Job description

About us

Mental Health Resource is a local, award-winning charity that improves the mental wellbeing of people in our community, through the provision of safe spaces and person-centred mental health support. We are supportive, non-judgemental, person-centred and community-focused. Our activity is driven by listening to our communities and we work inclusively and collaboratively, and are always exploring ways of learning, growing and trying new ventures. This is an exciting time for the charity as we embark on a new strategy and we would love to hear from you if you would like to help us to deliver it.

Our Hub project provides a wide range of wellbeing activities, peer support groups and 1-1 sessions for adults throughout the week from our base in Tunbridge Wells. We enable clients to identify their goals and to support them in their recovery, delivering activities to enhance wellbeing and providing tools and strategies to help them to manage their mental health.

The role

We are looking for someone to join our Hub team. This is the job for you if you have a strong understanding of mental health conditions and how they affect people; experience supporting adults with their mental health; the ability to motivate and engage with groups; and are able to handle challenging situations with confidence. You will need to share our values, be a great team player, be warm and friendly, and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ideally you will be willing to share knowledge about a particular skill or interest such as art, cooking or exercise that can ultimately be used to further promote the wellbeing of our clients.

Please read the job description and person specification for further information as you will need to refer to this in the application process should you wish to apply.

We offer the following benefits:

  • 25 days annual leave entitlement per year plus bank holidays, pro rata, with incremental increases capped at 30 days after 10 years’ service
  • An additional day of leave on your birthday and another over the winter period
  • A fully supportive working environment with regular supervision
  • Flexible days and hours, to be arranged
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Programme, a confidential 24/7 telephone advice and counselling service.
  • Ongoing training relevant to your role, and access to a wide variety of courses
  • Pension contributions of up to 4% of your salary.

 The application process

Please submit a current CV and a supporting statement (maximum of 2 sides of A4) that clearly outlines your suitability for the role. Please make sure you have addressed all the criteria listed in the person specification within your statement. CV’s sent without a supporting statement will automatically be discounted.

Please email your CV and supporting statement to the Office Manager, Leigh Attwood by 10am on Tuesday 28th May 2024.

We will hold face-to-face interviews at our premises in Tunbridge Wells on Thursday 6th June.

Please note:

  • As the role will be working with vulnerable adults, an Enhanced DBS check will be required.
  • To apply for this role, you must be able to provide evidence that you have the right to live and work in the UK without restrictions.

Mental Health Resource is committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion and we want this to be reflected in the diversity of the people who work for us and we welcome applications from people from all backgrounds and identities.

If you have access needs or require reasonable adjustments as part of the recruitment process, please let us know.

We look forward to receiving your application.
