A Hybrid Role

This role will work across both frontline delivery and input into the administration of the Duty system that underpins all HHPA’s work. It’s anticipated the worker’s role will be split roughly 50/50 across both elements of the work. Having a staff member working across both will give us a valuable insight into how frontline and Duty can work better together.  It is also a good opportunity for the worker to gain experience in all aspects of project delivery, which could be a valuable first step for anyone interested in project management or leadership.

The Duty work

The HHPA Duty Team makes sure the Homeless Health Peer Advocacy service runs safely and smoothly. They handle bookings from partner organisations, match referrals with Peer Advocates, and organise all the practical details – like booking transport, giving travel directions, and confirming who will attend each appointment. They use a specially designed Salesforce database to keep track of appointments, update records, and measure the impact of the service. A key part of their job is running the Duty System, which checks Peer Advocates in and out of jobs so that everyone is safe and supported.

The team is also the main point of contact for partners, frontline staff, and volunteers. They answer questions, make sure referrals have all the right information, and keep everything running to schedule. They look after data security, maintain good relationships with partner agencies, and make sure volunteers and workers have what they need to do their work well. By taking care of the behind-the-scenes work, the Duty Team frees up the frontline team to focus on supporting people to attend healthcare appointments and improve their health.

The pan-London Caseworker work

We need this role to support people experiencing homelessness in Boroughs where support needs are extremely high, but where we don't have the capacity or flexibility through our other funding to meet their needs. Most of our Caseworkers are funded by individual Boroughs and can only work in that area.  This role will be able to work in any of the Boroughs where we deliver HHPA so will give us the flexibility to go to where the need is greatest rather than being fixed in a single local authority area. As a more senior role in our HHPA service, the Caseworker will use their skills and experience to focus on people in the most complex and difficult situations, including those grappling multiple connected issues around physical and mental health, addiction, trauma, disabilities, and more.

We are looking for a highly engaging Volunteering and Community Partnerships Manager to lead and grow on the recruitment, development and retention of our pool of volunteers. You will work across the team to ensure all volunteers are well-supported, feel valued, and are making meaningful contributions to the charities mission. You will also plan and organise a calendar of fundraising and community events for the charity.

Step-Out Mentoring is an early intervention mentoring organisation that provides support for children and young people in the heart of South London through outdoor based 1:1 mentoring and group workshops. Our mentors are all volunteers from the community who are trained to become youth mentors and matched to young people for weekly mentoring sessions.

About the role

About you

To be successful in this role you must have demonstrable experience of developing and implementing a plan to grow Trust & Grant income, successfully meeting or exceeding fundraising targets from a variety of funders and experience managing relationships with statutory funders and trust and foundations. You will have experience of managing fundraisers and supporting them to manage their priorities and portfolios. You will have experience of measuring and monitoring income and expenditure, and team performance.

Adapting the charity’s message for a range of internal and external audiences will be second nature to you. You will be passionate about working closely with volunteers to inform our strategic direction and advocacy efforts. You will bring with you experience of implementing strategic communications,  with knowledge of email marketing, paid-for advertising and social media.  

In a typical week, you might be working with a member of our Youth Panel or Stambassador Network to create content for an upcoming outreach campaign or preparing them for a media appearance. You may be liaising with some of our community fundraisers as they prepare for their upcoming challenge event, and working with the CEO on communicating the impact of our various projects.  

But regardless of the channel or the message, your attention to detail, writing and presentation skills will be flawless, and you’ll bring a creativity and enthusiasm that helps to cultivate our existing supporters and connect with new ones.

Salary: £27,320 FTE per annum, inclusive of Inner London Weighting £10,928.00 pro-rata per annum, inclusive of Inner London Weighting)

Location: Greenwich.

Hours: 14.8 hours/week (Thursday 9-5pm, Friday 9-5pm)

Contract: Fixed term till 31 March 2026, with possibility of extension.

FOOD Club Assistant and Driver will support all aspects of the day-to-day running of the programme, to ensure the clubs have high standards of service delivery.

You will have previous experience in at least one of the following environments: retail, health & safety, environmental health, education and/or previous work with families

You will have an enthusiasm for delivering high quality customer service and have a clear understanding of food hygiene standards and procedures.

Main Responsibilities:

Our FOOD (Food On Our Doorstep) programme aims to: provide regular access to a sustainable supply of food to people at risk of food insecurity; encourage families to access local support services and be signposted to other agencies; increase disposable income for local families to improve life chances and wellbeing; reduce the amount of food being sent to landfill in the UK by utilising surplus food.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

1. Supporting all aspects of the day-to-day running of the programme to ensure the clubs have high standards of service delivery.

2. Supporting the FOOD Club Coordinator to carry out regular compliance checks to ensure the quality and safety of the service, in order to protect service users and Family Action.

3. Ensuring all aspects of the role are carried out in line with food safety/hygiene standards.

4. Ensure volunteers are using up-to-date allergies forms to prevent any risk to service users.

5. Support the FOOD Club Coordinator with financial checks, stock control, recruitment, induction and training of volunteers.

6. Recording accurate data to enable the FOOD Club Coordinator to report on KPIs, including uptake of the scheme, service user income, and the positive financial impact on families.

7. Encourage regular attendance at FOOD Clubs to ensure income is maintained and to prevent food wastage.

8. Provide regular feedback to the FOOD Club Coordinator on the quality of food and resources from suppliers.

Funded by the Department of Levelling Up Housing and Communities and the Greater London Authority, and delivered in partnership with One Housing Group and Camden Council, this service is still in its early years, giving the next Service Manager the chance to build on strong foundations and lead it into the future.

About you:

• You will have proven experience in leading and directing teams effectively, ensuring a consistent, high-quality, and responsive service.
• Demonstrated capability in building and maintaining strong partnerships with key organisations and stakeholders in the sector.
• Experience of leading teams to deliver client focused support, including detailed assessments, onward referrals, and tailored interventions for individuals facing multiple disadvantages.
• Dedication to safeguarding vulnerable adults, ensuring the quality of risk management plans to reduce and manage risk, whilst creating opportunities to promote independence.
• Experience of embedding and managing continuous improvement in Health & Safety and Housing Management processes to maintain a safe and compliant environment for residents and staff.
