We are looking for an Independent Advocate to join our Bristol and BaNES team working on our Advocacy contract. Our ideal candidate will have worked in advocacy, information and advice or similar role before, ideally in a health, social care or voluntary setting and will have experience of working with vulnerable adults.
You will have strong experience working with vulnerable adults who are affected by significant health and social care issues who find it difficult to speak up for themselves; and experience providing persuasive verbal and written representations.
In this role you will be supporting a wide range of vulnerable adults often with profound and multiple needs. The successful candidate will need a good working knowledge of public and voluntary organisations to enable them to work in partnership with clients and professionals, gaining an understanding of their issues by listening, exploring options and taking action as directed by them.
You will need to have a flexible attitude and must be comfortable handling highly sensitive information whilst able to work well independently and confidently on behalf of others. Strong communication skills and time management skills will be required and you will need to be computer literate.
Because of the nature and location of the role, applicants must live within the area; having a full driver’s licence and access to their own transport is desirable. Travel expenses will only be paid once in the Bristol area border.

About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an Advocate to join our team covering the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough area. Your role will require you to travel to locations such as hospitals and care homes across the area to meet with clients and professionals and be home based for administrative tasks. Full time Advocates will work 35 hours a week, between Monday and Friday 9-5pm. The posts are permanent contracts with a starting salary between £22,000 - £29,000 per annum; potential to earn up to £29,000 depending on qualifications.

Job Title: Independent Gender Violence Advocate (IGVA)
Location: Redbridge VAWG, London

We are recruiting for two independent gender violence advocates who will be working closely with victims of gender-based violence from the point of crisis, to provide high quality independent advocacy and support to survivors of gender-based violence at the highest risk and their children.
In this role you will be providing high quality independent advocacy and support to the highest risk survivors of gender-based violence and their children. This involves establishing and prioritising the risks to and the needs of survivors of gender-based violence and developing and delivering individual support and risk management plans in partnership with other agencies who attend the MARAC. You will advocate both verbally and in writing in a range of settings including civil and criminal proceedings and with criminal justice professionals.
We are looking for someone with proven experience of providing emotional and practical support to survivors of gender-based violence, also experienced in identifying and responding to the risks to and needs of survivors with ability to work in crisis or under pressure and have an up-to-date knowledge of criminal and civil legislation relating to gender-based violence.
You must understand multi-agency partnership structures including the MARAC and have an ability to advocate on a client’s behalf in a range of settings with strong written and verbal communication skills to write reports, deliver presentations and to communicate to stakeholders in a clear and effective way.
This role requires an exceptional individual who wants to make a difference. Occasional evening work may be required.

Your role will be home based for telephone referrals and administrative tasks, and you will travel around your area to meet the demands of the service which includes networking with providers for signposting opportunities. Some areas may include remote locations without easy access to public transport; therefore, access to other forms of transport may be required. This could be in a client’s own homes and other suitable community venues across the Aberdeen area.

Role Overview
Job Title: Housing Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA)
Location: Lewisham or Kingston, London
Salary: £27,948 per annum

We are recruiting for Housing Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) who is passionate about supporting women and children who are impacted by domestic violence. This is a new and exciting role in Refuge, the post holder will be embedded within borough housing teams to facilitate the dual working that will ensure that survivors’ safety and housing needs are met. Post holder will be based within housing teams for three days a week, to help facilitate.
- Close working relationships with Housing colleagues.
- Provision of specialist knowledge relating to DA for Housing Officers and Homelessness Teams to draw on.
- Specialist support for survivors at the moment of crisis.
- Provision of advocacy; supporting survivors to access safe accommodation.
- Ongoing support from the IDVA from wider DA service, including access to group clinical supervision, casework management meetings, reflective practice sessions, one-to-one supervision from service manager.
This recognises that many survivors will approach housing at moments of crisis when they are either considering fleeing or have already fled. The housing IDVA will carry a caseload of survivors and their children that require additional support, also will work closely with victims of domestic abuse from the point of crisis, to provide high quality independent advocacy and support to survivors of domestic abuse at the highest risk and their children.
In this role you will empower survivors by providing them with emotional, practical and personal welfare support. They will ensure that survivors are provided with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment, enabling them to access their rights, make decisions and increase their life options. The job involves informing survivors of the full range of civil, criminal and practical options that might increase their safety.

Our client provides a range of innovative services to help vulnerable women avoid, survive and exit the criminal justice system. They are now recruiting for an Advocate for their Lambeth-based Hub, delivering one to one support and advocacy, group work, counselling, specialist substance misuse and domestic abuse services for women who are in contact with, or at risk of being in contact with, the criminal justice system. This position is offered on a temporary, ongoing basis.
The purpose of this role is to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed, independent advocacy for women in communities and in prisons. This will focus on early intervention, and holistic provision as part of a 'whole system' multi-agency response that looks to address the root causes of women's offending. Managing a caseload of women, you will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and partners to ensure your clients receive a full wrap around service and support, whilst ensuring they are fully involved in the designing and delivery of their intervention.
To apply for this role, you must be an experienced keyworker and/or advocate with significant experience of supporting vulnerable people (preferably women and/or in the criminal justice system). You must have experience of delivering effective casework support and advocacy to service users and will have experience of working collaboratively with external agencies at an operational level. A thorough knowledge of the impact the criminal justice system has to women is crucial and a strong knowledge of safeguarding policy, practice and procedures would be highly beneficial.
To be considered, you must be available immediately and be in possession of a fully enhanced DBS check, issued within the last year or registered to the online update service.

About Us
Advocacy Support Cymru (ASC) is a registered charity with offices in Cardiff and Swansea. We provide Independent Mental Health and Mental Capacity Advocacy Services across most of South Wales, employing 44 employees.
About you
You will have significant experience working with vulnerable adults and/or children, either within health or social care setting, or indirectly, for example as a carer. You will understand and have experience of working effectively in an intra-agency context with Health and Social Care Professionals.
Previous direct experience in the role would be preferred but training will be provided.
To provide an Independent Mental Health Advocacy Service to Welsh Qualifying Patients in hospitals and registered settings as required by the Mental Health Act 1983 (2007 Amendment) and the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010.
The salary band for the role is £23,548 to £27,811 based on a 37 hour week. This is a permanent full time role at 37 hours per week.
