Citizens Advice Hammersmith & Fulham (CAHF), part of the national Citizens Advice network, is a thriving local advice organisation that provides information, advice and casework support to 18,000 local people per year. We are recruiting for the brand new role of Early Intervention Training Coordinator.

The Tackling Destitution Together project is a partnership between Citizens Advice Hammersmith and Fulham and Hammersmith and Fulham Foodbank aimed at enabling eff ective early intervention in the borough and focussing on support for local disabled people. The project is a pilot, funded by Citizens Advice and Trussell Trust national bodies for 1 year.

We will do this by; training frontline workers & volunteers on the main issues aff ecting those at risk of poverty and on how to eff ectively navigate systems to resolve these issues. Using training and resources to enhance the conversations held at an early stage and focus on connecting people with information and support before they fall into crisis. Hand holding people through these journeys navigating the system and resolving the root cause of their issues. Embedding research and participation to demonstrate the impact of this approach.

We will know we have succeeded if; our training off er is taken up by those agencies seeing people at crisis trigger points. The agencies we support report improved confi dence to assess and signpost before a crisis. Indicators of crisis, such as food bank referrals, reduce in number. We can demonstrate the impact of hand holding support to prevent people from reaching crisis.

About the Role

The Lead Lawyer - Africa Death Penalty Team is responsible for coordinating Reprieve’s litigation and advocacy in Sub-Saharan Africa. At the moment, the team works on death penalty casework and abolition advocacy in Malawi, Tanzania, and Kenya. 

Our casework includes work on appeals to the Malawi Supreme Court of Appeal in the context of historic denials of a right to appeal and related contextual challenges; large-scale projects, such as the Kenya resentencing project, wherein we support stakeholders to ensure 5,000+ people are able to access a chance at reducing their sentence from death via a new sentence hearing, as well as supporting on individual strategic resentencing cases; and long-term regional projects, such as our strategic litigation before the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, which challenges the mandatory death penalty, torture, and other associated violations of the African Charter. This is an opportunity to join a team that has developed groundbreaking work with great success in getting people off death row, making significant contribution to legal reforms and towards abolition.

Length and Salary

This is a full-time role, on a one-year fixed term contract, with the possibility to extend, subject to funding. The annual salary is £52,088 per annum, less any required deductions for income tax and national insurance. 

This role is based in Reprieve’s London office. Reprieve operates a hybrid working model and we require staff to work two days per week from the London office and the rest of the week from home. Applicants must have the current right to work in the UK, which will be checked prior to interview.

Your presence is important during core office hours, whether remotely or in the office. The Fundraising Executive is responsible for supporting participant registration and income growth within Endurance Events and Friends and Family fundraising.

They will deliver Endurance Stewardship Journeys and represent Movember at third-party endurance events, providing hands-on support to inspire and engage participants. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
● Support the account management of corporate partnerships, delivering first class stewardship, increasing engagement and supporting delivery for maximum potential for Variety
● Research business leads to feed the corporate pipeline and new business approaches, identifying prospects
● Keep partnership account plans up to date including fundraising, communications, finance and impact reporting, ensuring we meet key deadlines

We recognise that both poverty and insecurity are multi-dimensional, with material, social and emotional aspects, and we also consider economic, social and environmental justice to be inextricably linked.

About the role

We organise our Policy & Ideas work around the following issue areas: families, work and care; housing, land and climate; community, place and social security; and macroeconomics and fiscal policy. This role will have a focus on either macroeconomics or fiscal policy, or both, whole also working to support out other policy themes. We want our work to confront the immediate manifestations of poverty and insecurity but also the deeper social and economic conditions on which these rest.

That’s where you come in.

We are seeking two Senior Economists, one full-time permanent role and one 12-month fixed term role, which could be either full-time or part-time. In both roles, we are looking for someone to develop and lead research projects that generate arguments, policies and ideas to address the social and economic challenges that underpin poverty and household economic insecurity in the UK today and chart a course to a different and better future.

You will devise, lead and deliver high quality economic analysis and thinking to JRF’s policy & ideas work and offer a professional economics perspective across the wider organisation – and as a trusted, expert voice externally. You will seek out and connect with people or organisations developing new ideas and strategies that can contribute to our mission; and to develop proposals for how JRF should use its platform and resources to support their development and diffusion.

About you

As a Senior Economist, we would like you to either have a professional economics training or equivalent professional work experience, advanced data analysis skills and the ability to use a wide range of tools and software to undertake large scale and groundbreaking economic analysis (including using micro-data from major national surveys).

With experience of working on policy issues relating to poverty, you will have significant experience of having initiated, designed, led and delivered projects that included original economic analysis that generated a different or better understanding of policy challenges and helped to guide new arguments and ideas. You will be able to think critically and creatively, analyse and problem solve, and contribute to the generation of new ideas and alternative ways of approaching an issue, able to communicate arguments and ideas persuasively, via writing and speaking.

You will have advanced knowledge and critical awareness of economic theory, principles, datasets and analytical techniques and how to deploy these effectively in support of understanding and addressing the drivers of household economic insecurity. With significant knowledge of one or both of macroeconomics or UK fiscal policy and a strong understanding of how policy making works across the UK, devolved and sub-national governments, you will have an awareness and engagement with relevant political, policy and intellectual debates, plus models and approaches to social change.

The charity, alongside volunteers and partners, coordinates a network of food banks, kitchens, a community shop and café. Whilst at these locations, guests can access more holistic support, including welfare advice, asylum support and an award-winning community garden.

The Head of Advice Services will play an integral role in safeguarding the integrity of services, set the overall strategy for the advice service, and ensure the service and programmes run effectively and efficiently.

Key responsibilities:

• Strategic Leadership & Service Oversight: Provide direction for Advice Services, supporting programme development, maintaining quality standards (AQS and OISC), and managing staff, while also handling a small caseload of complex advice cases.
• Monitoring, Evaluation & Impact: Work with the Advice Service Manager to track programme goals and outcomes, use data to guide strategic decisions, and ensure meaningful community involvement in service evaluation.
• Safeguarding: Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, overseeing safeguarding policies, training, and risk management, and offering strategic advice to staff across the organisation.
• Fundraising & Financial Oversight: Support funding bids and oversee operational planning and budgets for Advice Services, ensuring delivery aligns with organisational goals and funder requirements.

The ideal candidate will have leadership experience within advice services, with a strong background in delivering and managing caseloads in areas such as immigration, welfare, or housing advice. You will bring expertise in impact evaluation, safeguarding, financial oversight, and rights-based or trauma-informed approaches. Strong communication, leadership, and data analysis skills, along with a commitment to learning, are essential.
