Job Title: Children and Family Worker
Location: Based on site in West London (This location is hidden due to the sensitive nature of the service) Unfortunately this service does not have step free access.
Salary: £27,007.50
Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week on a rolling rota Monday to Friday between 07:30 - 15:30, 09:00 - 17:00 and 11:30 - 19:30 with occasional Saturdays, at least one Saturday every 3 months between 09:00 - 17:00.
About the role
Are you passionate about providing safe and stable accommodation to women and children escaping domestic abuse? Wanting to help make a difference and provide specialist support to them to gain greater independence? This might be the role for you.
As a Children and Family worker, you will be based within our Women's Refuge service, supporting women and children up to the age of 15 who have escaped domestic abuse. You will deliver trauma-informed, child and family centred support to promote safety and wellbeing, working collaboratively with mothers to strengthen the parent-child relationship during a time of crisis. You will support with both emotional and practical day-to-day support. This is typically done through key work sessions, risk assessments, and empowerment focused activities.
You will play a vital role in supporting families, being the sole specialist within the service, which gives you autonomy to shape the role based on your expertise and experience. You will lead on child-focused support, as well as working part of the wider team to provide the support to mothers. You will deliver a range of support for children and young people, as well as family and parenting support.
About you
We are looking for someone who has a real passion to support families and children who have experienced domestic abuse. You will have a trauma-informed understanding of domestic abuse and the impact it has on families, and will be able to engage in sensitive conversations, recognising signs on trauma, and being proactive to support families to overcome this. This is a hands-on, active role, ideal for someone who is creative, energetic, and passionate about working directly with families. You will be a team player, able to collaborate and provide support to colleagues as needed.
- A background in working with adults and children, particularly from trauma affected backgrounds
- Experience in supporting mothers in helping children transition to new schools
- Proven ability to plan and deliver engaging play sessions, after school activities, and family events as well as religious and national celebrations
- Confidence in working with children who may have behavioural challenges, being able to signpost to early intervention services

About the role
We are seeking a Substance Misuse Worker who has a specialism in mental health and substance use to join our team in Catford. You will be based within a 24 hour service which provides enhanced rehabilitation support to adults who have been diagnosed with severe and enduring mental health, who would benefit from an intensive rehabilitation and recovery-focused approach. Within this role, you will provide specialist knowledge and experience to support the wider team and residents to help them to overcome their personal barriers.
You will deliver evidence-based interventions based on holistic assessments to support personalised recovery, integration, and promotion of independent living skills. You will be a specialist in comorbidity, supporting the team to achieve positive outcomes for our residents. Some of your duties will include:
- Undertake joint holistic assessments, risk assessments, care plans, and interventions to support harm reduction and minimisation.
- Set up realistic and flexible strengths-based support plans, working closely with colleagues and support teams to support and advise on interventions and approaches to meet individual needs.
- Help reduce episodes of crisis and assist residents/participants to access services which can offer alternatives to crisis support.
- Work closely with support staff and clinical teams to support and advise them on interventions and approaches to meet resident/participant comorbid, complex mental health and substance misuse needs.
- Support multi-disciplinary teams and the wider community teams with support, advice, signposting, and move on care planning.
About you
We are looking for someone who has specialist knowledge on how to support individuals with comorbid and complex needs, with experience in interventions, and in a similar role. Qualifications are desirable if paired with practical experience which is relevant to this role. We look at individual characteristics with the ability to engage with various people who may not want to receive the support, able to build trusting professional relationships, and able to demonstrate resilience, solve challenges, and be proactive. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Support and Resident Care
· Undertake key working responsibilities and continuous assessment of needs and potential risks.
· Create support/action plans based on assessments, reflecting available services and resources.
· Provide emotional and practical support to residents in distress or crisis
· Work empathically with residents presenting complex needs such as mental health issues, substance misuse, and safeguarding concerns

Safeguarding and Serious Incident Reporting
There is a clear duty to follow LBL’s safeguarding protocols, including timely reporting of serious and notifiable incidents to the appropriate authorities and participation in safeguarding reviews if required. Night staff will be trained in recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns, including domestic violence and abuse, and understand the escalation routes within the partnership framework.
Safety and Security
· Ensure resident safety by implementing visitor procedures and preventing unauthorised access.
· Conduct health and safety checks and patrols around the building and exterior.
· Monitor CCTV, address antisocial behaviour, and complete relevant reports
· Report repairs and any health and safety issues
Incident and Emergency Procedures
Night staff must be familiar with emergency protocols, including fire safety, evacuation, and business continuity plans, ensuring resident safety and compliance with statutory and contractual requirements.
Administrative Duties
· Update INFORM with relevant details of all resident interactions during shifts.
· Maintain accurate and comprehensive resident records to professional standards.
· Encourage residents to pay rent and ensure rent accounts are managed effectively.
Housing Management and Property Standards
Night Waking Support Workers must conduct regular health and safety checks, report repairs promptly
Professional Development
· Engage in learning and development activities to increase knowledge and skills.
· Develop the ability to defuse and de-escalate challenging behaviour with personal safety awareness.

At the heart of Camden’s response to street homelessness, the Rough Sleepers Hub Assessment Centre at 165 Kings Cross Road plays a vital role in offering people a safe place to begin their journey away from the streets. With 16 beds and a focus on short-term stays, the service aims to support individuals into secure and suitable housing within just 28 days. This is not simply a place to stay; it’s a place where change begins, you will be instrumental in making that change possible.
Working within a psychologically informed and trauma-aware environment, you’ll support people facing some of the most entrenched challenges in society. You’ll take the lead on a caseload, carrying out in-depth assessments and building support plans shaped around each individual’s unique circumstances. This includes creating tailored interventions that address a range of support needs your clients may face; from and physical health difficulties, to substance use, trauma and experiences with the criminal justice system. You’ll help residents with practical daily tasks, support their engagement with training and employment opportunities, and collaborate with a wide network of professionals including Connect Forward, In Roads and Camden Routes off The Streets to offer truly holistic support.

At the heart of Camden’s mission to end rough sleeping, the Gray's Inn Road project offers short-stay accommodation for 16 individuals experiencing some of the most challenging periods in their lives. Funded by the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities and the Greater London Authority, and delivered in partnership with One Housing Group and Camden Council, this service plays a pivotal role in ensuring rough sleeping in Camden is not only rare but brief and not repeated. Residents typically stay between three to six months, during which time the focus is on creating pathways into safe, sustainable housing and renewed independence.
You’ll be part of a dynamic, forward-thinking team dedicated to delivering trauma-informed, psychologically informed support. You’ll work closely with clients facing overlapping challenges including homelessness, poor physical and mental health, substance use, trauma and histories with the criminal justice system. With your own caseload, you’ll conduct in-depth assessments, build tailored support plans and facilitate interventions that reflect the needs, strengths and aspirations of each person. Every day brings new opportunities to connect people with education, training or employment, to help them rebuild practical life skills, and to foster progress towards long-term goals.

The Children’s Worker will work with churches and primary schools to create worship and discipleship opportunities for children. As part of their role, the Children’s Worker will work as part of the wider Places Project team, with specific involvement in a Year 6 transition programme in primary schools.

Richmond AID have 3 main advice teams: Information Navigation, Benefits Advice and Money Advice. We also administer a number of grants on behalf of local grant giving charities and the local authority. Our teams are busier than ever and this role will play a vital part in supporting the team with administration tasks including; taking client enquiries from the phone, website and email and uploading them to our database, scanning and photocopying.
You will spend your time working directly with clients with a range of physical, sensory and mental health impairments to help them to fill in grant allocation forms and other forms and helping people to know their rights. You will also support our advice teams administratively; arranging appointments, sending emails and letters and uploading information to our database.
You will receive training in a range of advice areas (housing, health and social care, benefits, transport and travel) as well as other relevant topics such as various mental health conditions, managing challenging behaviour, professional boundaries, and case management. You will be supported by a friendly team of experienced advisers who will have the opportunity to shadow and you will also have access to a range of external training and development opportunities.
You will need to have clear written and oral communication skills as you will need to make phone calls and write emails and letters to clients as well as providing progress updates to the team.

Future Foundations is an education programme of Katherine Low Settlement. Since 2004, KLS’ Future Foundations education team of 10 part-time staff and over 100 volunteers, have supported young refugees and their families in Battersea and the London Borough of Wandsworth to thrive in their education. We are looking for a Youth Worker to join our Youth Work team, working both on the Roundhouse Studios front desk as well as on our youth focussed projects.
