We're looking for a highly organised, independent and practical individual to join our small team as General Manager. You’ll oversee our core operations, provide support across our innovative programme, and help us to develop longer-term sustainability.

The General Manager will keep core operations running smoothly – across HR, finance and communications – as well as developing the company’s systems and policies to adapt to current and future needs. You’ll also be a key pillar of Coney’s culture and internal communications, fostering a supportive and empowering environment so that staff and freelancers can thrive.

Responsibilities:

HR & Operations

● Manage Coney’s operations, resources and materials to ensure our activities and processes are high-quality, fit for purpose and well-managed.

● Support the Directors to engender positive staff relations and good communication throughout the company, those representing it and its networks.

● Oversee Coney’s remote-working and office systems, including IT systems, schedules and other resources, ensuring that they are fit for purpose and cost-effective.

● Manage Coney’s statutory obligations with Companies House, the Charities Commission and other bodies and regulatory authorities, with support from the Directors.

● Maintain regular communication with Coney’s Trustees, ensuring that Board meetings, minutes, reports and information are prepared effectively and on time. 

Financial

● Manage Coney’s day-to-day financial systems, including making bank payments and managing invoices receivable, supported by the Marketing & Admin Officer.

● Reconcile Coney’s bank accounts and input all financial activity into Quickbooks (including income & expenditure, credit cards, expenses, invoices payable, payments received) against the correct budget lines. 

● Run payroll (including sending payslips and other pay documents, scheduling salary payments and reporting to HMRC) and ensure pensions, PAYE taxes and National Insurance are calculated and paid on time.

● Create and submit quarterly VAT returns using Quickbooks

Stakeholder Management & Fundraising

● Work alongside the JCEOs to maintain high level contact and dialogue with Coney’s key stakeholders.

● Manage Coney’s Friends scheme and support effective communication with funders.

● Alongside the rest of the core team, identify opportunities for fundraising, commercial projects and consultancy, building relationships and contributing to funding proposals as required.

Marketing & Communications

● Support the Marketing & Admin Officer and Executive Programme Director / JCEO to prepare and execute a marketing and communications plan – strategically positioning Coney’s work across communities and sectors.

● Support the Marketing & Admin Officer to ensure regular communication with Coney networks (newsletters, social media and other relationships) and produce effective communication and ticketing systems for events and projects as required.

We’re looking for a Challenge Events Manager to join our Sports and Challenge Events Team managing an innovative and evolving portfolio of mass participation events, including the mighty London Marathon.

You’ll join a driven team committed to growing our challenge events portfolio and delivering standout supporter experiences, whether they’re jumping out of a plane or crossing that iconic London Marathon finish line. You’ll be marketing a range of tantalising mass participation events to supporters and devising engaging and inspiring stewardship journeys to make their Young Lives vs Cancer experience memorable.

We are seeking an experienced MEAL Manager to support the development of our programmes. The successful candidate will be fluent in Arabic and English, with significant experience in MEAL processes and systems. They will have experience in providing MEAL training and designing primary data collection tools.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Developing and maintaining MAP’s MEAL systems - 50% 

• Work with the UK Director of Programmes to develop MAP’s online MEAL database. Support the testing of the new system and its roll out to MAP staff and partners. 

• Work with MAP programme staff to develop high quality MEAL tools for each project. 

• Work with MAP programme staff to ensure that data is collected, compiled, checked for its quality and completeness in compliance with MAP and donors’ standards;

FearFree delivers services across the South West for victims and perpetrators of domestic abuse and victims of sexual violence. We provide responsive, victim focused, and trauma informed support and this post will be fundamental to ensuring service users, stakeholders and partners experience this in our daily delivery.

Based within our Devon Service, which delivers domestic abuse services across Devon, the IDVA Team Manager manages our high risk victim/survivor service provision. This includes line management responsibility for our experienced team of IDVAs.

Our IDVA Team provide independent support and advice to high risk victims of domestic abuse, with a clear focus on reducing risk and increasing safety. The IDVA Team work within a multi-agency system to provide a proactive, person-centred independent service for victims of domestic abuse, empowering choice through informed decision making.

The key tasks include:

• Having responsibility for the provision of domestic abuse support to high risk adult victims across Devon.
• Line managing the IDVAs, providing case supervision, support and direction.
• Maintaining close working relationships with MARAC (multi-agency risk assessment conference) to ensure the smooth running of MARAC.

1. Key responsibilities:

• To provide leadership, direction and support to the IDVAs including leading in recruitment, training, scheduling and supervising staff, ensuring excellent management of the team delivering domestic abuse support to high risk service users.
• On a day to day basis oversee the performance of the IDVA Team, acting as the main point of contact for the staff.
• To line manage the team of IDVAs, providing case management supervision, line management support, allocation of cases and ensuring all staff are supported to meet their full potential.

• To lead on reporting outcomes linked to the IDVA Team and the support of high risk adult victims of domestic abuse.

2. Relationships and partnerships

• Proactively build relationships with the wider statutory and voluntary partners across Devon, with a focus on supporting high risk adult victims of domestic abuse.
• Actively network across the operating area to build the charity’s reputation and harness support for the organisation. 

3. General

• Work closely with the Devon Service Manager and other Team Managers to ensure that all victims and survivors of abuse receive a high standard of support, whilst being appropriately focused on risk and safeguarding.
• To have a clear understanding of risk: assessing individual need, to ensure that the appropriate strand of support within the Devon service is accessed.
•  To provide statistical analysis as required by the Devon Service Manager.
• Undertake role relevant training to maintain specialist knowledge, keep up-to date with legislation, information and best practice relating to domestic abuse and other related work to maintain Continued Professional Development.
• Attend team meetings, monthly supervision and participate in organisational data collection system.
• Contribute to effective team working with a flexible and pro-active approach, including cover for other team members’ holidays and sickness.
• Work within organisational policies and procedures at all times.
• Undertake all statutory and mandatory training, as required by the organisation.

Then this could be the role for you. At the Digital Poverty Alliance, we are looking for our new Development Manager. We need someone who can lead our development function whilst working alongside our CEO, managing a range of fundraising initiatives whilst also using sales techniques to raise awareness of our Industry Forum and school Donation Management Service (DMS).

This is an exciting, high profile and fast-paced role, joining our small team and working alongside partners, schools and our wider stakeholders to effect real change for people. You will report directly to the Chief Executive.

This is an exciting time to join us. Our work splits into two main areas – the first is advocacy and research, where we seek partnerships that will allow us to grow our nationwide campaigns and calls for action, as set out in the DPA’s National Delivery Plan.  The second, a growth area for us, is delivery of programmes that help real people – such as our Tech4 suite of initiatives, which support a range of beneficiaries, but commonly young people and families, to access kit, connectivity, skills and support, and our Donation Management Service which works on a school by school basis to ensure parental donations support year groups gain class-wide one to one devices.

The Development Manager will work with the CEO and our team to facilitate this growth in impact, understanding and influence and encourage new partnerships, while ensuring our donors and supporters feel informed and engaged.

As an initiative, the DPA aims to work through partners in delivering to our core mission and, as such, we retain only a small core team. As such, you’ll lead on the fundraising function and the DMS relationships, but work within a highly supportive team where income targets are shared.

Whilst the role is remote based, you will regularly need to attend in-person meetings and events in central London (daytime and evening), as well as undertaking travel across the UK. This will include supporting set up at conferences and events, and may include overnight stays.  A driving licence is not essential.

You will be ready to “roll up your sleeves” and get involved in other projects at times, as part of a small and dedicated team, and take on administrative and logistical tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Writing grant applications, bids and proposals to corporates, public sector and third sector organisations as part of formal and informal fundraising application processes.
• Secure new memberships to the Digital Poverty Alliance Industry Forum, a corporate membership scheme for businesses seeking to take action on digital poverty, working with the CEO and colleagues leading on policy and public affairs.
• Lead on bringing in new client schools for the DMS, growing the network of schools and families supported by and supporting this programme.
• Lead the account management process for schools who are part of our Donation Management Service (DMS) programme, retaining existing customers.
• Work with CEO and SMT to create and maintain strong fundraising partnerships with large and small organisations key to our work.
• Work with the CEO to spot new opportunities for initiatives with an eye to developing new corporate partnerships and sponsorships, whilst working within the resources of a small organisation.
• Identifying grant routes, commissioning opportunities, potential consultancy clients and donor opportunities, including prospect research.
• Iterate our fundraising strategy for increasing income, including developing new ideas to drive revenue.
• Provide support to the CEO who manages the largest strategic partnerships.
• Contribute to marketing, PR, social media and related communications activities in relation to partner activities and digital fundraising, including leading the marketing strategy for the DMS.
• Prepare high quality collateral and assets to support partnership working, including presentations and reports.
• Work with colleagues to role model best practice in partnership development.
• Project manage initiatives related to fundraising, using recognised tools and techniques.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the digital poverty landscape, including across policy, research and interventions, to inform partner development.

NB: This role will require attending meetings in London and travel across the UK, and may include occasional evening work or overnight stays.  As part of a small team, this will include attending conferences, exhibiting on behalf of the DPA, and supporting other events.

Together, the three postholders provide expert advice to our housing, therapeutic, and support and advice services, aligned to our service thresholds and to ensure compliance with regulatory and legal standards.

Representation Manager

We are recruiting for a Representation Manager to be the Department Manager of the Representation team, and to run our Academic Representation System, in collaboration and partnership with UWE Bristol!

The Representation Manager is also the organisational lead for Democracy and Governance here at The Students’ Union at UWE. This includes our annual Elections, supporting elected presidents and part time officers, keeping up to date on current policy and the constitution, and making recommendations for change to the Director of Engagement.

The Representation Manager works closely with student leaders and representatives to deepen partnerships and develop strategies to lobby or influence decision makers to achieve policy change related to the academic experience. The person in this role will also manage a number of key stakeholder relationships, particularly with academic College and support staff, so you’ll be an effective communicator and able to produce high quality reports. 

The Representation Manager will be responsible for effectively managing the three Representation Coordinators in post, leading the department to develop, facilitate and support the system of academic student representation and deliver and showcase impact. With the support of the Representation Manager, the Representation Coordinators will support, develop and enable a network of over 1,000 student representatives, a core part of our Representation system.

You’ll have experience of coordinating, developing, or managing successful projects, you could have background in developing policy, and/or engaging with customers and stakeholders to receive feedback and making changes as a result. You will know how to collaborate with different people, building strong and effective relationships. You’re an effective project manager who can develop and oversee structures and processes and can bring creativity and ideas to problem solving.

Being a people manager here at The Students’ Union at UWE will involve using our people excellence tools to enable staff to feel supported and empowered during their employee lifecycle to achieve their objectives and results.
