Purpose

As a Volunteer with Age UK Croydon, you will play a vital role in helping us achieve our mission by engaging with the community and providing support. Your contribution will directly impact the well-being of older residents and help foster an inclusive, caring community.

Key Responsibilities

− Reach out to older adults through phone calls, home visits, or community events to reduce loneliness and promote social inclusion. 

− Assist in organising and supporting local events, activities, and outreach initiatives.

− Help coordinate and promote access to services such as information and advice, health and wellbeing programs, and social activities.

− Support with data entry, maintaining volunteer and participant records, and administrative tasks as needed. 

− Help distribute newsletters, flyers, and promotional materials.

− Assist in raising awareness about Age UK Croydon’s services through community engagement. 

− Respect client confidentiality and uphold the dignity and independence of older people. 

  Essential Skills and Qualities:

- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic nature 

- Good communication and active listening skills 

- Reliable, respectful, and sensitive to diversity and individual needs 

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team 

- Basic computer skills (for administrative tasks) are desirable but not essential

Purpose of the Role

As a Volunteer Engagement & Outreach Ambassador, you will play a vital role in promoting RollaDome’s roller skating clubs, birthday parties, and employability programs by visiting schools, attending events, and networking with local organisations. Your energy, people skills, and passion for getting others involved will help bring new participants into our programs and increase our presence across boroughs.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent RollaDome at schools, youth centres, and community events.
• Promote our services, including skating clubs, classes, parties, and training programs.
• Build and maintain relationships with school staff, community leaders, and youth organisations.
• Distribute leaflets, posters, and program information within schools and key community venues.
• Gather expressions of interest and pass them to the relevant team members.

Urban Youth is a new youth work charity being established to provide engaging youth work activities, offer positive mentorship, and create safe spaces where young people can thrive and reach their full potential. We're currently in the crucial setup phase, laying the groundwork for our mission.

We're looking for a dedicated Volunteer for Administrative & Research Support to provide vital assistance to our Founder and new Board of Trustees. This is a unique chance to be involved from the very beginning, helping to shape the operational backbone of Urban Youth.

What will you do?

In this essential role, you'll provide critical support to get Urban Youth off the ground.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Researching Compliance: Helping to research essential Charity Commission guidelines, safeguarding best practices, data protection regulations (GDPR), and other legal requirements for charities in the UK.

• Document Preparation: Assisting with drafting, compiling, and organising various documents, including information needed for charity registration, initial policies, and internal records.

• Information Management: Helping to set up and maintain organised digital and physical filing systems, ensuring important documents are easily accessible.

• Policy Development Support: Researching and gathering information to support the development of Urban Youth's initial operational policies (e.g., a basic safeguarding policy, volunteer agreements, data privacy statements).

• General Administrative Tasks: Providing support with tasks like email drafting, scheduling, and preparing materials for initial meetings.

Who are we looking for?

We need someone who is not only passionate about our cause but also brings a solid skillset in administration and research.

You should be:

• Highly Organised: You have an excellent eye for detail and can manage information effectively.

• Proficient with Technology: Comfortable using standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs/Sheets) and online research tools.

• Strong Researcher: Able to efficiently find and summarise key information from various sources.

• Reliable & Proactive: Someone who can take initiative and manage tasks independently.

• Committed: Willing to dedicate a few hours a week (flexible, can often be done remotely) to help us build Urban Youth from the ground up.

We are looking for up to ten UK university students to join our volunteer Student Ambassadors team and help Ygam achieve its social purpose by reaching out to students at university. This will be achieved by advising Ygam on the needs of students, supporting with content development, organising activities at your campus, and join us at events to raise awareness of gaming and gambling harms.

We are seeking individuals who are outgoing, with a confident personality. You will enjoy engaging with other students and be able to advise us on the experiences of students with regards to gaming and gambling.We’d love to hear from students with an interest in mental health, psychology, content development, and gaming.

What will you do?

In this pivotal role, you'll be instrumental in securing the seed funding we need to get started.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Grant Research & Application: Researching and identifying suitable grant opportunities from trusts, foundations, and corporate social responsibility programs. You'll then assist with or lead on drafting compelling grant applications to secure vital seed funding.

• Fundraising Event Planning: Taking the lead on planning and organizing a range of initial fundraising events and activities. This could involve small community events, online campaigns, or creative initiatives to raise awareness and funds.

• Donor Cultivation Support: Helping to identify potential individual donors or corporate partners and assisting with initial outreach strategies.

• Budgeting & Tracking: Supporting the development of basic fundraising budgets and helping to track income and expenditure for fundraising activities.

Who are we looking for?

We need someone who is not only passionate about empowering young people but also brings practical skills in fundraising and development.

You should be:

• Proactive & Self-Motivated: Able to take initiative, identify opportunities, and drive tasks forward with minimal supervision.

URBAN YOUTH

As a Parent support group volunteer at our monthly get together on a Wednesday morning , you’ll support parents of deafblind children of all ages in a group setting. A friendly face at the group, you’ll welcome and talk to people to help them feel comfortable, encourage conversation and make sure they’re offered refreshments. You’ll also help set up and tidy away at the end of the group.

There is also an opportunity to work with our Schools Liaison Officer to help contact and organise external speakers to attend the group.

It’s a fantastic opportunity for you to meet new friends, learn new skills, have fun and make a difference supporting your community.

Your involvement in this role will ensure parents of deafblind children are able to meet others in a similar situation, access the support and information they need and enjoy meaningful activities. You’ll be great for the role if:

You can demonstrate empathy and compassion

You are over the age of 18

As a Group Leader, you’ll play a key role in delivering our life-changing therapeutic services by co-facilitating weekly self-help groups. Using a proven model rooted in Exposure-Response Therapy and CBT, you'll help guide members through understanding their conditions and moving toward recovery.

We’ll train you to confidently co-lead sessions with another volunteer. All you need is empathy, warmth, and a genuine desire to support others. Lived experience of anxiety, OCD, or phobias is a bonus, not a must. We ask for a commitment of just 2 hours a week for at least 12 months.

You’ll be part of something truly meaningful—helping others while growing personally and professionally.

What will you be doing?

Therapeutic Responsibilities

• Co-facilitate therapeutic guided self-help groups every week.
• Interact with relevant service users to arrange their initial attendance at therapeutic groups.
• Consistently work within the scope of your training and recognise the limits of your practice.
• Liaise closely with the organisation's Clinical Director to discuss challenging cases and clinical concerns.
• Inform the Clinical Director of any expected instances of absence two weeks before the event. 
• Administrative Responsibilities
• Record service users' attendance every week.
• Maintain service user attendance databases to the highest possible standards of accuracy and detail.
• Disseminate psychometric measures to service users by the organisation's evaluation strategy
• Promote a culture of evaluation amongst service users attending your groups to enhance the amount of individualised feedback available to them.
• Respond to service user enquiries, and organisational communications, in an appropriately timely manner.
• Actively engage in the initial training workshops that are provided by the organisation.
• Maintain a commitment to continual personal development and engage in additional training opportunities when provided.
• Actively engage in organised peer reflective practices
• Make use of the organisation-wide digital communication channels to share and learn therapeutic practices.
