We have a job vacancy for a Dementia Specialist to join Shine as the Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) / Dementia Coordinator.
Shine has a membership of over 14,000 members living with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus and associated conditions and over 6,500 associated members.
In the last year we have seen a 25% increase in members who are living with Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH) across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. There are currently just over 600 members with NPH, plus their carers registered, but we are expecting this to continue to rise as awareness and diagnosis of the condition grows.
We are looking for an experienced, skilled, organised and dedicated new staff member to join Shine’s Services team to develop and lead our new NPH service.
Purpose of Job
To be the Dementia specialist for Shine.
To provide the foundations for improved health, social and emotional outcomes for adults living with NPH/Dementia and to support their families/carers.

Main purpose of role
We are looking for a professional with at least 5 years’ experience in membership management, stakeholder engagement and events to lead our outreach and engagement activities for the Parkinson’s community across Europe.
Key tasks
- Strategic membership activities including:
- Management of the Parkinson’s Europe Membership Steering Group
- Leading Parkinson’s Europe membership recruitment and diversification
- Reviewing and expanding Parkinson’s Europe membership benefits
- Leading the development, delivery and analysis of the biannual Parkinson’s Europe members survey
- Supporting the Parkinson’s Europe Member Liaison Lead with membership communications
- Outreach and engagement activities including:

The role
As an Operations Manager, you will be responsible for;

In this role you will support adults living with mental health difficulties by providing trauma informed relational peer support, nurturing relationships which are mutual, explorative and share power, helping people to overcome the distress they experience and achieve the goals which are important to them.
You will be responsible for a case load of individuals who you will support either face-to-face or via telephone, on a one-to-one or group basis. You will engage empathically with those you support, providing positive emotional and therapeutic support, through a collaborative approach which focuses on individual strengths rather than deficits, enabling and promoting autonomy and self-care.
Due to the nature of the role, it requires applicants to have personal experience of mental distress to meet the job requirements.
You will work alongside clinical staff and staff from other VCSE organisations to form multidisciplinary team approach to collaboratively support individuals in the community. You will be supported by VCSE Coordinator, Operational Programme Manager and Clinical Lead. CPD opportunities are available and personal interests/skills will be supported to development and growth. Key Responsibilities
· Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, accepting referrals from the MDT for individuals who are identified as benefiting from support. Managing and prioritising your caseload, in accordance with the needs, priorities and any urgent support required.
·Engage empathically with visitors in distress, providing positive emotional and therapeutic support, predominantly face to face but occasionally via telephone.
· Co-create personalised support plans alongside individuals, exploring their health and wellbeing needs, to support them to navigate their experiences of distress.

About the role
Leading on the development of our volunteering offer, practice and culture within our communities teams, including Community Services, Community Fundraising and Campaigning, in Shelter and Shelter Scotland, is the challenge that awaits you here. Improving the safety and life opportunities of the people who use their services and supporting them in their recovery. They support the people they work with to overcome the experiences they have had, empowering them to build up the skills and resources they need to take control of their own lives, access a tenancy of their own and maintain a quality of life in the long term.
We are currently recruiting for 3 Evening / Night Assistant Domestic Abuse Support Workers to join the team on a permanent basis following the successful acquisition of a new Refuge service in Rochdale. This is part time role, working 16.33 hours per week on a 3-week rolling rota.
The role
- To accept new referrals and complete move in procedures for new clients, including supporting flat turnarounds, cleaning, and re-stock to ensure there is no delay in accommodation any referral.
- Ensure the upkeep and security of the building and take responsibility for any cash and equipment.
- Maintaining an understanding and awareness of and adhering to all support plans and risk assessments and to update the Domestic Abuse Support Worker (DASW) of changes to risk or incidents.
- To provide feedback to the DASW regarding tenant's SMART plans and aims achieved, recorded documentation on client database.
- To complete risk assessments for activities both 1-1 and group work, incorporating safety planning, reviewing on a regular basis.
- To work with clients and other staff to devise an annual plan for client involvement, to actively engage the individuals and families within the Rochdale DA safe accommodation service, promoting lived experience involvement in service delivery and improvement.
- Facilitate evening group work and promote, monitor and evaluate involvement sessions in conjunction with the people using services.
- To work in-line with the project's budget, adhering to financial policies and procedures.
- To monitor the security and safety of the premises on an ongoing basis, including CCTV, front door entry system and alarm system.
- To be responsible and accountable for the efficient recording, storing and maintaining of client records including contact notes, correspondence, incident reporting, handovers, risk updates and outcomes achieved.
- Record and manage any anti-social behaviour or neighbour nuisance and respond appropriately according to escalation procedure.
- Address any instances of non-engagement or perceived obstacles to support via a trauma informed approach.
- To actively promote the service and the organisation.
- To ensure GDPR, confidentiality and professional boundaries are upheld in all aspects of daily practice.
The candidate
- Relevant qualification in Domestic Abuse / IDVA / ISVA or equivalent diploma / degree / NVQ 3 or equivalent work level experience and the willingness to achieve a level 3 qualification.
- An extensive understanding of individuals and families who have or are experiencing domestic abuse.
- Knowledge of working as part of a team, working on own initiative and managing time effectively.
- Ability and knowledge of planning, promoting, or delivering group work sessions with evaluation.
- Knowledge of providing support on agreed outcomes of assessment support plans.
- Knowledge of assessing and implementing risk assessments, including DASH Ric.
- Knowledge of the impact of multiple disadvantages, complex support needs and homelessness.
- Knowledge of welfare benefits and relative legislation.

The Role
You will support the contract delivery of the Champions programmes, ensuring contract milestones are met. The Operations Volunteering Experience Coordinator helps people with sight loss live the life they choose by ensuring volunteers in Operations-based roles are set up for success by preparing and training them for their role. Without our volunteers, none of our services would be possible.

A typical fortnight would include days working from the office, days in the community, and some home working. The role holder will manage the time and location of their working days.
