Main purpose of post
As the Operations Assistant you will be supporting the Operations Manager in
delivering and maintaining effective operational function at the charity.
Including but not exclusively, Health & Safety, Premises, Facilities, Vehicle
Management, and IT Services.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking to develop their
knowledge of operations, risk management and policy writing with scope to

Key Responsibilities
Operational Support
 Act as the first point of contact for premises, facilities, IT and Estates
issues across all Weston Park Cancer Charity locations.
 Assist the Operations Manager in maintaining a secure and organised
premises and facilities, which ensure colleagues, volunteers and visitors
are safe and experience a welcoming environment.
 Support the Operations Manager in the successful delivery of the Annual
Operations plan.
 Provide administrative support to the Operations Manager and take
minutes in operations-related working groups.
 Support with updating operational policies and procedures.
 Act as a Charity Data Protection Officer (DPO), alongside the Operations
Manager - following relevant training, to promote a strong GDPR culture.
 Assist in the coordination of charity vehicle fleet maintenance schedules
and provide breakdown response support.
 Assist in the control and coordination of the use of charity space and
assets, including liaising with contractors and Sheffield Teaching
Hospitals (STH) on relevant matters as required.
 Act as a designated keyholder, responsible for the opening and closing
procedure.
 Manage the operations shared email inbox.

Health & Safety
 Serve as the first point of contact for all Health & Safety matters,
including incidents and accidents, ensuring accurate recording and
reporting.
 Provide operational and administrative support on all Health & Safety
matters at our sites and external locations (including external events and
the Outreach Service, updating COSHH reports).
 Assist in the procurement, delivery and recording of mandatory staff
training needs.
 Help establish and maintain safe working practices and policies and
undertake basic risk assessments.

Workwear and equipment
 Act as the first point of contact for workwear and equipment requests;
including being responsible for issuing and returning stock, regular stock
checks and ordering stock as required.

Tech Support
 Serve as the first point of contact for general IT enquiries.
 Consult with IT consultants to ensure adherence to processes.
 Work with the Operations Manager to implement processes that
maintain the IT security score.
 Assist in the onboarding and offboarding of employees, including
software licenses, logins, and induction training.
 Serve as lead administrator for key operational software, such as Webex
phone system and Vatix Lone Worker App.

General Administrative Support & Development
 Handle general enquiries from staff, patients, and volunteers efficiently.
 Manage charity postal enquiries.
 Assist the Operations Manager with the procurement of stationery and
consumables.
 Assist the wider team with ad hoc work and undertake small projects
that support the charity's work. e.g. Events, Logistical and Tech Support.

Environmental Advocate
 Work with the Operations Manager to promote environmental
awareness and encourage the charity adopts a green approach (e.g.,
recycling, energy use, carbon footprint).
 Identify and implement actions to reduce environmental impacts, costs,
and/or increase income under the direction of the Operations Manager.

We’re seeking an innovative Head of Research to join our fantastic Support, Research and Influencing Directorate team and help us improve survival for people with pancreatic cancer.

Currently, pancreatic cancer has a five-year survival rate of just 7% due to late diagnosis and a lack of effective treatments. As our Head of Research, you’ll help us work with leading pancreatic cancer experts to develop an innovative strategy to accelerate research into this devastating disease in the UK. Pancreatic Cancer UK invests around £2.5 million in research each year. You’ll lead on developing and delivering our research programme to ensure we invest this money well and fund quality research that will have an impact.

About You 

• You’ll have a strong track record in developing and implementing research strategy that drives impact.
• You’ll take an innovative approach to research activity, learning from others in the community and incorporating new ideas that can accelerate progress in meeting research objectives.
• You’ll have substantial experience in grant award and management processes, including running grant rounds, working with large external committees, governance, peer review, and evaluating the impact of funding schemes.

You will manage proposal submissions to Cord's key donors such as the EU, US State Department, GIZ, SDC, UN Peacebuilding Fund etc. You will be working closely with country teams to design and write proposals based on strong project designs developed in partnership with our local partners.

The role will also operate at a strategic level by managing Cord’s relationships with key donors and shaping how Cord communicates about its programmes and the added-value that Cord brings.

Key Responsibilities

Oversight of the Spear Programme

• As a confident communicator, you will lead group sessions of around 10 young people each, using coaching skills to transform attitudes to their own ability and the workplace, and to raise their awareness and maximise potential in stepping into the world of work
• Prepare and coach group and 1-1 sessions with the Spear Coach
• Ensure the programme is delivered in line with agreed targets, and report KPIs on recruitment, retention and completion of Spear Trainees to Resurgo and the Spear Trust, as well as their ongoing progress and sustainment of work or education

Partnership liaison and relationship management

• Establish the primary local referral agencies and steward relationships with these, overseeing and building a strategy to ensure recruitment of young people onto the Spear programme is effective
• Maintain and develop relationships with local partners to form a strong referral network

Line Management and training

• Manage the Spear Coach, using a coaching approach to invest in their growth and development
• Be line managed by Resurgo on Spear Programme performance and ongoing operations of the centre, and report back on KPIs

Church Community

• The Spear Centre Manager is directly employed by Alive Church, meaning you are part of a vibrant church staff team and submerged in an exciting faith community
• You will be required to establish strong relationships with key people at the church to ensure the engagement and backing of church members and help the Spear Coach to establish a strong presence at the church to build a network of supporters for the Spear programme

Location: You can be based near one of the following office locations - Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool, London, or Newcastle. 

We operate a hybrid model of work i.e. a combination of in-person and remote, with flexible days in the office depending on business need and your preferences. We would typically expect in-office attendance an average of one day per week.  

Your office is where you will usually attend in-person events, training sessions etc. though some travel, to other offices and other locations, will occasionally be expected.

Hours: We are looking for the right candidate and while we envisage this being a full-time role (37.5 hours per week) we are very open to flexible working arrangements such as part-time, compressed hours and/or flexitime.

Occasional/frequent evening or weekend work may be required, for which time off in lieu (TOIL) will be given.

Purpose of the Role: As a key leader within our Partnerships and Income Development team, you will be responsible for driving sustainable income growth through high-impact, strategic and philanthropic partnerships with trusts, foundations and corporate partners.  
 

Reporting to the Head of Partnerships and Income Development, you will lead the stewardship and growth of existing strategic partnerships, including managing a select portfolio of funders. You will also take a proactive approach to identifying, cultivating and securing new funding opportunities to align with income targets and the charity’s strategy.  

Working collaboratively with colleagues across the charity, you will craft compelling cases for support – placing young people’s voices and experiences at the heart of every proposal. In addition, you’ll help to build and nurture our supporter community through initiatives such as payroll giving, individual giving and corporate community fundraising.

Person Specification (Knowledge, skills and experience required)

Fundraising experience

• Demonstrable experience of working in a fundraising role in a charity or similar non-profit organisation  
• Demonstrable experience of stewarding high value partnerships with trusts and foundations and/or corporates  
• Demonstrable experience of writing funding proposals/bids/grant applications and pitching for funding opportunities  

Fundraising knowledge

• Knowledge of fundraising techniques such as prospecting, cultivating, securing and managing partnerships  
• Understanding of good practice in fundraising, including data protection and donor stewardship  
• Understanding of budget creation and income reporting

IT skills 

• Experience of using Microsoft Office, including Excel functions  
• Experience of using or understanding of using CRM software to effectively support fundraising e.g. Salesforce

In Preston, Resurgo is partnering with Preston Minster where Spear acts as a key part of the church’s mission to change the culture of the town by bringing hope to unemployed young people.

Preston Minster’s vision is to play their part in the re-evangelisation of the nation, the revitalisation of the church, and the transformation of society. In 2019 they were sent from Holy Trinity Brompton, London, to help people in Preston find their home, find their purpose and transform their city. A vibrant church in the heart the city centre, with a mission to see lives changed by Jesus. The important stuff 

Salary: £25,000 pro rata, plus defined contribution pension scheme

Hours: Part time, 20 hours per week, between 9.30am – 5.30pm, Monday – Thursday (with some flexibility and occasional evening or weekend work for events such as Spear Celebrations)

Key Responsibilities

Spear Programme

• Lead group sessions of up to 10 young people, using coaching skills to transform their mindsets, and to maximise their potential in stepping into the world of work
• Prepare and deliver coaching sessions on a weekly basis and find creative ways of developing ongoing relationships with Spear Trainees. This includes running application workshops with past Trainees as well as maintaining records and reporting on statistics

Relationship management

• Build and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses, and other organisations
• You will support with job fairs, mock interview days and welcoming external visitors to the centre

Church Community

• The Spear Coach is directly employed by Preston Minster, meaning you are part of a vibrant church staff team and submerged in an exciting faith community
• You will be required to establish strong relationships with key people at the church to ensure the engagement and backing of church members
• Supporting the Centre Manager in ensuring Spear is a key missional feature of the work of the church; this may involve attending church events and speaking at services
   

Centre operations

• Support the wider Spear team and senior leadership team in developing the financial sustainability of Spear Preston e.g. gathering data for funding applications, organising community fundraising events
• Work with relevant members of the ministry team, particularly youth and student ministries to further embed Spear into the life of the church
• Liaise with relevant staff locally on-site issues and work to resolve them as soon as possible, ensuring the office and training rooms are safe and tidy working spaces in line with health and safety policies and safeguarding issues are reported in a timely manner

The role blends fundraising leadership with operational oversight, supporting audience engagement and organisational values. We’re seeking an ambitious and strategic fundraising leader with a strong track record of securing income from grants, sponsorship, and philanthropic sources and a keen eye for detail. Ideally, you’ll bring experience of working on a previous capital campaign (however, this is not essential) and be ready to step into a broader senior leadership role, helping to shape overall organisational culture and strategy. The Individual Giving Officer will work with the Individual and Legacy Manager to provide an exceptional level of stewardship to donors.

The role will work to increase income from a diverse range of products including our online shop, funeral collections, stewardship journeys and individual gifts. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, empathy for those affected by bowel cancer, and a desire to show the impact of donations are all essential. You’ll also be a team player and capable of organising and managing a busy workload.
