We are looking to recruit a motivated and talented individual with strong project management skills to lead the delivery of the training function within the BSI. Reporting directly to the Director of Events and Training, and in collaboration with the wider BSI team, the Training Manager will be responsible for the delivery of existing training programmes and for devising, setting up and rolling out new training courses by working with BSI members to develop content and curricula, utilising different platforms from face-to-face to remote learning and supporting marketing of the courses to relevant sectors.

This role is responsible for engaging with a wide range of stakeholders to help identify training needs and opportunities that the BSI can meet. This will include opportunities in several sectors including clinical, scientific and public/patient focused. Using strong commercial acumen, the Training Manager will be critical in the continued development and growth of the training function to generate significant new income for the BSI.

The Racial Justice Panel (RJP) was established by the Archbishops’ Council in December 2024 following the successful conclusion of the work on the Archbishops' Commission for Racial Justice led by the Lord Boateng PC, CVO. The RJP is to provide independent assurance that the work of racial justice is being carried out effectively by the Church, in accordance with agreed plans and wider best practice.

The RJP Panel, albeit a critical friend, maintains its independence, offering rigorous scrutiny and challenge to the Church in its work on racial justice including examining progress against strategic and delivery plans. It shall produce an annual report to be laid before the General Synod. 

The RJP are looking to appoint an experienced independent Chair who will provide excellent leadership, direction and independent scrutiny and challenge to the Church of England and bring external expertise from holding a highly senior role. 

They are looking for an independent chair who:

• Is a gifted leader, who will support the Church of England in further strengthening its safeguarding arrangements and partnerships.
• Is passionate about working collaboratively at all levels, with a proven track record in improvement work at a national level.

As part of a small team, the Events and Exhibitions Manager will support the Head of Venue and New Business Development with sales, planning and delivery of events and exhibitions for external venue hire clients as well as support Society colleagues with internal event planning.

Event support includes use of the computerised room bookings system, ability to set-up and operate basic audio-visual and IT equipment, event support and post-event administration including customer invoicing.

Job Purpose:

To provide operational management of the Substance Misuse Through-the-Gate (SMTTG) programme, which supports Lambeth and Southwark women in custody and their transition back into the community. The Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring the service is delivered to a high standard by line managing staff, developing strong partnerships with prisons and recovery services, and fostering a culture of quality, learning, and accountability.

The post holder will also hold a caseload, working directly with women in custody to support them into community services. They will provide robust Through-the-Gate (TTG) support on release and continue to work with women in the community for up to six months to ensure a smooth transition and sustainable recovery.

Key Responsibility Areas:

1. Lead the operational management of the Substance Misuse TTG programme, ensuring high-quality, trauma-responsive support for women impacted by the criminal justice system
2. Manage and develop staff to foster a strong, inclusive, and reflective team culture
3. Deliver direct support to women, ensuring a trauma-informed and person-centred approach
4. Develop effective relationships with key stakeholders in prisons and the community to strengthen partnerships and share expertise

• Hybrid working: Linked to our Ewell (Surrey) office, with an option to work occasionally from a shared office space in London Bridge.

About the Role

In this exciting role, you’ll work with the Mass Participation Product Manager to deliver virtual fundraising programmes and create inspiring stewardship journeys that empower our supporters to fundraise successfully. You’ll also develop engaging, multi-channel campaigns, analyse performance to drive improvements, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure our products exceed expectations.

This role gives you the chance to combine project management and event planning skills, while contributing to Samaritans’ life-saving work.

​

What You’ll Be Doing

• Leading on the delivery of key virtual fundraising events and programmes.

• Crafting supporter communications and experiences that build lasting relationships.

• Developing marketing plans and optimising campaigns using data-driven insights.

• Collaborating with teams across Samaritans to maximise income and engagement.

• Managing external suppliers and ensuring smooth operations for fundraising events.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in event management or community fundraising.

• Strong project management skills and marketing experience across online/offline channels.

• Excellent written communication skills with an understanding of tone of voice.

• Experience in managing online communities and using data to inform decisions.

• Experience in social media management for a brand (desirable).

• Knowledge of CRM systems and working to income targets (desirable.
