About the Role
As Senior Communications Officer, you will lead on delivering a bold, inclusive communications strategy, raising the profile of the UK’s National Trails and building awareness of their value for people, places and nature.
You’ll create and manage inspiring, accessible campaigns across digital, social and press channels; support National Trail teams across the UK with comms advice; and help shape public and stakeholder engagement. This is an exciting opportunity to be the voice of a small, national organisation making a big impact.
Key Responsibilities Include:
· Deliver creative, multi-channel communications
· Manage digital channels including the website, LinkedIn and Instagram
· Write and distribute newsletters and member communications
· Develop press relationships, draft media content and secure coverage

About You
You’ll be a passionate storyteller with a flair for strategic communications and a commitment to inclusion and representation. Comfortable juggling day-to-day delivery with long-term planning, you’ll be just as happy drafting a press release as coordinating a campaign or advising trail partners.

All other working hours can be managed with flexibility by the post holder to ensure that meetings with partners and colleagues, plus administrative tasks, are completed as required. You will be expected to work at least four days a week.

About the role
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to make an impact in the delivery of the income accounting provision at Hastoe.
You will assist our Management Accountant with the accounting, management and reconciliation of Hastoe’s solar photovoltaic portfolio, including the income that Hastoe receives from Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) payments. You will also assist with general management account duties.

- Assist with administration for said PV panel portfolio, accessing online portals, monitoring status of PV panels and payments.
- Liaise with Hastoe’s FiT licensee(s) to submit and receive information relating to the panels.
- Assist with the maintenance and servicing as required of the PV panel portfolio, working closely with Hastoe’s Property Services Team.
- Assist with completing reconciliations to ensure payments are allocated and accounted for correctly.

We are seeking a new Finance and Administration Officer following the upcoming retirement of a long-serving team member. A key member of the SLA central office team, the Finance and Administration Officer plays a vital role in ensuring smooth financial operations and providing essential administrative support for our membership. In addition to administration support, this role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, book-keeping and effective day-to-day financial operations, producing financial reports using XERO and our CRM.
You will be experienced in financial and administration operations of a charity or similar , with an AAT qualification or matching worked experience. Familiarity with XERO will be an advantage. You will be able to bring understanding of cashflow and financial analysis of figure, working with accountants as required.
You will also have excellent customer service skills and be able to work effectively with all stakeholders from our members, to funders to suppliers. You will be determined and have an excellent eye for financial and administrative detail. Your duties will include general administration and:
Financial operations and record-keeping
- Manage day-to-day financial transactions and maintain accurate records of all SLA accounts and petty cash; book-keeping
- Process and record all incoming payments, including foreign cheques (into bank account)
- Monitor cashflow and expenditure, keeping track of spending
- Pay invoices upon approval and ensure timely monthly payments (e.g. pensions, HMRC)
- Handle creditor and supplier communications and resolve related issues
- Monitor and follow up on overdue payments with a focus on membership payments

The CMV Connect Project Coordinator role is designed to enhance the charity's outreach and support initiatives, focusing on building and maintaining relationships with healthcare professionals, families, and the broader community. This position involves coordinating projects that aim to increase awareness, provide resources, and support families affected by cCMV. This role is a part time role funded by National Lottery Community Fund. It is a freelance contractor role, as it is a contract for services.
CMV Action is a UK-based charity dedicated to supporting families affected by congenital cytomegalovirus (cCMV), a leading cause of childhood disabilities such as deafness, developmental delays, and vision impairment. The charity provides information, advocacy, and support to raise awareness and improve outcomes for those impacted by cCMV, both during pregnancy and in babies and children.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Coordination: Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of CMV Connect initiatives, ensuring they align with the charity's objectives. Work with other Operation Team members and report to the Board fortnightly.
- Supporting families: Work with the trustees to follow up on those we support and identify how we can support them in the future. Work with volunteers to organise in-person and online opportunities for families to meet up.
- Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and support volunteers involved in CMV Connect project.
- Event Management: Organise and support events and campaigns aimed at raising awareness and funds for CMV Action.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals, community groups, and other families to promote awareness and support for cCMV. Provide social media content to the Fundraising Officer when each milestone is reached.
- Resource Development: Assist in creating and distributing educational materials and resources for families and healthcare providers.
- Data Management: Collect and analyse data to assess the impact of initiatives and inform future strategies. Financial data collection for the final evaluation report.
Person Specification
Essential
- Education: Degree level qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
- Experience: Proven experience in project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and working within a charitable or healthcare setting. Previous working experience with volunteers within a project would be ideal.
- Skills: Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office, including proficiency in Excel.
- Attributes: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple tasks, and maintain confidentiality.
Desirable
- Qualifications: Project management or volunteer management qualification.
- Experience: Experience in fundraising, event management, and using CRM systems, experience managing a similar project or offering support to families.
- Knowledge: Understanding of public health issues, particularly related to congenital infections and how to work in the charity sector.
Working Conditions
- Location: The role is home-based with occasional travel required for meetings and events.
- Hours: Part-time position, with flexibility to accommodate the needs of the projects. Approximately 16 hours per week, equivalent to 2 days per week.
- Salary: £150 per day, 8 hours a day, approx. 2 days a week, approx. 40 weeks till early June 2026.

Job Summary
The purpose of this role is to provide sound financial management for the Association and CET through:

Statutory financial reporting in line with Charity SORP/UK GAAP, including annual returns to Companies House and the Charity Commission

Management accounting, reporting and analysis to funders, management, staff, and Trustees/Directors

Preparation and maintenance of budgets, forecasts and plans, including cashflows and project budgets

Supervision and control of day-to-day accounting transactions, including oversight of the finance aspects of the Apprentice role

Oversight and implementation of robust financial systems, policies, and procedures

Responsible for financial queries, working with the Apprentice as first point of contact for external contacts
Main Duties

Supervise day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accurate financial record keeping, including coding, allocations, reconciliations, and tax accounting

Oversee invoice generation and debt recovery processes

Process payments and staff expenses for authorisation

Produce regular management accounts on an accruals basis, providing interpretation and advice to the Executive Team, Finance & Risk Committee, Trustees/Directors, and funders

Prepare statutory accounts in compliance with charity SORP and liaise with external auditors and the Treasurer
