The Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants (JCWI) is an independent charity established in 1967. For over 57 years, we have promoted our vision of a society in which people can live safely and are treated with equal dignity and respect, regardless of where they are from or how they came to the UK.
To achieve this, we provide legal advice, representation and holistic support to migrants experiencing injustice, poverty, and discrimination; we undertake parliamentary advocacy and expert policy analysis; we speak out and challenge damaging and discriminatory media narratives about immigration; we use law as a tool of resistance; we work in solidarity with migrants and grassroots groups, and we build campaigns that both build power and influence power; working towards radically transforming immigration and asylum law and policy.
JCWI has been through a period of transition over recent years, with pressures on the organisation, its staff, capacity, and resources increased by successive political attacks on migrant communities, the eroding of migrants’ rights through legal and policy change, the rise of the far-right in the UK and the widening gap between the rich and powerful and Britain’s multi-racial working class.
It is in this context that JCWI is seeking an empathetic and collaborative leader given we are in a time of immense political upheaval both in the UK and across borders. We need someone who can unite us towards a refreshed collective resistance to increasingly unfettered state and corporate power.
The successful candidate is likely to have a sound grasp of the key issues JCWI works on and the political climate in which the organisation operates, to provide confident leadership and strategic guidance to all teams, and to maintain and build relationships with key stakeholders. This includes setting and reviewing the organisation's objectives within the framework of the five-year strategy, developing and reviewing the annual business plan and fundraising plan, maintaining JCWl's relationships with trusts, foundations, and other key partners, and acting as one of the lead spokespeople for the organisation in the media and elsewhere.
JCWI has a proud history of leadership from racialised people and people with lived experience of the immigration system, and therefore we strongly encourage applications from people with lived experience of the immigration system and those who are representative of the communities we work with. We also welcome applications from anyone who has faced marginalisation or oppression, including people of colour, people who identify as LGBTQIA+, disabled people, and/or people who are working class or from working class backgrounds.
How to Apply
Application is by way of CV with a Supporting Statement of no more than two sides of A4, that should set out your motivations for applying and outlines your suitability for the role as set out in the job description as well as how you meet the person specification.

The Choir with No Name London – Choir Manager
Part time (20 hours per week)
£35,057.32 (pro rata)
One-year fixed term with possibility of extension
About us:
The Choir with No Name runs choirs and builds joyful singing communities with people impacted by homelessness and marginalisation, around the UK. We currently have choirs in Birmingham, Liverpool, London, Brighton, Coventry, Cardiff and Sheffield.
We were founded on the premise that singing makes you feel good - it helps you to build confidence, skills and genuine, long-lasting friendships. Our choir members are people who have experienced homelessness, or who are going through a tough time in their lives. Our choirs are a supportive, safe space for people to be among friends, where they can experience the joy of singing together, have fun, build confidence and skills, and feel more able to tackle life's other challenges, such as securing housing or finding work.
What we do is simple: our choirs meet once a week for a cuppa and a catch up, we then sing our hearts out for an hour and a half and sit down together afterwards for a hot meal cooked by volunteers.
We perform regularly at a whole load of different places, including local homeless hostels, community festivals and world-class venues, such as the Cadogan Hall and Brighton Dome. Gigs are a highlight for everyone at the Choir with No Name, offering members something to work towards together and feel proud of, showcasing their many talents to the world. The thrill of performing in front of appreciative audiences in inspirational venues can instil a sense of purpose and self-worth that may have been lost along the way.
We also deliver community projects for people at risk of homelessness, or who are experiencing related issues (such as mental health challenges, drug and alcohol addiction, refugees and asylum seekers) in each of the cities where we work, motivated by a desire to share the joy of singing with as many people experiencing isolation and marginalisation as possible, and hopefully recruit a few more choir members along the way!
About the role:
We are looking for a highly motivated and creative manager for our London choir involving people impacted by homelessness. You’ll be part of a supportive team at CWNN and will work closely with our choir director to deliver fun, inclusive, welcoming rehearsals and gigs throughout the year.
This is an exciting and varied role working with our choir members and volunteers to support the safe running of weekly rehearsals, as well as delivering regular gigs and outreach workshops across London (and beyond!). You will need to be available to attend Monday night rehearsals in Stoke Newington London and have an understanding of working with people who have experienced complex trauma. We are looking for someone with impeccable organisational skills and the ability to multitask, as well the ability to take a creative approach to delivering inclusive group activities. Experience in volunteer and project/event management is desirable, as is a love of music and an understanding of the positive impact of singing together.
If you think you have the skills and drive to successfully manage our fabulous London choir, then get in touch!
The closing date for applications is Monday 22nd September at 9am

AMR Action UK is the UK patient organisation for people impacted by antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Our focus is on engagement with patients and their families, delivering direct support through our information service, peer-support through patient panels, and small-scale research projects.
AMR Action UK seeks to empower patients, families, and carers to have their voices heard on matters that affect their lives and to be able to influence research priorities, policy and implementation changes at government level, and changes in NHS practices, across the four nations of the UK.
About this role
AMR is a global problem which many believe is bigger than climate change in terms of both potential impact (the end of modern medicine as we know it) and urgency. While many of the solutions are long-term in nature, in the UK we can address many issues right now which will reduce the harm from AMR, meaning that less people die and many more people will avoid reduced quality of life.
In 2025 Antibiotic Research UK changed its name to AMR Action UK, with an ambitious strategy to address the harm from AMR across all four nations of the UK. The Transformation Hub Manager will play a pivotal role in reshaping our service offerings by creating a vibrant, inclusive, and strengths-based hub for our communities - many of who are underserved, including asylum seekers, refugees, residents facing isolation, and those affected by homelessness. You will lead on the delivery and successful management of our National Lottery funded RenewALL Hub, transforming our ideas from concept into a sustainable, impactful centre for community wellbeing. Central to this role is continuing to drive the shift from a crisis-led service model to a holistic, strengths-based approach, ensuring the RenewALL hub empowers Newham residents to connect, grow, and thrive. A major part of this transformation will be designing and delivering a wide range of new activities and services. Crucially, the Hub will not just deliver activities for residents but will be co-designed and co-produced with them, embedding lived experience and the voice of the community at its core. Success will depend on your ability to build and lead a coherent, motivated team of staff and volunteers, uniting them behind the shared vision of the Hub. You will work to create a welcoming space that reflects the ambitions of our Open House strategy, where dignity, inclusion, collaboration and empowerment are lived out in every interaction.
