Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. We have embarked on our 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.

Location: Based in London office, E1, with the team meeting in person to collaborate once per week. There is also the expectation of travel as required (usually 2-4 times per month) across London (and potentially) the UK to meet with donors. About the role
Crisis is in the first year of our new strategy, and philanthropy is critical to achieving our organisational goals, especially the £20m Housing Supply campaign, an ambitious initiative at the heart of our strategy to deliver genuinely affordable homes and end homelessness for good.

You would use your proven ability to build strong relationships and secure four- to five-figure gifts to manage a dynamic portfolio of major donors and prospects, applying your understanding of moves management and the major donor solicitation cycle to engage, inspire, and retain support. Confident in working with high-profile individuals, you would use your excellent communication and influencing skills to deliver compelling cases for support, represent Crisis with professionalism, and create meaningful donor experiences.

Proactive and creative in your approach, you would work collaboratively across teams, integrate digital techniques to enhance engagement, and measure success against KPIs and targets. Above all, your work would be driven by a deep commitment to Crisis’ purpose and values, equity, inclusion, and the belief that together we can end homelessness for good.

You will combine excellent communication and influencing skills with creativity and independence, managing a dynamic portfolio of donors while working collaboratively across teams to deliver outstanding supporter experiences. Role purpose
Providing independent Health complaint advocacy for a statutory rights based service under the Health and Social Care Act 2014, empowering qualifying individuals to raise concerns, speak up, and participate in decisions about their care and treatment. The post focuses on ensuring individuals have dignity and respect, clarifying options to challenge decisions, and supporting involvement, independence, and wellbeing. It is also about helping in providing accessible information, facilitating advocacy escalation if necessary, in writing to the parliamentary and Health service ombudsman, whilst  monitoring outcomes of individuals to improve experiences towards suitable resolutions.

This role will include listening and providing information and representing people’s views. You may be asked to support people by attending Best Interests Meetings, Review Meetings, Safeguarding meetings, Hospital PALS Manager’s Meetings, Community Mental Health meetings, Social Care Practitioners meeting, Mental Health Review Tribunals, Ward Round Meetings and Care Plan Approach meetings focussing on solutions to any NHS complaint

We must provide advocacy to Ealing residents over 18. You will ensure that people have their voice heard, views and rights understood and feel more in control of decisions affecting them.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide people with information about their rights

The Peer Support In-Reach Service is a partnership between several local Minds. Senior Peer Support Workers and Peer Support Workers, who have direct lived experience of mental health issues, are working on in-patient wards in Croydon, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham and Wandsworth to provide recovery-focused peer support to people as they leave hospital and journey towards living independently in the community.

We are seeking a Senior Peer Support Worker to join the team in Lewisham and line manage the Peer Support Workers.

You will use your lived experience whilst on the ward to help people to build skills to manage their home, finances, connect with family and friends, pursue social or vocational interests, to get more involved in their local community and to stay physically and mentally well. 

Your support will be person-centred and may include mentoring, coaching, emotional support and facilitating access to community activities, practical support, work or study.  The role will be ward-based initially until the patient is ready for discharge; you will then work with them to develop their support plans and goals. You will support them with the transition into the community for up to 6 weeks, helping them to connect with community resources to ensure they are well-supported in the community and working towards their goals.

Main Duties

1. Assessing, planning and implementing, in partnership with the individuals you support, programmes of support and/or care that meet their general needs and maximise their independence, presence and participation within the community and to ensure the quality of service delivery.

2. Working with individuals (current and prospective people the Tower Project may support), families, advocates and other professional colleagues as required in order to facilitate good communication and decision making so that the service provided is coordinated and applicable.

7. Ensuring the allocation of staff duties is clearly and adequately defined and communicated to all staff through the appropriate channels, to ensure that all staff members understand their own and others’ roles and responsibilities.

8. Ensuring that each service remains within its allocated budget; monitoring expenditure on an ongoing basis and taking corrective action as appropriate.

9. Ensuring that all paperwork and returns required by the organisation and support purchasers are completed accurately and on time so that the service can meet its procedural and contractual obligations in terms of data collection and monitoring.

14. Co-ordinating and monitoring all mandatory training requirements, nominating and liaising with appropriate bodies as applicable in order to ensure that training is up to date and all staff members receive the appropriate training.

Primary Purpose:

The Service Manager works as part of the Charity Operations team and has operational responsibility for the sustainability and development of a range of existing services, developing new service opportunities and taking an active part in influencing change and improvement on behalf of older people..

Main Duties:

• Participate in joint decision making as a member of the services management team in both strategic and operational planning.
• In-line with the organisation’s strategy, prepare an annual plan of activity for all areas of responsibility identifying resource implications.
• Ensure staff take the necessary operational decisions to meet service plans and contractual requirements.
• Review and revise service operational delivery plans regularly to ensure they are still meeting need. Ensure that the operational plans are cascaded down to the teams.

• Working with the Head of Services and Head of Finance to agree the annual budgets for all areas of responsibility.

• Ensure that planned staff absence is organised to ensure that appropriately trained staff are available to provide cover, or acceptable alternative arrangements are in place
• Have a clear view of the achievable outcomes of the work (both quantitative and qualitative). Ensure these expectations are reflected in materials provided to people we work with and in the contractual arrangements agreed with funders.
• Ensure that individual services are meeting their contractual requirements, working closely with the Head of Services and the team to mitigate any risks to this.
• Support the Head of Services in negotiations with existing and potential funders for areas of responsibility.
• Support with the process of writing and submitting tenders and grant applications.
• Working with the Head of Services and Head of Income Generation, develop and deliver income generating activities.
• Identify, develop and manage effective partnerships to continuously improve service delivery
• Represent the organisation as required in a variety of local, regional and national forums and to all types of audience, within the area of expertise.
• Represent older people and advocate on their behalf with health and social care providers, public and private sector care providers, housing, leisure and learning providers, and all kinds of statutory bodies.
• Promote the organisation and its services to the general public.
• Take an active role in policy and procedures meetings.
• Ensure that the organisation policies and procedures are understood and complied with by all staff and volunteers.
• Ensure that the organisation achieves and fully complies with the terms of quality assurance systems and quality marks adopted/achieved by the organisation.
• Establish an understanding in the staff team of the importance of research and evaluation as an integral part of their role and promote a learning culture in all areas.
