Dartington Service Design Lab is a national charity that harnesses experience, cutting edge evidence and design to tackle the challenges children and young people face today, securing thriving futures for tomorrow. As we move forward with our refreshed strategy, we are looking for a new Director of Finance and Operations to join our Senior Leadership Team.

This is a unique opportunity to lead the Lab’s operational heart; from finance and governance to people, culture, IT and compliance. You'll work closely with the CEO and leadership team to ensure our infrastructure is not only effective and efficient, but enabling of bold, systemic work across the UK. The role balances high level financial strategy and organisational leadership with routine financial reporting, oversight of day-to-day operations and actively supporting team wellbeing. It will suit someone confident operating strategically at an Executive and Board level, but who’s also comfortable rolling up their sleeves in a small, agile organisation.

We are seeking someone with significant experience in finance and operations leadership, ideally in a non-profit, consultancy or values driven setting, who is committed to equity, anti-racism, and social justice. The Recruitment team is responsible for sourcing, selecting and hiring for 500 places for Approach Social Work (previously known as the Frontline programme) in local authorities across England.

You will be joining us at our busiest time, and will have day to day logistical and administration responsibilities with focus on supporting applicants through the selection stages of our programme, Approach Social Work.

You will work with the Selection team and share responsibilities between other Selection Coordinators to ensure the delivery of a highly effective and efficient recruitment process and to ensure the candidate experience is positive throughout. The role is office based in Victoria and / or Paddington but requires travel across the borough of Westminster. 

Our client has an opportunity for a Housing Operations Officer to join their team and effectively manage their portfolio of properties. This is a varied role where you will get involved with rent accounts, tenancy signups, managing rent increases and general enquiries. This role also involves ensuring we are managing our portfolio based on contractual agreements as well as timely invoicing.

As a small team, you will be called upon to support with voids and repairs during times of team holidays and absence. 

With good general social housing experience, administration and communication skills you will be highly organised and have a meticulous approach to work, ensuring all records are accurately filed and kept up to date. You’ll have experience of working in an office environment and have good IT skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint. You’ll be customer-focused with the ability to build working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and be adaptable to any changes in the work priorities.

As EA to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), this role has a primary focus in providing comprehensive administrative support to the COO, in collaboration with the wider Directors’ office team and the COO’s direct reports.

They will be responsible for delivery of smart and strategic diary management for the COO and handling administrative tasks on the COO’s behalf. This role will provide varying levels of support for the Finance & Audit Committee, NT Food & Drink Board, Enterprises Board, and the Financial Planning Group. This will be done in close collaboration with the key contacts (internal and external), including, where appropriate, acting as central point for preparation of related papers, meeting scheduling; comprehensive minute-taking may also be required.

A key organisational focus over the next year will be delivery of substantive capital and improvement works. The EA will play a central and strategic role in the organisation and oversight of the related administrative complexities.

In addition to having primary responsibility to the COO, this role will provide administrative support to the Legal team, including invoice and expenses management, and diary co-ordination where required.

The successful candidate will have the following: 

• Considerable experience in an EA / PA or senior-level equivalent administrative capacity within an Executive environment (business or charity sector)
• Exceptional administrative and organisational skills, with a focus on complex and strategic diary management
• Excellent communication (in all mediums), interpersonal, and organisational skills, including building and maintaining key relationships in a senior space
• Proven experience in safeguarding sensitive and confidential information accordingly, with a core understanding of prioritisation
• Experience in formal minuting and report drafting

About the role and you

The key purpose of this role is to:

• Effectively manage a portfolio or grants across all of our priority areas

The new Grants Manager will need to be genuinely interested in grantmaking in our priority areas and will have the curiosity to learn and develop new areas of knowledge and expertise. You will need to be able to demonstrate a passion for the work of small, grassroots organisations, have emotional intelligence and strong communications skills, and also be genuinely excited about joining our team. 

This could be the right opportunity for a range of potential candidates. We value the knowledge and expertise gained through lived experience of social injustice alongside sector experience. We’re not looking for a seasoned grant maker but you will need to bring commitment to our work and vision, demonstrate experience of seeking to bring about change on tough issues, and have experience of one or more of our priority areas.

Corporate Partnership Officer

£30,413 - £32,699 per annum  

Our client is looking to appoint a Corporate Partnerships Officer who will help bring companies into long term relationships. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, entrepreneurial individual who wants to demonstrate how building relationships with the corporate sector can deliver results, improve patient care, and reduce illness. You’ll be trusted to work autonomously to develop and implement your own ideas on engaging your portfolio of partners and delivering events. You’ll report to and work closely with the Deputy Director of Development. 

Purpose and scope 

Responsibilities  

• Managing your own individual portfolio of existing and prospective corporate partners 

• Stewarding your portfolio through organising 1-1 meetings and cultivation events 

• Developing high-quality funding proposals with the support of relevant project teams 

• Identifying new opportunities to secure corporate support through research and networking 

• Undertaking due diligence on prospective corporate supporters and ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and legislation including the ABPI Code of Practice 

• Supporting the delivery of the corporate partnership programme of activities 

• Ensuring corporate partners are thanked/recognised in an appropriate and timely manner 

• Ensuring that database records for corporate supporters and prospects are up-to-date, accurate and adhere to data protection law and best practice

• Confidence in maintaining and establishing relationships at a senior level

Key responsibilities for the Account Management Officer role include:

• Stewardship of Funders: Manage and streamline communications with STEM Learning’s growing group of funders.

• Effective Communication: Correspond with funders using creative and engaging methods.
• Creating “Wow” Moments: Build personal connections between funders and STEM Learning’s mission.
• Collaboration: Work with internal stakeholders to ensure effective partnership delivery.
• Impact Evidence: Leverage STEM Learning’s impact evidence and collaborate with the Evaluation Team.
• Growth and Renewals: Ensure the growth and renewal of existing partnerships.
• New Partnerships: Work with the Fundraising Development team on pitches and ensure a smooth handover of new wins.

Ideal skills and experience:

• Track record in building and sustaining exceptional relationships with supporters and funders

• Specialist knowledge of the trends and developments in the sector completed through relevant training is desirable. In the role, you will need to stay up to date on relevant press and industry news.
