SANE is a UK-wide mental health charity working to improve the quality of life of anyone affected by mental illness. It aims to raise awareness and understanding of all mental health conditions; fight to improve frontline mental health services for individuals and carers; provide support, information and guidance through SANEline, our Call Back service, email and text support; and promote and host research into causes, treatments and therapies through its Prince of Wales International Centre for SANE research.
About the Role
We are looking for people interested in providing compassionate support to people affected by mental health problems. This includes supporting people with severe mental illness, and carers, families and friends. You will provide support by telephone, email and text, as well as supporting our skilled volunteers through their development and weekly shifts.
This role also provides valuable practical experience in providing emotional support to vulnerable people.

Job Description
1. Delivering support through calls, emails and other means (e.g. text messaging) to people affected by mental illness, and supporting and mentoring volunteers.
2. On shift, creating a safe and supportive team environment with SANE volunteers.
3. Providing debriefing and support to volunteers following their work with callers.
4. Sharing information with your team both verbally and in writing, to ensure effective handover to colleagues.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role could suit two types of candidates:
- A practitioner with experience of working with children and families who wants to use their practice experience in a programme management role, or;
- An experienced programme manager with strong public sector and/or charity sector experience, who is confident working with data and is relational and collaborative with colleagues and partners.
It would be an advantage, though not essential, to have experience of Family Group Decision Making, solution-focused practice, or the children’s social care sector.
Whilst this role is a managerial role, and not day-to-day family-facing we do make space for our Programme Managers to hold a limited number of referrals each year to nurture skills and practice experience. Full practitioner training is provided for all Daybreak employees.
The role is home based with regular travel into Bromley and Hackney Local Authority offices. A successful candidate would also need to actively work in person with commissioners, external partners, and communities in and around Bromley and Hackney on a regular basis, depending on service needs. Willingness to travel to other areas, depending on service need and growth is needed.
What does a week look like for a Daybreak Programme Manager?
No two weeks are the same, but as a Programme Manager you can expect to balance a mix of operational oversight, supporting your freelancer team, and stakeholder engagement. Typical activities include:
Ensuring a quality service for families, and delivering on contract aims
- Reviewing and triaging referrals, including case discussions with referrers.
- Quality-assuring referrals and Family Plans, ensuring procedures are followed and records are kept up to date in our case management system.
- Monitoring case records to make sure Family Group Conferences are progressing appropriately, and accurate records are being kept.
- Collating and analysing performance data (KPIs), using MS Excel and other tools.
- Writing quarterly reports for commissioners, analysing service delivery, providing narratives and identifying areas for development.
Working with your freelancer team of Coordinators
- Allocating new referrals to our team of freelance Independent Coordinators.
- Engaging Coordinators in best practice discussions, providing guidance to overcoming barriers or issues.
- Acting as the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns, reviewing incident reports and escalating when required.
- Hosting in-person and online Practice Development Groups to share key messages and facilitate best practice discussions.
- Recruiting, inducting, and supporting new Coordinators - from advertising and interviews to observing practice.
- Reviewing and signing off invoices from freelance Coordinators.
Working with external stakeholders and referrers
- Building relationships with referrers such as Social Workers, through consultations and attending team meetings.
- Promoting our services to commissioners and senior managers in children’s social care, ensuring referrals are high quality whilst also raising awareness of the value of FGCs and our service.
Contributing to the wider Charity aims
- Attending Programme Manager and staff team meetings.
- Contributing ideas and expertise to strengthen processes, improve service delivery, expand our offer to families, and support Daybreak’s wider charitable goals.
DETAILS
- Salary: £36,000 - £39,000 per annum pro rata, depending on experience
- Location: The role is home based with regular travel into Bromley and Hackney Local Authority offices. There is also occasionally travel to Southampton (Head Office) for meetings and other areas, based on operational need.

The Photographers’ Gallery is seeking a Finance Manager to join their team at a time of growth and transformation.
The Photographers’ Gallery explores how photography is connecting, captivating and radically changing our world today. The Gallery’s programme and spaces - from exhibitions, talks, workshops and digital platforms to the café, shop and galleries - all explore the beauty, complexity, and future of photography. On the borders of busy Oxford Street and vibrant Soho, the Gallery is home to photography experts, novices and the photo-curious; artists and students; tourists and passers-by. With over 240,000 visitors annually, The Gallery is a key attraction within the arts and culture sector in the heart of London.
The Finance Manager will support the Head of Finance and work closely with the Finance Officer to deliver an efficient and robust financial service for The Photographers’ Gallery (TPG) and its trading subsidiary. A pivotal role within a small but impactful team, the Finance Manager will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, strengthen financial processes and controls, and contribute to strategic decision-making across the organisation.
A summary of key duties is as below:
- Oversee all day-to-day finance operations, including bookkeeping, payroll, VAT returns, reconciliations, purchase and sales ledgers.
- Prepare quarterly management accounts, budgets, and cashflow reports in collaboration with the Head of Finance.
- Support in the preparation of the annual accounts and liaise directly with auditors.
- Ensure compliance with charity accounting standards (SORP), HMRC, VAT and pension requirements.
- Maintain effective financial systems and controls, working with senior staff to ensure best practice across the organisation.
- Work closely with budget holders to monitor financial performance and support effective decision making.
- Contribute to wider organisational initiatives, including digital transformation of finance processes and cross-departmental working groups.
About You
- ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification (part-qualified considered) or significant relevant finance experience.
- Experience in financial management and bookkeeping, ideally within the charity or not-for-profit sector.
- Strong technical skills, including use of accounting systems, Excel, and financial reporting.
- Excellent organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail, and the ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across a range of stakeholders.
- An interest in the arts, culture, and working in a values-driven environment.

Person specification
Qualification criteria
- The right to work in the UK.
- CIPD level 5 certificate or equivalent experience
- At least two years' experience holding HR responsibilities.
We are looking for some of the following attributes, though you might be more experienced in some areas than others:
- Strong knowledge of HR processes, policies, procedures, employment law, and best practices. You'll be up-to-date with current regulations.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, and understanding of why it is critical to Action Tutoring and a proven ability to ensure processes are correctly followed and appropriately escalated.
- The ability to successfully balance individual needs with the operational and ambitious goals of the organisation. This means demonstrating compassion while supporting our strategic objectives.
- Experience using Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
- Strong project management experience.
- Proven experience implementing learning and development initiatives.
- Excellent people management skills, including the ability to be approachable, empathetic, and discreet when required.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and numerical skills.
