The Role:

SCI is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Press Officer to lead on its external and social media engagement strategy. 

You will lead SCI’s engagement with media outlets – including national papers, trade publications and broadcast – to increase our public profile, promote our work and build support for our campaign to accelerate the commercialisation of the UK’s science base. 

You will manage SCI’s press office on a day-to-day basis – scanning the media and political landscape to find opportunities for SCI to leverage its unique expertise and perspective as an organisation at the intersection of science and business.  Part of the role will include public affairs (20%) where you will also support SCI’s Head of External Affairs with political engagement as required – coordinating and facilitating SCI’s engagement with key politicians and political contacts. 

This role is suited to someone with at least 3 years of professional experience in communications, with an excellent news sense and a solid contact book of journalist contacts. 

Responsibilities:

• Closely monitor the news agenda, seeking out opportunities for SCI to comment on fast-moving events and raise the profile of our policy positions and significant research into the potential of the UK’s science base.

• Develop and build national, trade and regional media contacts, hosting journalists at SCI offices in Belgravia.

• Establish KPIs for SCI’s media engagement and monitor and demonstrate progress in meeting them.

• Work with the Social Media team to develop and draft content related to our policy priorities for our social media channels.

• Support the wider team on other ad hoc tasks such as political monitoring and public affairs support.

Knowledge, skills and experience required for this position

• A demonstrable passion for and understanding of science, its purpose for the economy and society, and communicating that to public and political audiences.

• Minimum of 3-5 years in a press office or media-related environment.

• Confident in working in a fast-paced environment and ability to be quick and agile in responding to news opportunities as they arise. 

• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills. Able to quickly establish rapport and build strong collaborative relationships.

About You: 

You will be required to manage a complex caseload and will support securing the immigration status of service users in our refuges in the London Borough of Waltham Forest and the London Borough of Brent.

You should have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in the legal field and in areas such as immigration law, family law, domestic violence and abuse, welfare benefits and housing, and providing legal advice and advocacy to South Asian/ BME women who have experienced domestic abuse.

You will have up-to-date working knowledge of Home Office policies relating to domestic abuse, including the Migration Victims of Domestic Abuse Concession (MVDAC).

Fluency in at least one South Asian language is essential (Urdu/ Punjabi preferred)

Key Responsibilities

Hospitality & Wellbeing Support:

• Greet all guests, acting as the first point of contact between the team and external stakeholders visiting 1 Wharf Cottage, namely our clients, volunteers and partners.
• Prepare and serve teas, coffees, and refreshments to clients, volunteers and visitors, fostering a welcoming atmosphere.
•  Assist the operations and psychology team with daily administrative tasks, including managing scheduling meetings and client assessments / reviews.
• Assist in the set-up and facilitation of nature-based mental health group activities, providing support to the group leaders and facilitators (where required).
•  Support the team in ensuring a comfortable and supportive workspace.

Event Coordination: 

• Assist in coordinating and executing group sessions, meetings, events and wellness workshops as required.Support logistics, venue setup, and participant coordination for monthly, quarterly and annual events.
• Provide on-the-ground assistance during events, activities and group sessions.
• Oversee the purchase of supplies, including food and drinks, for our monthly volunteer evening events.
• Provide evening and / or weekend support at our bi-annual social events for our client base, volunteers, and donors (dates are always arranged well in advance). 

Operational & Administrative Support:

• Provide general support for the day-to-day operations of the office, ensuring a productive, efficient and well-functioning working environment. Assist the Operations team in scheduling and coordinating client assessment and review appointments, workshops, and mental health activities in nature.
• Act as a point of contact for staff and volunteers, addressing logistical and office needs.
• Manage office supplies, ensuring restocking and organisation.

The 2021 Census shows that around 36% of Camden’s households are now made up of private renters, and in the Haverstock and Primrose Hill wards, where this project will operate, it’s 27% and 35% respectively. This group of residents is often unaware of what services are out there to help them, where they are located, and how they access them.

This new role has been created to outreach and engage with private renters in the 2 wards specified and it will also include information production, dissemination and project management work. The worker will set up the project and is the key person in ensuring the smooth delivery of it in line with its stated aims and objectives.

The Early Intervention Practitioners will provide preventative, early intervention support to children, young people and their families in primary schools in Runnymede, Waverley and Surrey Heath, through delivering a range of evidence-based interventions to enable each young person to realise their potential, cope with the normal stresses of life, work productively and fruitfully within their school, and make a positive contribution within their community.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Gardener to join our estates team to maintain and develop the 12 acres of grounds and gardens at our Head Office / England South Hub site to a high standard. The Gardener will report to the Head of Property and Estates and will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of trees, shrubs and herbaceous borders as well as maintaining ponds, hedges, fences, walls, paths, roadways and woodland areas etc. He / She will carry out horticultural operations along with lawn maintenance using both hand and mechanical equipment. Additional duties include cleaning the drives and pathways of debris, litter picking, clearing snow and applying grit salt will be part of the role and periodically assist with non-gardener tasks within the estates team.

Applicants should hold a minimum of level 2 horticultural qualification, have horticultural / landscaping experience and a good general garden machinery knowledge. PA1 / PA6 spraying certificates and CS30/31 chainsaw certificates would be an advantage.

Reporting to the Head of Communications and Marketing, the key focus of this role is to develop and manage Borough Market's social media and communications functions to enhance the Trust's overall reputation and build support for the Market's corporate and societal aims, in addition to working alongside the Head of Communications and Marketing to support generalist communications activity.

Interim Communications and Social Media Manager

Contract: One-year fixed term maternity cover contract

Salary: £50,000 - £57,000 dependent on experience

Location: Hybrid based between Borough Market and home with ideally three days per week on site, potentially two

Core responsibilities within your role will be to:

• Develop, manage and execute BM's organic social plans to help to deliver BM's purpose and key messages to customers and audiences
• Deliver social and traditional PR content and influencer marketing to communicate the Market's key messages
• Manage and implement the Market's social media and communications activities in line with the Trust's strategic plan
• Manage external filming requests and report internally on press and social media coverage
• Develop and manage collaborative and partnership working arrangements with a wide range of external stakeholders; ensuring BM's purpose and aims are communicated effectively and consistently to influencers, supporters and the media
• Manage relationships with relevant agencies including social media and content creation
• Support the Head of Communications and Marketing in the development of a communications strategy and purpose in line with the Market's 2030 Strategy ensuring Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) is at the heart of all outputs
• Support the Head of Communications and Marketing in the execution of the corporate and crisis communications strategy
• Support the Marketing and Events Manager to develop an external and internal events programme to assist in the delivery of the BM's societal and charitable aims for visitors, traders, tenants and staff
• Champion the Borough Market brand including across all social media channels
• Support the Board and Senior Management team (SMT) to build the organisation's brand and values
• Deputise for the Head of Communications and Marketing as required
• Provide guidance and advice to SMT on social media issues

You will need to be a talented and creative social media expert who can help cultivate a thriving culture of engagement across the Market's community of staff, traders and visitors. You will be a team player collaborating with the wider team on creating engaging content to ensure that Borough Market's story is as visible to priority audiences as possible.

Applicants will need to have a strong social media background and creative digital skills. Experience in a similar role or environment as well as outstanding communications skills, a self-starter approach and a keen interest in food and drink are essential.

About the role

As Communications Adviser, you will shape and lead SUN CSN's communications and member engagement strategy — from amplifying community voices to showcasing change-makers across the nutrition sector. You will produce innovative multimedia content, manage digital channels, oversee newsletters and social media, and maintain our website as a go-to hub for news and resources.

In this pivotal role, you'll also collaborate with global partners from within and outside the SUN Movement, manage communications projects, and support the launch of our new SUN CSN Strategy 4.0 (2026–2030). Some international travel may be required to capture stories firsthand. You will also be working with people from different backgrounds who speak other languages so mastering French and Spanish, as well as AI-generated translation tools, would be important in this role.

In this role, you will:

• Lead the SUN CSN website strategy and work closely with web developers.

• Manage and grow social media presence to engage network members and key global health audiences.

• Create inspiring, high-quality content — including community stories, newsletters (in English, French, and Spanish), campaign materials, and more.

• Lead and coordinate the annual SUN CSN Excellence Awards.

• Develop and facilitate communications training sessions with materials tailored to Network members' needs.

About you

To be successful, it is important that you have:

Ways of Working:

We are looking for a Mental Health Case Worker to manage a caseload of clients and provide support to those experiencing both financial and mental wellbeing issues and develop resilience and manage their mental health more effectively.

Project

The free Financial and Wellbeing Support Service in Epsom and Ewell combines the specialist mental health support with expert benefits and money advice from Citizens Advice Epsom & Ewell (CAEE) to support clients during a difficult time. This three-year project is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.

The Role

• Increase financial resilience and independence.

• Improve overall mental and/or emotional wellbeing.

• Reduce stress and anxiety.

• Increase engagement with local community and local services

• Reduce social isolation.

• Help clients to feel more informed about how to manage finances and wellbeing in future.

Key responsibilities include:

• Work in partnership with the Citizens Advice to support people with their mental health who are experiencing financial difficulties.

• Manage a caseload of clients.

• Work with individuals and their carers around their mental health and social circumstances.

• Create a non-clinical person centred support plan around the individual, guided by the individual’s needs.

• Cultivate relationships with, and work with, other services around social wellbeing support for clients.

• Work with clients as the lead professional involved in their care, bridging to other services and opportunities and working closely with other organisations already involved.

• Aim to remove practical and physical barriers that arise from lack of resource at the community level.

• Assistance with accessing services (such as Community Connections).

• Advice, information, and signposting, including clear information about what support is available locally.

About You

Project

SUN was launched in 2021 and is a service delivered by MFT and SABP for people with difficulties associated with the diagnosis of personality disorder. The innovative SUN service is based on therapeutic community principles and members are expected to both give and receive support as part of their membership. 

The Role

The SUN facilitator with lived experience will be working closely with a SUN specialist clinician to deliver regular Service User Network (SUN) support groups in different community-based locations across Surrey and North East Hampshire.

SUN provides community-based, open access facilitated peer support groups and aims to help people develop effective ways of coping and improve their relationship with themselves and others.

We are looking for individuals who are highly resilient and are confident in sustaining an emotionally demanding paid role.

Key responsibilities include:

• Co-deliver regular SUN support groups in the community, both face to face and online, with a clinical facilitator.

• Work in collaboration with the co-facilitator and the SUN members.

• Use own lived experience of mental health problems associated with a diagnosis of personality disorder to support the development and knowledge of the service and wider services.

• Contribute to ensuring that any potential risk is being constantly assessed within a culture of positive risk taking and shared responsibility.

• Co-lead on different areas of the service on a rota basis, i.e., reporting, outreach, and member involvement.

• Undertake all the required training in line with the development of the post and as agreed with both your line manager within MFT and the service manager of SUN.

• Attend and contribute to additional service development meetings as required.

• Assist in the promotion of the service through active liaison, meetings, and presentations with people who access services, staff and other organisations.

You will be committed to undertake training on SUN protocols and methods and obtain knowledge regarding mental health with specific focus on personality disorder and the recovery approach.

• Personal lived experience of mental health issues associated with personality disorder.
