The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be a key member of HCPT’s Senior Leadership Team, responsible for the effective delivery and high performance of all operational and business support aspects of the charity’s work. This includes oversight of the quality and efficiency aspects of all that we do in planning and execution of pilgrimages, safeguarding, compliance, finance, HR, and infrastructure. The COO will ensure that HCPT’s operations are safe, efficient, and aligned with our Catholic ethos and mission of inclusion and care, and that our performance is optimised to deliver excellence, which is:  THE BEST pilgrimage experience we can offer as defined and measured by our beneficiaries and volunteers.

This is a senior role in volunteer-led organisation and as such the successful postholder will be required to exercise flexibility with evening and weekend work to meet the business needs of the charity, given the availability of our volunteer leaders who have professional commitments during the day.

WHO WE ARE

Animal Equality is an international animal protection organisation working with society, governments and companies to end cruelty to farmed animals. Animal Equality has offices in the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Brazil and India.

Animal Equality releases investigative materials captured from inside factory farms and slaughterhouses, exposing the conditions that farmed animals face around the world. We publish our findings on television, in newspapers and online. We routinely secure mainstream media coverage, including on the BBC, ITV, Sky News, The Times, The Guardian, The New York Times and many more.

Animal Equality also advocates for political change. Our current campaigns include a UK ban on foie gras imports, increased enforcement of existing animal protection laws, legal protections for farmed fish, and Government subsidies for transitioning towards a plant-based food system.

We focus on farmed animals because of the scale and severity of the issue. More than a billion animals are confined and killed for human consumption every year in the UK. Farmed animals also often suffer in some of the worst ways: pigs typically endure painful mutilations, many chickens die of heart attacks, fish are confined in underwater cages, and some farmed animals are victims of deliberate abuse and neglect. But the problem is solvable! By utilising effective campaigning strategies, Animal Equality is having an impact for animals around the world and building a future where all animals are respected and protected and are no longer exploited for human consumption.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a highly organised, detail-oriented Operations Officer to play a central role in ensuring the smooth running of Animal Equality UK’s internal operations and supporter services.

This is a varied role covering administration, finance, data management, supporter care, and event coordination. You will be the first point of contact for many of our supporters and stakeholders, providing excellent service while supporting team members across all departments.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, solutions-focused, and comfortable balancing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. You will have a ‘can-do’ attitude and a calm and professional demeanour, thrive on problem-solving, and take pride in ensuring that systems and processes run efficiently behind the scenes.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Culture and internal support: Act as a culture ambassador, upholding Animal Equality’s values of professionalism, resilience, accountability, and compassion. Strengthen communication between teams and ensure effective use of project management tools. Identify and lead process improvements with guidance from the Operations Manager.
• Supporter and donor care: Serve as the first point of contact for supporter queries via phone, email, post, and social media. Provide excellent donor support, including thanking donors, resolving payment issues, and sending mailings. Maintain supporter and volunteer records accurately in CRM systems and ensure compliance with GDPR.
• Finance and reporting: Process expenses, supplier payments, and support budget forecasting. Assist with Gift Aid claims, monthly data uploads, and finance reports. Prepare scheduled reports and presentations to track progress against objectives.
• Team processes: Support recruitment processes, including application handling, interview coordination, and onboarding/offboarding schedules. Ensure smooth induction for new staff and manage equipment, training resources, and access.
• Events and operations: Assist with the organisation of internal training, team meet-ups, and supporter events. Support health and safety measures for team members and volunteers at peaceful protests, undertaking risk assessments and first aid training. Manage stock and campaign materials, fulfil supporter requests, and oversee mailing logistics.
• Data and systems: Conduct database cleansing and maintain accurate supporter, volunteer, and executive records.
• Represent Animal Equality’s culture: Support Animal Equality’s life-saving work by producing high-quality output, embracing and representing the organisation’s culture principles proudly at all times, and supporting our philanthropic efforts.
• Support with other ad hoc duties, as requested by your line manager.

You will be based remotely in the UK. In addition to monthly meet-ups, some travel within the UK may be required for demonstrations, meetings, and events. While not common, occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary to support campaigning activities. Any additional hours worked and agreed with your Manager can be reclaimed as TOIL.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

Beacon is now in its second decade and has grown substantially over the last three years, including a rebrand and expansion into international projects. To support this growth, we are seeking a highly organised, proactive, and intuitive Admin & Operations Officer to help ensure the smooth running of our daily activities and core functions.

This varied role spans many aspects of our work, from administration and resource management to supporting the systems and tools that keep Beacon working efficiently. You’ll work across the charity, supporting our executive leadership, projects teams, and fundraising activities, as well as and ensuring colleagues have the information and resources they need to deliver for our beneficiaries.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the charity and in supporting senior staff. As you settle into the role, you’ll have opportunities to develop skills in areas such as financial management, executive support, relationship management, stewardship, or project logistics, depending on your interests and the charity’s needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone at an early stage of their career, with full training and support provided. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Organisational administration

• Lead on day-to-day operational processes to ensure the efficient running of the organisation.
• Provide executive support to the CEO and COO, including diary coordination, scheduling, and meeting logistics.
• Oversee internal financial processes, including processing expenses and invoices, documenting charity income and outgoings, ensuring accurate record keeping, and liaising with our external accounting team.
• Coordinate team activities such as strategy days, team-building events, and the annual Christmas party.
• Support HR-related processes such as managing staff anniversaries, birthdays, departures, and basic record-keeping.
• Act as liaison between the CEO and Board of Trustees as required.
• Collaborate with building management to ensure smooth operation of office facilities.

Fundraising administration

• Provide administrative support for funding applications and reports, including document preparation and submission.
• Monitor timelines and deadlines for all fundraising-related commitments, ensuring requirements are met.
• Maintain accurate fundraising records, keeping donor and income information up to date in our systems.
• Liaise with fundraising partners, sponsors, and donors as required.

N.B. The fundraising aspect of this role is focused on providing administrative and logistical support. This is not a fundraising position, and applicants are not expected to be responsible for income generation.

Team-wide support

• Monitor and respond to incoming enquiries via phone, email, and the Contact Us form, ensuring timely and professional communication.
• Process and respond to volunteer applications, maintaining accurate records and liaising with applicants as required.
• Manage organisational resources, including internal supplies and external materials, monitoring stock levels and coordinating reorders.
• Provide office management support to ensure a well-functioning, well-resourced working environment.
• Organise team travel arrangements for internal and external events.

Occasional duties

• Provide support in the lead-up to major events with preparation of materials as required.
• Support on-the-day delivery of major events alongside other team members.
• Represent the charity at external events and exhibitions.

Hours and place of work

• This is a full-time role to be fulfilled over a 35-hour week, ideally within the working hours of Mon-Fri, 9:30am–5:30pm, with flexibility as required.
• This is a hybrid role with one day a week in our shared office space in London (Better Space, 127 Farringdon Road, London EC1R 3DA), the travel costs of which must be covered by the individual. We are open to discussing this arrangement further to accommodate individual needs and preferences.
• Further UK travel will be required on occasion, the costs of which would be covered by Clore Social Leadership.

Terms, pay and benefits

• This is a permanent contract.
• Salary for this role will be ca. £55,000 p/a depending on experience.
• The post holder is entitled to 25 days of annual leave, in addition to UK statutory holidays.
• The office is closed for one week during the winter festive period (25-31 December), providing an additional three days of annual leave in addition to the above allocation.
• You have the option to join our contributory pension scheme. The employer's contribution is 3% with a minimum employee contribution of 5%.

Plumstead Community Law Centre is a free specialist legal advice charity located in central Woolwich in South East London. We provide specialist legal advice and advocacy in the areas of immigration, welfare benefits and employment People can access our services via telephone or email, and through the Advice Hub outreach services we attend in local community centres. In 2024 over 1,400 local people accessed our advice and representation services, resulting in a range of financial and non-financial benefits.

This Managing Director and Senior Solicitor role involves assuming the charity’s management from our interim CEO, who has established strong systems and secured new funding for the further strengthening of the charity. ​The Law Centre Managing Director and Senior Solicitor (“MD/SS”) is responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the Law Centre. Working within appropriate delegations from the Board, the post holder ensures that the Law Centre provides quality assured services that meet its charitable purposes. Job purpose

The Executive and Operations Coordinator provides essential administrative, operational, and executive support to enhance the effectiveness of Toynbee Hall’s Advice Services directorate. This role combines high-level executive assistance including managing the diaries of the Managing Director and Deputy Director of Advice Services, coordinating communications, and preparing for meetings with operational support across finance, HR, onboarding, and general administration. Working closely with the finance team, HR, and advice teams, the Executive and Operations Support Officer raises and tracks purchase orders, processes invoice, reconciles credit cards, and ensures contracts and approvals are completed on time. They also provide flexible support across the directorate, assisting with logistics, meeting documentation, and crossteam coordination as needed. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Advice Services, this role plays a key part in ensuring seamless operations and enabling senior leaders to focus on strategic priorities and service delivery.

• Serve as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders seeking to connect with the Advice Services directorate.
• Manage the distribution of information to staff and stakeholders to ensure consistent and clear communication.

6. Event Coordination:

• Help plan and execute internal and external events, including workshops, conferences, and staff meetings.
• Handle all event-related arrangements such as guest lists, venue, catering, and technology needs.

7. Ad-hoc Support:  

• Provide flexible support to other senior managers and teams within Toynbee Hall as needed, including during special projects and peak periods.
• Coordinate and organise additional meetings and manage any emergent administrative needs.
