A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Director of Finance and Services with a Christian membership charity, on a full-time, permanent basis. As Director of Finance and Services, you will play a critical role in enabling the necessary resource and support to colleagues to deliver, and also provide advice and guidance as required to the volunteer leaders, including the Board of Trustees, and ensure that the charity operates within its means and in compliance with the laws of England and Wales.

Please note, there is hybrid working in place with this organisation with 2 days per week required in the office.

As Director of Finance and Services, you will:

- Have responsibility for all financial aspects of the charity

- Lead a Team of 5-6

- Lead on strategic and operational planning for the organisation, ensuring effective forecasting, budgeting, reporting and risk management

- Provide appropriate advice to the volunteer Boards of over 60 affiliated local charities in Britain and Ireland, and on an as-needs basis with Provinces worldwide, to ensure compliance with statutory requirements

- Have oversight of IT strategy and implementation

- Provide organisational leadership as part of the Senior Leadership Team

The successful applicant will:

- Have significant demonstrable experience in finance within the charity sector, in a similar role

- Be fully qualified (ACCA, CIMA, ACA etc)

- Have good working knowledge of the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP)

- Have experience of planning and implementation of process improvement or change programmes

- Have significant demonstrable experience of working at senior level (with Board contribution), contributing and leading on an organisation’s strategic plans

- Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

RESPONSIBILITIES

Grant Prospecting & Pipeline Development

• Research and maintain a pipeline of trusts and foundations aligned with OSH’s mission and growth priorities.

• Work closely with OSH leadership to align fundraising priorities with programme plans and organisational growth.

• Maintain up-to-date records on potential and active funders in OSH’s CRM.
   

Bid Writing & Submission

• Write and submit high-quality, tailored applications that articulate OSH’s impact, values and plans.

• Ensure applications are accurate, persuasive, and meet deadlines and funder requirements.

• Collaborate with the team to gather supporting information, budgets, and case studies.
   

Reporting & Stewardship

• Prepare timely and engaging reports for successful grants, ensuring compliance with funder requirements and strong stewardship.

• Maintain excellent records and monitor deadlines for reporting and renewals.
   

Cross-Organisational Contribution

• Coordinate annual impact reporting, including data analysis, case studies, and visual storytelling.

The Head of Finance is a key member of Tara Theatre’s senior management team, overseeing the company’s financial processes and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. About the Council

The role of Council is to lead on the GOC’s mission to protect the public by upholding high standards in eye care services.  The Council is composed of six lay members (including the Chair) and six registrant members (i.e. registered optometrists and dispensing opticians).  At least one member of the Council must work wholly or mainly in each of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.  One Council member acts as a Senior Council Member whose role is to carry out the Chair’s appraisal as well as provide a sounding board for the Chair and serve as an intermediary for Council members, Executive and stakeholders as necessary. 

The successful candidate will contribute to Council by exercising oversight, ensuring effective corporate governance, and making high-level policy decisions. They will be able to operate strategically and impartially; listen, communicate, and influence effectively; exercise judgment; and inspire confidence and support amongst our stakeholders. 

Remuneration and time commitment

Council members are remunerated in accordance with our member fees policy (£13,962 per annum plus reasonable travel and subsistence expenses).  The member fee includes time for reading and preparation.

The appointed member will be expected to commit approximately 2-3 days per month.  Meetings will usually take place via MS Teams but may on occasion be held at the GOC Offices at Level 29, One Canada Square, London, E14 5AA. There are occasional online catch-up meetings - these are currently scheduled on a Tuesday evening every 6-8 weeks, from 5.30pm – 6.30pm.

We’re looking for a creative and proactive marketing and communications professional to join BSR.  The post-holder will support the planning and implementation of marketing and digital campaigns for a wide range of BSR projects, connecting us with our community. Managed by the Marketing and Communications Manager, the role is responsible for planning and building powerful marketing emails and newsletters in Dotdigital, creating digital assets, running social media content, running paid campaigns, and providing performance reports and insights. The role also includes updating website content, advising on SEO and user experience, and using analytics to support data-driven decision-making. Whether it’s promoting an event, launching a research initiative, or raising awareness of vital issues, your work will help us reach and inspire the right audiences.

Main responsibilities

Lawyers Service

• Providing high quality services to our lawyers including identifying and recommending appropriate medical experts to clinical negligence solicitors; maintaining and developing the medical expert database. Routinely considering the Experts’ Protocol and ensuring that it remains relevant and fit for purpose.

Inquest Service

• Assessing cases for eligibility for AvMA’s pro bono Inquest Service according to AvMA’s criteria.
• Preparing cases for the coroner’s court to include sorting medical records; liaising with bereaved families by phone and in writing; researching medical literature; taking and preparing initial statements; liaising with the Coroner’s officer; securing appropriate disclosure documents; instructing counsel; assisting with preparation of bundles of documents for the hearing. Identifying general and specific patient safety issues; considering need for Prevention of Future Death Reports and or Action Plans.
• Attendance at pre-inquest hearings and inquest hearings with counsel and the family. This may involve travel and overnight stays. Out-of-pocket expenses are paid. Although overtime is not payable, time out of the office is recoverable in accordance with AvMA Time Off in Lieu (TOIL) policy. Attendance may also be required to attend partial remote hearings via Teams/Zoom
• Capturing and recording key data from inquests, securing feedback from clients.

Advice & Information Service

• Providing advice, support and information to the public through written casework. This involves helping people affected by medical accidents to obtain an understanding of what has happened to them, their rights and the most appropriate option(s) for resolving their concerns and meeting their needs including referrals to panel solicitors.

Helpline

• Providing advice and assistance to the public on AvMA’s specialist helpline. Training will be given and in due course assisting the Helpline Development Officer to train helpline volunteers.

Other Duties

• To endorse and promote the objectives set out as part of AvMA’s five year strategic plan: AvMA's 5 Year  Strategic Plan
• Junior Certification: Promoting the Certificate Competence Scheme (junior lawyer scheme) to include assessing applications received

This role is a newly created position working within the Youth Access to Immigration Representation and Advice (YAIRA) project providing immigration and asylum support to young people who are in care or are care leavers.  The YAIRA Project was set up by Coram CLC and 4 local authorities – Enfield, Islington, Barnet and Camden - to increase access to representation and advice for children in care and leaving care.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a keen interest in upholding the rights of vulnerable children and young people with experience of the care system who is seeking to progress their legal aid career in the charity sector. Our lawyers benefit from a good work-life balance and realistic financial and chargeable hour targets. The role can be split between working from home/office-based with flexibility as to the balance between the two.

The successful candidate will work alongside a senior caseworker already working on the project and together you will liaise with the local authorities involved in the project to implement an effective referral mechanism for children and young persons in their care and have conduct of and be responsible for a caseload of immigration, asylum and associated human rights law matters concerning children, young people and families referred by the local authorities. You will be expected to provide high quality legal advice, assistance and representation to these clients through legal aid casework.

The candidate will also be involved in providing ad hoc training as required to the local authority partners on areas relating to the immigration needs of children in care and care leavers and as agreed with the local authorities.

When not working on the YAIRA project, the postholder may be asked to provide paralegal casework support to the wider immigration and asylum team.

Hotel School is an award-winning charity that empowers people who have experienced homelessness and other disadvantages to thrive in the hospitality industry. This dynamic 10-week programme combines theory, hands-on experience, and industry visits to provide the skills and confidence to land a job and excel in it.

About the Role

As an Employment & Progression Coach, you’ll work one-on-one with students and graduates, supporting them to overcome barriers, stay motivated, and achieve their goals, evoking meaningful change in their lives and futures.

You will also work closely with Hotel School hospitality employer partners to identify suitable job opportunities and collaborate to ensure our graduates are well-supported as they transition into and sustain meaningful employment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one, trauma-informed and person-centred employment support to students and graduates

• Help graduates overcome barriers and prepare for sustainable hospitality careers

• Work closely with employer partners to secure and support job opportunities

• Coordinate work experience placements and deliver employability workshops

• Collaborate with mentors and support services to ensure holistic, person-centred support

• Monitor and record the progress of students and graduates

• Follow safeguarding procedures and respond appropriately

About you

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Experienced working with people experiencing homelessness and/or other disadvantages or in

  employment services

• Compassionate, patient, and calm under pressure

• Passionate about empowering and motivating people to move forward

• Experienced in supporting people facing barriers

• Highly organised, proactive, adaptable, with great communication skills

• Able to build trust and communicate well with a wide range of people in person

• Experienced in admin and using systems (MS Office essential)
