The Role
The purpose of the Roma Outreach Worker role is to deliver an effective service to single people who are currently rough sleeping. This post will actively support Roma clients, providing a continued and consistent point of contact whilst assisting them in navigating the various change pathways available to them.

To be considered for the role of Roma Outreach Worker, you will have:
- Able to speak Romani or Romanian fluently or to a high level.

We are seeking to recruit a highly skilled Key Worker for our Key Worker Service in East Berkshire. The role will be diverse and service user centred and would suit someone with significant experience in supporting young people and young adults with Autism and Learning Disabilities and their families.
The day to day work will involve a flexible approach to coordination and direct support for the young person and their family, as well as providing responsive communication at times of increased need. This is an exciting role which allows for the Key Worker to support families to navigate the system whilst advocating for them and ensuring that their voice is heard.

YMCA West Sussex Transitional housing provides safe, secure accommodation for young people aged 18-25, who have been, or are at risk of homelessness. Our staff team comprises of Supported Housing Support Workers, Mobile Night Workers and two Managers. In delivering the role, you will work with the Deputy Supported Housing Manager and the wider housing team to provide effective day to day management of our transitional accommodation service. You will work with the Managers and the wider housing team to provide effective day to day management of our accommodation project. As a Support Worker you will be expected to enable and support vulnerable individuals with complex needs to address this while maintaining their tenancy with the long term goal of living in an independent setting by providing flexible and individually tailored support package. Working with excluded and hard to reach customers can be challenging, however, with intensive support this challenge can be broken. You will need to be able to engage our customers in a non-judgmental way. You will also be responsible for dealing with emergencies that may arise during your shift whilst remaining calm and using initiative then writing up incident reports amongst other administrative tasks.
As a support worker, you will be working as part of a team as well as with external agencies such as London Probation Service, local substance misuse services, Mental health teams, and police amongst others. Sometimes customers may not be linked in with agencies when they entre the service, as a support worker it is part of your role to ensure they are receiving the correct support from agencies required. Ideally, you will have experience of working with vulnerable people or an understanding of the needs of homelessness. You will be required to support customers with managing their arrears; ensuring housing benefit is applied for as well as monitoring payments and acting appropriately if payments are suspended in order to ensure customer does not fall into any arrears.
You will be responsible for supporting the working shift pattern of the service which is a five week rolling rota which consists of working some weekends as well as long days.
There will be a rota for shifts, with working patterns of 7:30-15:30 and 12:30-20:30. There will be some weekend work.

We provide support for 16 customers, we have two sites Hope House (10 bed supported housing) Doddsfield Rd (6 flats independent living with floating support).
Hope House - Support hours 24 hours 7 days per week, with sleep- in based on a shift rota pattern - (sleep-ins staff are paid additional to salary advertised).
Doddsfield Rd - Floating support (during working hours)
Team - 1X Contract Manager, 1X Team Leader, 3.2 Support Workers.

Staff work closely with Slough Community Mental Health Team (SCMHT) we also have a designated Occupational Therapist working along side supporting staff. Your primary role will be to keep our service and young people, safe. You will be lone working as part of the role, so you will need to be comfortable with decision making and following procedures.
You will work a shift of 8pm-7am on a four night on, four night off rota. Although these are long shifts, you will get four days off after, which can provide a great work life balance.

As part of the site services team the role holder will be expected to liaise with managers and staff across the Trust. About the role
£18,975 for 22 hours, FTE salary is £31,051
In this varied and rewarding role you will develop and coordinate our team of volunteers and Sessional Workers (zero hours youth workers). You will be instrumental in defining our volunteer strategy moving forward and identify other participation opportunities such as work experience placements, university placements, internships and apprenticeships.
You will also help develop internal engagement activities and participate in external awareness raising and fundraising activities, to support both volunteering and fundraising.
This role is for 22 hours per week, which will ideally be worked over 4 days. There is the option of hybrid working. We provide a surrey wide service, so the successful applicant will be willing to travel across the county to meet volunteers and sessionals as well as participate in engagement opportunities.
Key responsibilities
Full duties are included in the job outline, key responsibilities include:
- To coordinate the recruitment and induction process for volunteers and sessional workers.
- To coordinate, develop and deliver appropriate induction, training and supervision activities.
- To act as a central point of contact for volunteers and sessional workers
- To embed good practice in every aspect of the volunteer & sessional worker journey.
- To develop and manage partnerships with external stakeholders including Universities/volunteering hubs, local businesses and community groups to encourage a range of opportunities.
- To organise and attend community events and organise recruitment workshops and talks, across the county.
- To support the HR Manager by organising engagement activities and forums for our own staff, sessionals, volunteers and other stakeholders.
- To undertake ad hoc work for our fundraising function, to support our community fundraising efforts.
- To coordinate sessional work opportunities.
About you
You must:
- Have proven experience of recruiting and managing volunteers
- Have experience delivering information or training
- Have experience with having difficult conversations with volunteers or workers
- Have experience of working across different teams, networking and developing links with other agencies
- Be an effective communicator, with strong written communication skills
- Be able to multi-task, plan a workload, set priorities and manage time effectively, working without direct supervision
- Have a good professional knowledge of standard Microsoft packages and databases
- Ideally, have a driving license and use of own vehicle. Mileage expenses are paid.
