Job description

The Business Engagement Manager will be responsible for building relationships between The Clare Foundation and Buckinghamshire based businesses, to encourage and develop better partnership working between businesses and the charity sector. The post holder will create our new Helping Businesses Programme, which is an integral part of TCF’s three-pronged strategic vision: Helping Charities, Helping People and Helping Businesses in Buckinghamshire, making it an even more thriving and happy county to work and live in.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for creating and owning the Helping Businesses programme by generating new business contacts and collaborative opportunities to increase Corporate Social Responsibility in Buckinghamshire

  • Conduct research and suggest new ideas or initiatives for CSR type proposals that will have a significantly positive impact on the environment and local communities

  • Set up a series of roundtable discussion events with local businesses, agencies, county authorities, organisations and charities to listen to their needs and challenges

  • Organise networking and training for businesses and charities to encourage positive collaboration and sustainable partnerships

  • Provide a series of seminars/workshops that provide specific help and insight for charities on how to engage with businesses, build rapport and maintain relationships

  • Represent the charity at corporate events and continue to build a network of relationships with external strategic corporate partners

  • Monitor the progress of projects and programmes assessing results against initial plans

  • Support the Trustee Matching programme

  • Prepare related progress reports and quarterly Board papers for the CEO

  • Provide information, media and associated materials for TCF’s communications team

  • Maximise publicity for the network and promote successful interventions

  • Become a local member of organisations such as CSRA, Chamber of Commerce and Buckinghamshire Business First (BBF) to build mutually beneficial relationships that enable TCF to gain exposure and traction.

Other Responsibilities

  • Occasionally able to work evenings and weekends as required or appropriate

  • Any other reasonable tasks requested and deemed appropriate by the CEO

Person Specification/Key Competencies

Requirements

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a charity, public or corporate role

  • Some knowledge of the business and charity sector in Buckinghamshire

  • Own car and full clean UK driving licence

  • Ability to map, organise, create and deliver successful programmes and projects

  • Flexible and adaptable, able to respond to the changing needs of the organisation

  • Able to manage a diverse workload, deliver outcomes and remain calm under pressure.

  • Articulate, with excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver clear messages to a range of stakeholders, partners and staff.

  • Reflect the values of our organisation and that of the sector

  • Understanding of the Buckinghamshire Council community strategy and programmes

  • Ongoing commitment to BAME issues, equality, diversity and inclusion and to be a voice for those who are disengaged and vulnerable.
