Housing Support Worker Jobs in London, Greater London
Disability Advice Service Lambeth (dasl) is Lambeth’s peer-led Disabled People’s Organisation.
You will lead a two-year project contributing to the work of the No Wrong Door partnership – local organisations and local residents working together to ensure there is ‘No Wrong Door’ for Black Disabled people seeking employment, as they can expect excellent support from any organisation.

We are now looking for a Peer Navigator (lived experience practitioner) within our Homelessness service to deliver a relationship-based intervention to those experiencing drug and alcohol problems and homelessness, providing both practical and emotional support.
Everyone is welcome at The Salvation Army, and we encourage people from all backgrounds to apply to become part of our skilled and effective workforce. As a faith-based charity we expect our people to work within our faith-based ethos and our values of integrity, accountability, compassion, passion, boldness, and respect.

The usual pattern of work will be Monday-Friday with hours between 8am-6pm. However, some working outside these hours may be requested, depending on the needs of the people you will be supporting. Work life balance will be taken into consideration and individual needs can be discussed with line managers.
The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate:
- Their own personal (not family related) experience of homelessness and/or problem alcohol/drug use.
- A passion for supporting vulnerable people, with strong previous experience of working successfully in a similar role, and good knowledge of drug and alcohol issues including harm reduction models.

This is important because we recognise that the legislative disclosure processes can be personally and professionally challenging and we aim to be trauma informed in our recruitment processes.

Team Leader
Location:Aberfeldy Village
Salary: £34,680 per annum
Hours: Full time
Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract
Introduction
The mission of our client is to invest in the local community in Aberfeldy, Tower Hamlet, backing local people to lead on exciting ways to make it a better place to live. The area is going through big changes, and they want to make sure that everyone in Aberfeldy can benefit from these. They want regeneration to bring real wins for the community, rather than passing people by. They believe the only way they can achieve this is by working together as a community to share ideas, skills and talents and take advantage of opportunities for them all to gain from.
Their vision is to build a strong and confident community. They have the following priorities:
• People: They will invest in their people to become active in local life, taking the lead on activities and events that bring people together and build community spirit. They will invest in their young people to have a brighter future
• Places: A community needs vibrant, authentic, and welcoming places for people to meet and mix. They will conserve and develop the places where they mix with their neighbours, build new relationships, and develop a sense of belonging to Aberfeldy
• Power: They will support Aberfeldy residents to influence the changes taking place in the area and make sure that the future benefits everybody. They will do this by connecting with local organisations, supporting them to build their capacity and developing the community’s voice to be heard on an equal footing with developers, the local council, and other agencies
Our client has been up and running since 2011. At that time, 150 areas were chosen to become a part of the scheme, each receiving £1m to be used by 2026, to invest in the area and community to help make it a better place to live and work, as the community decided. Areas were chosen because they were recognised as localities of need that had missed out on funding over many years. What makes them different to many other community programmes is that all decisions on how to invest this money are made directly by local people.
Purpose of the role:
To develop and deliver an integrated and effective programme of work in Aberfeldy, in line with the mission, vision and strategic plan developed by the our clients Resident Board, specifically:
• Further develop understanding of what activities, support and opportunities people in Aberfeldy see as important for their health and wellbeing.
• Further develop the ABL service to ensure it responds to what matters to the local community, working with members of the community to co-design, develop, deliver, commission and review resident-led activities and initiatives both in the ABL space and other local community venues.
• Develop the ABL space to be a place that fully lives up to the ambition of it being somewhere for people to go and feel welcome and comfortable, a space to which people will want to return and be a part of – a space for the community.
• Motivate, inspire, and lead the ABL team, volunteers, and sessional workers to deliver the service.
• Expand the reach of ABL and ensure members of the local community are aware of it, what’s its purpose is and what it offers.
• Manage the operational delivery of the service, including planning, scheduling, financial management, reporting.
• Pro-actively link in with the various colleagues at their Centre, including the Delivery Manager (line manager), colleagues in their Welcome Hub, the Impact team, the Income and Marketing team, the Finance team, and the Facilities and - IT team to optimise, share learning and obtain support.
• Manage the relationship with the ABL Residents Board, keeping them informed on a regular basis on progress, challenges, developments; support them to make decisions as and when required and make required adjustments to the plan as and when.
• Further develop relationships with relevant stakeholders, including, amongst others, other local community venues, other local delivery organisations, housing associations, faith groups, health professionals.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement by ensuring the team is engaged in the implementation and analysis of their outcomes framework.
• Demonstrate the value of ABL and share its learning and expertise with external audiences. This will involve working closely with the ABL board, the Local Trust Team, the wider team as well as other relevant stakeholders.
• Develop plans for the legacy of ABL beyond the funding.

Citizens UK
Citizens UK is a people power alliance of diverse local communities working together for the common good. Our mission is to develop leaders, strengthen civic organisations and make change. Our 550 member communities are deeply rooted in their local areas and connect every day to the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. Through the method of community organising we enable people experiencing powerlessness to develop their leadership and come together with the power and strategy to make change.
This leads to hundreds of neighbourhood improvements - from zebra crossings outside primary schools to renovated public toilets in cemeteries. And it leads to some of the biggest campaign impacts in the UK, such as winning over £2 billion of wages through the UK Living Wage campaign, securing a legal cap on the cost of credit to control exploitative lending, and ending the detention of children for immigration purposes. We enable local campaigns to grow into large-scale social change projects such as the Living Wage Foundation, Parents and Communities Together (PACT), Sponsor Refugees, and Refugees for Justice, that form an integral part of our theory of change. The most prominent of these is the rapidly growing Living Wage Foundation with a network of over 14,000 accredited Living Wage Employers across the UK.
South London Citizens
South London Citizens is a thriving chapter with a growing team of ~18 organisers and project staff. We are building the power of communities in South London through borough alliances (in Greenwich, Lewisham, Southwark, Lambeth, Wandsworth, Merton, Croydon) and the wider region by developing community leadership and supporting people to take action on what matters most to them. Over the past three years, we have worked in partnership with mental health trusts to deliver a pioneering organising project, South London Listens (SLL), to prevent mental ill-health, and more recently with wider South London NHS leaders to take action on a range of issues (from low wages to housing conditions) that impact our communities’ health.
Purpose
We are looking for two Associate Organisers to join our thriving and dynamic team in South London building the power of local communities. These roles will support local organising, and have a specific focus on health and living wage organising.
In this exciting and innovative role, you will work with community organisations, including faith institutions, schools, universities, and community groups. Your primary responsibility will be to
1. build ‘Be Well’ teams to support the wellbeing of their communities, as part of the South London Listens partnership;
2. find and develop new community leaders within their organisations; and
3. take action to tackle the social determinants of health inequality (e.g. lack of migration status, racism, housing conditions, low wages and precarious work).
One or both of the roles will also include specific organising with low paid workers to lead the fight for a real living wage and living hours.
With your passion, energy, and commitment to democracy, you will support communities to build the power they need to win justice and make a real and lasting impact. Join us in the fight for a healthier and more equitable future for South London.
A central focus of an Associate Organiser is their own development: learning the craft of Community Organising under the guidance of an experienced Community Organiser. An Associate Organiser is working towards becoming a competent practitioner of the craft of broad-based community organising methodology, and focuses on the building of relational power, the recruitment and retention of dues-paying institutions, the development of leaders, the strengthening of member institutions, leader-led public actions, and the winning of systemic change.
