As Business Insights Officer, you will:

• build relationships with stakeholders in every division, not just gathering performance metrics, but using thoughtful enquiry to build trust and understand challenges, ensuring the ‘right’ information is being gathered and monitored,
• collate data into a regular management report, analysing findings to identify trends, risks, challenges and opportunities, and surfacing these to leadership,
• ensure findings are accessible and user-friendly, using your understanding of the organisation and its strategic goals to articulate findings in a meaningful and impactful way,
• continuously improve and critique findings and approaches, working curiously and inquisitively to challenge the status quo to help the organisation flourish,
• be passionate about our mission, and particularly the ability to use insights to optimise the work we do and improve performance.

Could this be you?
To thrive in this role, you’ll fundamentally need strong data analysis skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends and generate and communicate actionable insights. While a background in technical BI skills isn’t essential, we’re looking for candidates who understand the importance of business insights and how data visualisation and dashboards can support this. You’ll be working towards some critical milestones and deadlines, so the ability to work calmly under pressure and stay organised is key. You’ll also be a confident communicator, who is able to establish trust, have meaningful conversations and convey the importance and impact of strong business insights on organisational performance. Are you an experienced and knowledgeable programme manager with a passion for supporting charities and under-represented communities to advocate for change?

Media Trust is looking for an experienced programme manager to lead on the delivery of two new communications capacity-building programmes - one focusing on charities tackling health inequalities and another focusing on people affected by the No Recourse to Public Fund (NRPF) immigration rule. Both programmes are aimed at enabling participants to safely and effectively engage with the media and advocate for change. You will be working directly with charities, communities and individual participants on both these programmes. You will also work with external trainers and media industry volunteers to deliver the training and related support. 

Each programme will involve recruiting a cohort of storytellers, working with a series of external trainers to deliver workshops around understanding and engaging with the media and facilitating peer support workshops. You may also be required to lead small roundtables or convene meetings with sector partners as required. 

Media Trust will be partnering with charities working on health inequalities and supporting migrants to deliver this work, including recruiting storytellers from across our networks and partner organisations as programme participants.

You will be responsible for designing and agreeing the delivery calendar with our funders and other key partners.You will also manage the recruitment for, and delivery of, these programmes. The outline training content has already been agreed - this role will involve working with trainers to ensure content is relevant to the needs of the cohorts and the objectives of each programme. You will also design and facilitate a series of monthly peer support sessions to support participants’ learning on the programmes. You will also manage impact evaluation for the programmes including designing and collecting responses to pre- and post-programme surveys from participants and sharing insights and learning from the programmes to help Media Trust design new work in these areas. 

You will also support with other programmes and activity across Media Trust’s Charity Services team as required.

Please note this role is remote-based with regular events and meetings in London.

Key responsibilities 

Programme Management and Evaluation 

• Programme Management: Oversee the launch and delivery of the programmes ensuring all activity runs to schedule and on budget 

• Training Coordination: Plan, recruit and deliver training for programme participants and liaise with trainers, ensuring content is well-suited to the needs of the cohorts and the programmes’ objectives 

• Participant Engagement and support: Recruit and engage programme participants, encourage participation and retention, support any accessibility needs and ensure the training aligns with participants’ needs and expectations 

• Peer support: Deliver and facilitate monthly peer supports across each programme. Run safe and well-structured peer support spaces, which serve to building communities of mutual support and solidify learning from the training

• Safeguarding: Lead on safeguarding across the programmes, ensuring Media Trust’s safeguarding policies are adhered to and the wellbeing and safety of participants is protected

• Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting: Manage the collection and analysis of programme data and insights, ensuring impact is evidenced with high-quality data and compelling case studies

• Budget Management: Manage the programmes’ budgets, providing accurate and up-to-date financial reporting

Partnerships: 

• Cultivate Relationships: Build and maintain meaningful relationships with partner organisations, charities, media industry volunteers and wider sector partners 

• Insights for New Programmes: Share latest trends and programme-related insights to help Media Trust secure new funders/partners for additional communications capacity-building programmes for charities

As Philanthropy Manager, you will support the development of this high-value programme, taking ownership of a growing portfolio of donors and prospects while playing a key role in shaping a programme that is still at a relatively early stage of maturity in the UK.

Reporting to the Director of UK Fundraising, you will manage a portfolio of c.120–150 donors and prospects, primarily across mid-level giving, with the opportunity to deepen relationships and grow supporters into higher-value philanthropy over time. You will take a hands-on, relationship-led approach to fundraising, building meaningful engagement and delivering long-term income growth.

This role offers genuine scope to help build and evolve Smile Train’s high-value fundraising approach in the UK. You will contribute to developing ways of working, testing engagement strategies and helping to shape the case for support, working closely with colleagues in the UK and globally.

As Philanthropy Manager, you will:

• Manage and develop a portfolio of c.120–150 donors and prospects, primarily at mid-value level, with potential to grow into major giving
• Build strong, long-term relationships with supporters through tailored cultivation, solicitation and stewardship
• Identify and engage new prospects, developing a sustainable pipeline of future high-value donors
• Develop and deliver individual engagement plans to retain and upgrade donors over time
• Prepare high-quality proposals, reports and communications to support donor engagement
• Support the development of Smile Train’s high-value case for support and fundraising approach in the UK
• Work closely with the Director of UK Fundraising and global colleagues to align activity and maximise opportunities
• Contribute to events, donor visits and wider engagement activity
• Maintain accurate records and support effective pipeline and performance management

Essential skills and experience:

• Experience of relationship fundraising, with exposure to major donors, mid-value giving and/or trusts & foundations
• A track record of building and developing donor relationships, with the ability to grow income over time
• Confidence in managing a portfolio and delivering personalised donor engagement
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop compelling proposals
• A proactive, organised and hands-on approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team

Desirable:

• Experience of working within a developing or growing high-value fundraising programme
• Exposure to international development, global health or a similarly mission-led environment
• Experience working within a global or matrix organisation

What does the role involve?

•Write compelling insight reports for internal and external audiences.

•Generating evidence, insights and research, including analysis of existing data (evidence reviews, secondary analysis), primary quantitative research & comparative research between nations.
