for prospective grants.

· Supervise the preparation of all financial grant reporting, ensuring that the Development & Outreach team receive accurate and timely information for effective grant and donor management and compliance.

· Maximise cost-recovery from grants through strong financial planning and cost analysis processes, to ensure financial viability of projects and grant agreements.

· Provide support to, and build capacity of, other teams to support grant compliance as necessary. 

· Review, and as needed negotiate, the legal and financial provisions of grant agreements.

· Oversee and ensure all received grants are promptly recorded and acknowledged, as well as paid out and reported on in accordance with donor requirements.

· Achieve timely, effective and clean external grant audits.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential experience

· ACA/ACCA/CCAB/CIMA qualified. 

· Significant professional post-qualified experience in a similar senior-level finance role in the not-for-profit sector, international/intergovernmental organisation or social enterprise

· Degree-level qualification in a relevant area such as accounting, finance or business administration, or equivalent professional experience.

· Up-to-date knowledge of relevant UK charity statutory requirements e.g. SORP, Charity Accounting, IFRS/IAS.

· Advanced understanding of the principles underpinning financial and grant management and planning and of demonstrating impact and value for money.

· Significant all-round accounting, financial management, full grants cycle management, compliance, risk and financial sustainability experience, likely gained in an international charity, e.g. working in a multi-currency environment.

· Proven experience of presenting and working with Boards and Finance Committees.

· Proven experience with contracts and grants management, including cost recovery models and revenue management, as well as donor compliance and due diligence. 

· Demonstrated experience in strategic business planning and review.

· Demonstrated direct experience of financial reporting to a Board of Trustees and major donors.

· Experience of using multi-currency accounting systems, such as Sun Systems, SAP Concur, QuickBooks, Sage and other relevant systems.

· Good knowledge of using complex excel functions such as macros, vlookup, pivot, sumifs, data analysis.

The Role

The Head of Partnerships and Fundraising is responsible for the majority of income generation for our charity. The Switch raises income from corporate volunteering partnerships and through grant applications to other trusts and charities, which together contribute circa £800,000 per year. This is a role that requires strategic thinking, relationship and negotiation skills, and the ability to meet income targets.

This role will manage and grow our current key corporate partners, ensuring sustainability and longevity in our partnerships. The person will be responsible for communicating effectively with corporate partners on a strategic level, to understand how we can improve our volunteering offer and communicate impact to their business.

The job-holder will seek new partnerships in diverse industries where we have fewer stakeholders, to ensure our young people work with companies and volunteers from wide-ranging sectors.

In this position you will scope fundraising opportunities from grant and trusts, and be adept at assessing our viability so that applications we submit have a higher rate of success than average.

As Head of Partnerships and Fundraising, you will create new income streams which The Switch has not considered before, for example legacy funding, individual giving, corporate match funding. This will improve our financial stability.

In addition to income generation, this role will lead the Partnerships team and manage two to three staff as follows :

1. Our Corporate Partnerships and Volunteer Manager - oversees all volunteer logistics, including maintaining volunteer records and distributing relevant briefing materials to ensure volunteers are well-prepared for their role. Some time dedicated to fundraising too.

2. Our Communication Coordinator – leads on our regular comms including our digital newsletter, social media pages, and bespoke comms for projects or funders.

· The Head of Partnerships and Fundraising leads the Partnerships Team and reports to the CEO.

· Working hours are typically 9am – 5pm Monday – Thursday, and 9am – 4pm Fridays.

· Working from home (WFH) is typically 2 days a week, with Wednesdays mandatory in the office.

· Flexibility will be required to cover meetings or events outside of these hours and WFH days.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our sector-leading Community Fundraising team as a Community Fundraising Executive.

We’re an ambitious charity with a bold mission and fantastic culture. As a key member of the Community Fundraising team, you’ll work alongside the Community Fundraising Managers, Executives and Co-ordinators to achieve the exciting growth plans in our new 3-year fundraising strategy.

In this role, you’ll take the lead on our DIY walking and cycling fundraising activity, which currently raises over £750k each year. You’ll be responsible for providing outstanding relationship management for our fundraisers, ensuring every supporter feels valued, motivated and proud to be part of our community.

Using data and insight, you’ll spot trends, identify new opportunities and help shape fresh, creative ideas to grow income and improve the supporter experience. We’re looking for someone with knowledge and experience of working in a fundraising environment – ideally within a community or events context. You’ll have a proven track record of delivering brilliant supporter experiences, building genuine relationships and stewarding fundraisers through their events. You’ll bring excellent organisational skills and experience of planning and managing projects with multiple stakeholders, making sure we hit our KPIs and maximise fundraising income. With knowledge of how to plan, deliver and evaluate marketing activity, including digital campaigns on Meta, you’ll be comfortable finding ways to engage new supporters and keep them motivated.

You’ll have experience developing, or supporting the development of, annual fundraising plans and budgets, and delivering against these to meet targets.

The Role: Family Services Manager

As our Family Services Manager, you will provide operational and strategic oversight of all service delivery at Home-Start Lambeth. You will be instrumental in ensuring our services deliver real value to the families we support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Service Leadership: Oversee and develop service delivery, ensuring strategic and operational priorities are met.
• Team Management: Line manage and support our dedicated Family Coordinators and Volunteering Officer, fostering a culture of learning and development.
• Project and Performance Management: Lead on project management, performance management, and ensure compliance with policies and legal requirements, including safeguarding.
• Safeguarding and Compliance: Promote children's welfare and ensure compliance with safeguarding best practice.

• Partnership Working: Develop and maintain strategic relationships with external partners to enhance awareness and reach of Home-Start Lambeth's services

What we are looking for:

• A high standard of education (BA/BSC, degree apprenticeship, level 6 qualification)
• Direct experience working with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
• Proven project management, staff line management (including performance management), and service management experience.
• A strong working knowledge of the needs of families with children under five, and current legislation and policies relating to children and families.
• A deep commitment to good safeguarding practice and professional confidentiality.
