Job Title: Support Coach

Location: Havering, Close to Harold Wood Elizabeth Line station. Please note that this service does not have step free access. 

Salary: £27,000

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Sunday on a rota varying between 08:00 - 21:30 which includes 12.5 hour shifts with 1 hour unpaid break, approximately 3 shifts per week. You may need to be flexible on these hours as per service requirements.

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Support Coach to join our new Independent Approved Premises (IAP) on day shifts with a rolling rota. You will support residents recently released from prison in a residential setting, helping them reintegrate into the community. You will work with residents to create tailored support plans, identify their needs, goals, and skills, and motivate them to reach their potential. You will encourage engagement in activities and the community, provide tools for life skills, and ensure effective risk management with a strong focus on public protection.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of residents and participants at all times
• Engaging with residents, ensuring they are adhering to their license conditions. This may include planning activities to engage them with other people, communities, and opportunities
• Be a valued and reliable member of the team, completing handovers for night colleagues for a seamless service
• Building trusting professional relationships with residents, helping them to achieve their goals and aspirations which could be through tailored one to one sessions, group sessions, in and out of service activities, and general wellbeing check ins
• Focusing on empowering our residents to take control over their lives and meet their personal goals

• Cultural awareness, Self-awareness, and ability to identify personal growth areas and take feedback

The Role

About You

• The ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships

The Management Accountant is responsible for ensuring that the staff and Trustees are supplied with timely, accurate and relevant financial information. This includes budgets for the Museum, trading subsidiary, individual departments and capital and revenue projects as necessary, as well as quarterly management accounts, cash flow and forecast, with additional analyses and reports as necessary.

This is a demanding post requiring attention to detail, the ability to take an overview and to make progress with several tasks in parallel. The Finance team is headed by the Finance Director and in addition to the Management Accountant there is a Finance Manager and Finance Assistant.  The Museum employs around 80 members of staff (48 FTE).

Key responsibilities:

· Preparation of management reports, accurate quarterly forecasts and assistance with preparation of the year-end financial statements.

· Preparation of information for regular and ad hoc returns to DCMS and other external bodies.

· Ensure compliance with donor restrictions, public and charitable sector regulations and guidelines.

· Analysis of Museum-wide income and expenditure streams to monitor and improve efficiency and profitability.

· Provide and review financial information for funding applications.

· Key to the successful execution of these duties would be an understanding of financial information in relationship to the activities of the Museum and to explain these clearly to the Senior Management Team and Trustees.

· To provide the Board of Directors of the trading subsidiary, Soane Museum Enterprises, with relevant financial and management accounting information and to attend the quarterly meetings as required.

· With the Finance Director, ensure compliance with the Treasury publication ‘Managing Public Money’, Financial Reporting Manual (FReM), the Framework Document issued by DCMS, Cabinet Office control of Civil Service Pensions and the Statement of Recommended Practice on Accounting and Reporting by Charities (SORP FRS 102).

· As part of the finance team, work with the auditors of the Museum and SME and the internal auditor.

· To work with the Finance Director liaising with DCMS on financial and other matters and developing a good working relationship. This includes completion of annual and other reports including the Museum’s submissions for the periodic Spending Reviews.

· To maintain financial and internal control systems, mindful of the requirements of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee, internal audit and the NAO. 

· To provide papers in a timely manner for meetings of the Trustees and their Finance, Audit and Risk Committee and to attend meetings, as required.

· To contribute financial expertise to Museum-wide projects and initiatives.

· Work one day a quarter on the weekend rota to support front of house staff (for which TOIL is given). 

Person Specification

· Educated to degree level or equivalent experience with an accountancy qualification ACA/CIMA.

· Good technical knowledge of relevant Accounting Standards.

(Knowledge of government accounting would also be desirable.)

· Experience ideally within the charity/not-for-profit sector or an understanding of compiling charity SORP and company accounts.

· A broad understanding of VAT requirements (including partial exemption methods) and other taxation issues such as the operation of Gift Aid in the charity sector and corporation tax within trading subsidiaries.

· Excellent communication skills with a willingness to take a hands-on approach. The Museum has only a small staff covering a multitude of disciplines working closely together in a cooperative environment.

· An ability to prioritise workload and use initiative with problem solving skills and attention to detail.

-      Excellent IT skills, including advanced Excel, and a working knowledge of accounting systems, preferably with direct experience of Sage.

-     An interest in the museum sector.

Remuneration

This is a 3 days a week post at a salary of £23,735 pa, (£39,558 FTE)

16 days annual leave plus (pro-rata of 26.5 days) and pro-rata Bank and public holidays  

Museum staff can choose to join an excellent, defined benefits pension scheme, the Principal Civil Service Scheme Alpha. The Museum provides an annual season ticket loan.

We have Hybrid Working and this post-holder can work for 1 day a week at home, on the completion of the 6 month probationary period.

Our policy allowing flexible start and finish times means that staff can choose to start work between 8.00am and 10.00 am in the morning and finish correspondingly between 4.00pm and 6.00pm.

Around 30% of Surrey’s emissions are from commercial premises, and whilst SMEs are agile, and can collaboratively make significant reductions in Surrey’s overall carbon footprint, they often lack the resource, knowledge and funding to take action. This project aims to support 30+ small businesses by providing high level energy assessments which give actionable recommendations to reduce energy use, bills and improve sustainability. 

Zero Carbon Guildford is a Surrey-based charity tackling environmental challenges with practical, local solutions that make a real difference. From supporting energy efficiency in homes to monitoring water quality and reducing food waste, we’re helping to make Guildford and Surrey greener, healthier, and fairer places to live.

• Provide high level on-site energy assessments and written reports with energy saving and decarbonisation recommendations to micro and small businesses in Surrey.

Job Summary

When someone goes missing, Missing People provides help to families, friends and professional carers who wish to publicise their appeal. This can be through the charity’s website resources, appeals and opportunities for publicity in the media.

You will support families, friends and professional carers to make appeals when someone has officially been reported as missing. The role will involve communicating in a timely, compassionate and knowledgeable manner with people experiencing the trauma of missing someone and managing families’ initial expectations of the service. You will assess the most appropriate activities to safeguard and reconnect the missing person and be responsible for police liaison and updates. You will assess with families the use of public display publicity which may begin after 3 days and help families to understand what they can do themselves. You will work closely with the Communications team, providing them with accurate and timely information if publicity is the appropriate choice. You will also access and process 'Urgent missing’ requests and work with the Communications team to make the alert happen.

You will understand the needs of longer-term families who still want to publicise their missing person, and you will advocate on their behalf to help make sure their voice is heard.

You will work collaboratively with specialists in Family Support, Publicity, Helpline and Fundraising & Communications teams to support the families and missing people we are here to help.

Key Accountabilities:

Service delivery

• Assess and process incoming requests from, family members, friends and professional carers and agree the most suitable support and publicity actions. Manage requests with high standards of accuracy, risk and criteria management, data management, and confidentiality;
• Risk assess all contacts to ensure any safeguarding issues in relation to the missing person or their family members are dealt with effectively. Participate in safeguarding decision making and implement safeguarding procedures.
• Handle sensitive interactions, deal with crisis intervention situations, assess risk within Missing People policy and consult where appropriate

Team Working and external communications

• Ensure families are aware of all the services on offer to them, working collaboratively with other members of the team to provide a smooth transition into Family Support and Publicity
• Work closely with IT, Impact, Family Support, Publicity and helpline teams identifying data issues,
• Communicate updates and signpost into Missing People’s services, initiatives, engagement opportunities, events and activities to family members and other people affected by a disappearance

Volunteer supervision and support

• Train volunteers on shift in identified tasks. Provide clear written instructions and demonstrate the task through examples and shadowing.
• Monitor volunteer work on shift to ensure good record keeping, professional communication, appropriate safeguarding and accuracy

• Experience of working in a frontline service delivering advice, help or support to vulnerable people by phone or digitally;
• Experience and/or demonstrable understanding of safeguarding vulnerable adults and/or young people;
• Experience of working with a range of internal and external stakeholders including volunteers, other teams and the police or other statutory services.

Abilities, Skills and Knowledge:

• Ability to risk assess, make welfare and needs assessment and take appropriate safeguarding and contact care actions.
• Knowledge of the issues surrounding missing children and vulnerable adults;
• Aware of and sensitive to the impact of class, gender and race and to be willing to act appropriately;
• An ability to navigate the issues and nuances of working with people experiencing trauma in a way that centers their needs with an expert but open approach.
