We are looking for an Individual Giving Fundraiser to join a warm team with a large National health charity, to help deliver the successful annual direct marketing recruitment programmes. This is a maternity cover contract.

This can be a London hybrid or UK homebased role, with the requirement of travel once a month into the London office with travel cost covered.

The Role
Join a team to develop the marketing plan for individual online and offline campaigns with all stakeholders.

Manage the approach to audience targeting and segmentation, working with external media agencies for digital and cold direct mail campaigns.

Manage campaign budgets and ensure accurate and complete records are kept.

Research into projects, case studies, production methods and other charities approaches to feed into the creative process.

The Candidate
Experience in direct marketing for a charity.

Clear and accurate written skills and copy editing.

Ability to work at a detailed level as well as develop campaign strategy.

Good numerical skills and ability to manage and prepare financial information, and analyse campaign results.

Job Purpose

We are looking for a Marine Scientist to play a substantive role to support all of Oceana’s UK campaigns. Research, science and data are at the heart of Oceana’s UK work, underpinning our policy positions, creating campaign moments and answering key questions with new research.

The successful candidate will write and project manage research to unlock key campaign questions relating to overfishing, habitat protection and energy in particular, as well as other potential campaign areas in future. They will also work to increase Oceana’s presence within the academic community, attending relevant conferences and meetings and seeking future collaborations on topics of interest.

The Scientist will report to and be supported by the Director of Policy and Research, and work closely with science colleagues across the Oceana global network and beyond. Eligible candidates should have some experience in conducting research, including analysing data, but we’re equally looking for passion, motivation and a drive to protect the ocean. You should be a self-starter, with a strong ability to work independently and as part of a small but growing team.

Role Overview

• Support the delivery of Oceana’s campaigns, working with the Director of Policy and Research and relevant campaign teams.
• Research, draft and/or review content for Oceana’s scientific reports and other external communications, with particular attention to scientific accuracy.
• Gather evidence to support Oceana’s UK campaigns, including analysing primary and secondary data, conducting literature reviews and creating position papers.
• Commission and project manage research from external partners as needed, managing relationships through the duration of any projects.
• Work closely with the Oceana HQ Science and Strategy team and other scientist colleagues in the Oceana network to gather insights, inspiration and knowledge.
• Coordinate relevant stakeholders to ensure internal scientific reviews are completed in line with campaign timelines.
• Build strong external relationships within the academic community and represent Oceana to ensure we advance our goals with a wide range of stakeholders, from the general public to politicians.
• Actively participate in key policy and research conferences and events to defend and advance Oceana campaign goals.
• Maintain subject matter expertise and identify areas for new research by following the current literature, attending relevant meetings, and communicating with peers in the field.
• Represent Oceana externally in relevant networks, with partners and in the media as needed.
• Conduct other policy and research tasks as agreed and required.

Candidate Requirements

Education and work experience

• Degree, ideally masters-level, in environmental, fisheries or marine science, or a related field.
• Familiarity with marine and climate issues, regulations and policies in the UK, as well as with key institutions and decision-making processes.
• Experience writing or commissioning primary or secondary research and associated materials summarising the work.
• A passion for UK seas and delivering a healthy ocean in general.

Skills and knowledge

• Familiarity with UK marine and fisheries policy and science.
• GIS and database proficiency, including basic knowledge of GIS mapping and statistical analysis.
• Strong project management skills, with experience managing multiple workstreams and projects effectively to time and budget.
• Ability to represent Oceana in a professional and responsive manner both within and outside the academic community
• Excellent writing, editing, communication, organisational and research skills with the ability to confidently distil scientific messages to stakeholders with varying levels of expertise.

The vacancy

Responsibilities and Person Specification:

The Head of Governance will lead the charity’s small Governance and Risk, and Facilities teams. They are responsible for governance, company secretarial, risk management, health and safety, safeguarding, information governance, procurement and contracts management, business continuity planning, and management of facilities and the charity's office and small portfolio of other properties.

The role would suit someone who enjoys a broad remit and working with colleagues across the charity, who can think around issues and implement pragmatic solutions. As the role has a wide remit, the ability to learn quickly will be key. Candidates will need senior level experience of charity governance, risk management and safeguarding, ideally working with adults at risk. Applicants will need to be good communicators, verbally and in writing.

This role is 0.5FTE (17.5 hours per week). There is some flexibility around how the hours can be worked, but hours would normally be worked across 2.5 days a week, with attendance required at specific times for management and trustee meetings. Office attendance will be required on average 2 days a week for meetings and due to responsibility for office management.

Richmond Carers Centre has the mission to help unpaid and family adult carers to live a full, active and meaningful life by providing them with advice, information, activities, breaks and emotional support either face to face, by phone or by email to enable them to live well.

As the Adult Carers Activities Coordinator, you will directly deliver our leisure break activity and training programmes. You will plan, deliver, promote and review a programme of activities for adult carers, including outreach activities and leisure events, as well as group work to help enhance carers’ health and wellbeing. The core aim of the activity programme is to provide carers with a much needed break from their caring responsibilities, in a safe and social environment where they can meet other carers and focus on their wellbeing.

• To coordinate and deliver an established activities programme for adult carers with the aim to provide them with a break from their caring role and socialise with other carers to help reduce their isolation.
• To coordinate and deliver a training workshop programme to provide carers with information and advice to support them with their caring role and opportunities to learn.
• To work with relevant professionals to deliver a programme of wellbeing activities, including yoga, Pilates and complementary therapies.
• To recruit, train, support and manage volunteers and paid sessional staff to contribute to the delivery of a selection of the activities and workshops.
• To research and continually develop the activities and training programmes to ensure it is responsive to carers needs.
• To create promotional material to promote activities and training opportunities to carers registered with Richmond Carers Centre.
• To work with Adult Carers Support Team Leader to ensure activities are within budget, achieving targets and meeting the requirements of funders.

You will bring your management experience of providing services to women experiencing Domestic Violence and Abuse including VAWG. With a significant experience of managing, developing and leading teams across a geographically dispersed region and remotely, including harnessing the strengths and potential of staff at all levels, building a strong team culture and maintaining staff motivation, particularly through periods of change. You will have substantial delivery of collaborative working with external agencies, stakeholders, subcontracted partners and extensive management of frontline workers
