Duties and key responsibilities:
Office Maintenance
- Oversee the general maintenance of the office.
- Manage office supplies by tracking office inventory and replenishing supplies including kitchen and stationery.
- Ensure the office and meeting rooms are well-maintained.
- Manage Sarcoma UK storage, ensuring it is fit for purpose.
- Liaise with office contractors and service providers to ensure the office runs efficiently.
- Assist with office refurbishments, expansions, and relocations.
Administration
- Be the first point of contact for all enquiries to our telephone switchboard and info@ mailbox, responding in a timely manner to all enquiries and delegating across the team where relevant.
- Manage the daily postal system including opening post and recording donations on the finance spreadsheet.
- Managing deliveries to the office and organising couriers.
- Organise travel and accommodation bookings across the whole charity including fundraising events.
- Organise travel, meetings and staff attendance at events including the British Sarcoma Group conference.
- Make any bookings and arrangements for the team that involve financial transactions, for example booking travel, conferences, training courses, flowers for supporters and event purchases.
- Provide meeting room management, including bookings and catering.
- Carry out ad hoc administrative tasks for other departments when requested e.g. fundraising and information send outs during busy periods or absence.
Health & Safety
- Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures, maintaining a safe working environment in the office. This
- Regular health and safety inspections of the office and workstations.
- Carry out regular DSE tests
- Arranging regular PAT tests
- Cary out fire risk assessments (training will be provided)
- First aid assistance and maintain the first aid supplies (training will be provided)
- Review and update the health and safety policy.
Other
- Support the operations team when required, this will include finance, database, and HR functions.
- The post holder will be working in a developing environment, and they will therefore be required to undertake other appropriate duties as necessary for the efficient operation of Sarcoma UK.

About EFA
English for Action provides free, participatory, and empowering English language classes (ESOL) for migrants in London. Our classes are spaces to build community and support students to organise collectively around issues like employment and housing rights. Our work currently supports around 500 adult migrants across London. NEF offers generous terms and conditions, including a salary in the range of £78-87k per annum for a 32-hour working week that can be worked flexibly. Most colleagues work two days a week (usually Tuesdays and Wednesdays) in our office in central London, but that can be adjusted up or down depending on preferences. I applied to join NEF because it is one of the UK’s largest and most-respected progressive think tanks, with a nearly 40 years track record of producing radical ideas and influencing policymaking to deliver a more just and sustainable world. From global debt justice to retrofitting homes, from the Happy Planet Index to campaigning for a 4-day working week, from promoting local economic development to championing the Green New Deal, NEF has been arguing for an economics as if people and planet mattered.
Since starting at NEF in January 2024, I have been impressed by the quality of our work and people, the influence we have on policymakers and opinion-formers, and the respect we are held in. That said, from climate change to rising inequality, the challenges the world faces are immense. With the incoming Chair and colleagues, we are embarking on a strategy refresh to identify where and how NEF can make the greatest difference. I am confident that we will have a clear and compelling strategy by the second half of 2024.
I believe this is an excellent time to join the think tank sector. The world needs radical new ideas and workable solutions. Community Advice Works is an established community charity based in New Cross in South
East London. As the only charity in the London Borough of Lewisham offering a general
drop-in advice service, we are a critical source of support to vulnerable residents. We have

Events coordinator

Job Purpose: To support the CHS Alliance secretariat to ensure it delivers professional external events that meet the needs of our key audiences and advance our strategic goals, on time and within budget. Primary focus of this role will be the coordination and logistical management of the General Assembly in December 2024.
Background: The Events Coordinator role sits within the Network Engagement and Communications department and works closely with staff across the CHS Alliance, including those working on CHS outreach, HR/Governance and the Executive Director, on events organisation and delivery.
Main Responsibilities:
Event coordination
1. Coordinate the team and workplan to support smooth and timely delivery of key CHS Alliance events, with particular focus on the General Assembly (GA) taking place in Bangkok 5-6 December 2024.
2. Prepare and attend event working group meetings (e.g. set agenda, organise doodle polls, book conference rooms, take notes, etc.)
3. Overseeing and updating the event workplan (e.g. gannt chart), flagging upcoming milestones and deadlines to event lead
Event logistics
4. Assist in identifying service providers by providing quotes and completing any other tasks requested by the line manager or event lead.
5. Procure supplies for event and ensure all material needed on site is prepared and up to date.
6. Follow up with the venues; liaise with the venue prior to, during and after the events.
7. Assist with all logistical aspects linked to catering, refreshments, room equipment (incl. audio visual), stationery, signs and identification (badges, etc.), and trip booking (hotels, flights, visa) where required, etc.
Communications & IT
8. Set up events on relevant platform (e.g. Zoom, CHS Alliance website)
