About the role

This role is a newly created position working within the Youth Access to Immigration Representation and Advice (YAIRA) project providing immigration and asylum support to young people who are in care or are care leavers.  The YAIRA Project was set up by Coram CLC and 4 local authorities – Enfield, Islington, Barnet and Camden - to increase access to representation and advice for children in care and leaving care.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a keen interest in upholding the rights of vulnerable children and young people with experience of the care system who is seeking to progress their legal aid career in the charity sector. The role can be split between working from home/office-based with flexibility as to the balance between the two.

The successful candidate will work alongside a senior caseworker already working on the project and together you will liaise with the local authorities involved in the project to implement an effective referral mechanism for children and young persons in their care and have conduct of and be responsible for a caseload of immigration, asylum and associated human rights law matters concerning children, young people and families referred by the local authorities. You will be expected to provide high quality legal advice, assistance and representation to these clients through legal aid casework.

The candidate will also be involved in providing ad hoc training as required to the local authority partners on areas relating to the immigration needs of children in care and care leavers and as agreed with the local authorities.

When not working on the YAIRA project, the postholder may be asked to provide paralegal casework support to the wider immigration and asylum team.

Work closely with other professionals to ensure appropriate steps are taken to protect where there is an imminent risk to another person. Apply RISE’s escalation procedures.

Be personally accountable for the completion of assessments, mid-way reports, and End of Intervention reports, and ensure they are to a high standard.

Provide support and consultancy to other professionals to ensure appropriateness of referrals and improve understanding on domestic abuse.

Ensure effective planning for the delivery of each intervention with a co-practitioner (if groupwork) in advance of the session.

Participate in and pass the necessary training to be able to deliver all interventions.

Prior to delivering of Domestic Abuse Interventions, liaise and share information with RISE Domestic Abuse Safety Officers to ensure an integrated and culturally sensitive approach is applied to risk management.

Attend monthly risk review meetings with Domestic Abuse Safety Advisor and Senior practitioners to ensure effective risk management procedures are always applied.
Recording and administrative tasks:
•
Ensure timely and accurate recording of all relevant data (attendance, feedback, mid-way and end of intervention reports) using systems provided and in line with performance standards.
•
Maintain an accurate audit trail of all relevant communication with partner organisations involved.
•
Complete specialist risk and vulnerability assessments, and reports as per templates provided.
•
Ensure completion of pre and post questionnaires in line with RISE’s Social Impact strategy.

- Lead and manage workstreams for organisation of Annual Conference, including chairing Working Group meetings, coordinating exhibitions, managing registration, accommodation and catering bookings, venue sourcing, IT and AV requirements and more

Edward Gibbons House is seeking an enthusiastic Senior Substance Misuse Worker to support our amazing residents.

Providence Row Housing Association has been helping homeless people in East London since 1860. We provide social housing along with excellent services that aim to support homeless people with complex needs and enable their recovery. We remain committed to our East London roots and currently serve the communities in Tower Hamlets, Hackney and the City of London.

Our Senior Substance Misuse Worker works alongside members of the support team to create a safe and welcoming environment within a psychologically informed environment. You will contribute to the development of the recovery hub, by providing expertise in alcohol and drug misuse. Taking a lead role in delivering training/ advising staff on substance misuse issues, liaison with substance misuse agencies, facilitating multidisciplinary case conferences and negotiating access to detox and treatment services. Carrying out assessments of drug and alcohol usage with key clients, delivering brief and extended interventions, outlining risks, advice on harm minimisation and refer to specialist agencies.

You will also conduct surveys of residents view and opinions, assist with audits and reporting on the service, help to ensure compliance with regulation and best practice, and work with a Support Team which promotes person centred coproduced approaches.

You need to have experience of working with homeless people with complex needs, have a good understanding of strengths, needs, and risks they experience. Be competent with computer systems, and comfortable completing regular performance reports. The Senior Substance Misuse Worker is a day shift based role with evening and weekend working.

We are recruiting for a qualified Youth Worker to join our Family and Youth Services. You will plan, deliver and evaluate youth club activities for young people and ensure that all safeguarding, regulatory and health & safety requirements are met. Actively engaging with young people in informal learning opportunities that promote their physical, mental, social and emotional development.

This role requires a minimum of 2 years experience of leading youthwork sessions, either centre-based and/or detached. The candidate must have a minimum of a Level 3 Youth Work qualification or equivalent, and must be a driver due to the delivery of detached work on the Y Bus. In addition the role requires evening work during Term Time.

Key responsibilities:

• To actively engage with young people aged 10 to 18 in a wide range of youth work programmes that promote personal and social development
• To plan, deliver and evaluate our YMCA East Surrey Youth Work offering
• Coordinate YMCA’s detached programme – Y Bus and Street Talk including liaising with partner agencies. This includes driving our Y Bus.
• Coordinate YMCA’s holiday programme including applying for funding and delivering residentials.
• To oversee part time staff and volunteers, providing professional support and guidance.
• Delivering information, advice, and guidance to young people referring to specialist agencies where appropriate
• To meet with young people and set an action plan to assist with their social and personal development.
• To record and collect data with various tools and to use this to evaluate the effectiveness of youth work programmes.
• Involve young people in co-production of all the youth work undertaken
• Liaise with local partners and stakeholders in schools, the voluntary and statutory sectors to enhance the coherence, range, reach and quality of services for young people.
• To supervise the activity environment to ensure physical and emotional/personal safety for all children and young people attending

Our location

We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail. But one thing we have learned from the pandemic, is that we are able to work very effectively from home. In this role, there is plenty of scope for doing that, although there will be times when you will need to be at face-to-face meetings and the charity meets four times a year in the office at our mandatory 'All Staff Together' days. The new Head of Prospect Development and Operations (PDO) will sit on the Development and Alumni Relations Management Team, using prospect research to systematically drive success in the University’s fundraising activity. The role supports all philanthropic and alumni engagement activity across the department.  They will lead a team of two, directing prospect research for maximum strategic benefit and identifying novel ways of approaching potential prospects. The new Head of PDO will also lead the department’s database operations (CRM Raiser’s Edge NXT), turning vital data into useful information, including specialist financial reports. They will improve usage of the database, manipulating it and customising it to a high level. The post-holder will have the opportunity to make a transformative difference to UAL’s development infrastructure, in advance of the University’s upcoming fundraising campaign.
