Sounds great, what will I be doing?

The main purpose of this role is to empower a caseload of service users to manage their health and wellbeing, maintain their independence, identify their strengths and achieve their goals and aspirations, under the direction of the Service Manager. This is a 24/7 service and will require you to complete sleep in shifts as well as cooking for service users at the weekends as well. This can result in longer but few days worked but you will on average only work 39 hours per week.

In this role, you will bring experience of working with individuals who have mental health needs and dual diagnosis, gained in either paid or voluntary settings. You will be committed to working in a calm, non-judgemental, and anti-discriminatory way, with an optimistic belief in each client's capacity for positive change. You will take a solution-focused approach, working constructively and collaboratively to address challenges, while using de-escalation skills to support clients who may display difficult or challenging behaviour.

You will also demonstrate flexibility and reliability, with the ability to work unsociable hours, including early, late, overnight and weekend shifts as required by the rota. You will be quick to learn, able to gather and process information effectively, make defensible decisions, and record detailed and accurate information to be shared appropriately within the framework of confidentiality. Most importantly, you will show a strong understanding of safeguarding, ensuring that issues are identified and addressed promptly to maintain the safety and wellbeing of service users at all times.

Sebastien discovered ClientEarth while studying anthropology and law at university. Since joining ClientEarth as a Philanthropy Officer, Sebastien has progressed to the Philanthropy Manager position where he supports and oversees two members of the Philanthropy Team. He has found that working in the Philanthropy Team has been a fantastic way to support ClientEarth's mission while learning about the world and developing skills in relationship management and communication. 

Main Duties

• Actively manage donor relationships across assigned portfolio of largely UK supporters with first class stewardship and reporting to secure renewals and uplifts of approximately £500,000 pa.
• Support with oversight of engagement with supporters ranging from £10,000 - £50,000. Galvanise and coordinate the European Philanthropy team to identify opportunities to uplift giving and ensure all supporters feel valued.

• Experience of providing best practice donor stewardship and relationship development with demonstrable evidence of securing or managing five and six figure gifts
• Experience of identifying, cultivating and soliciting prospects
• Experience of raising funds from donors in different geographies
• Ability to write compelling communications materials including fundraising campaigns, donor reports, and proposals

Role Overview:
The Talent Set is working with a leading charity to recruit a Major Donor Manager on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced major gifts fundraiser to lead and grow a well-established programme. The successful candidate will take ownership of strategy, personally cultivate and secure high-value gifts, and provide leadership to a small team. The role also offers the chance to work closely with senior stakeholders and play a key part in driving forward long-term philanthropic support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Personally cultivate relationships with high-net-worth individuals to secure gifts of £50k+
• Lead the major donor team to prioritise new business opportunities and manage a robust prospect pipeline
• Design and deliver tailored supporter journeys through an effective moves-management process
• Collaborate with colleagues to create innovative donor engagement products and events
• Leverage existing donor networks to identify and secure new prospects
• Monitor activity and track progress using the fundraising database
• Manage and grow a personal portfolio of active major donors, ensuring multi-year commitments are secured
• Provide oversight and guidance to direct reports on their donor portfolios
• Inspire and influence donors through compelling proposals and presentations
• Deliver accurate and timely reports, impact updates, and stewardship materials
• Line-manage a small team, offering coaching, support, and clear direction
• Foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and accountability within the team
• Work with senior leaders and Trustees to strengthen donor engagement
• Represent at high-profile meetings and events to build networks
• Support cross-team fundraising campaigns and appeals
• Organise and attend donor visits, including project-related travel where required
• Ensure data is accurately recorded and communications are logged
• Produce monthly activity, financial, and KPI reports for senior stakeholders

Person Specification:

• Proven track record of securing significant donations from new major donors
• Strong experience in stewarding and upgrading existing donor relationships
• Demonstrable success in developing innovative donor engagement approaches and pitches
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire at all levels
• Skilled at working alongside senior leaders and Trustees in a leadership-led fundraising model
• Experience in managing and motivating staff, fostering innovation and achieving team objectives
• Strong financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and analysing performance
• Ability to problem-solve and drive improvements in working practices

If so, join St Giles as a Key Worker, where you will play an integral part in the new specialist multi-agency and multi-disciplinary Young Persons Team in Wolverhampton, providing a high-level service to vulnerable or at-risk young people (11-25) and their families across the different levels of need and support, from early help to children and young people in care.

About this key role

As a proactive member of the multi-disciplinary team, our successful candidate will share best practice with other team members in relation to approaches and strategies to support and engage young people and their families to achieve best outcomes, plus work collaboratively to develop plans of support and promote programmes of social education, activities, support, advice, and information, using a range of multi-sensory methods.

We will count on you to build positive relationships and promote the value of lifestyle changes to the client group and their families and to ensure that the voice of the child and young person remains central to their support and that they are proactively encouraged to build and contribute to their own programmes.  You will contribute to multi-disciplinary assessments of children and families in need of support and provide both proactive planned programmes of support and an intensive service which will include interventions to support emotional wellbeing and health and substance misuse; creative arts activities; support responding risks of criminal, gang and/or sexual exploitation; mentoring; and sports activities. Maintaining accurate records of support and interventions is also a key duty.

What we are looking for

• Experience of engaging successfully with challenging people
• Experience in negotiating with partner agencies to establish links to further the aims of the project
• Experience of working to targets and recording information for performance monitoring
•  An understanding of the client group and the challenges and motivations of young people
• Sound knowledge of using monitoring systems to record all aspects of the project
• Able to recognise the signs of child sexual exploitation (CSE) and take appropriate action
• Ability to set up and operate systems to monitor and report on work
• Excellent IT, interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
